Rebel Stitcher Jeepers Creepers - click for more Rebel Stitcher Yikes - click for more Rebel Stitcher Spooky Smalls - click for more
Some fun 'Creeps' from Rebel Stitcher
  • Jeepers Creepers - This is cute! I think it'd be fun on a gunmetal colored fabric, so those dancing skeletons would show up more. Just 5 shades of thread, it measures 143 x 77, so will finish about 8 x 4 on 18/36ct. Presented as a nice full sized chart - $15.00
  • Yikes - Another fun one, this little kitty is 143 x 138 in size, so about 8 x 8 on 18/36ct. Stitched on a dramatic orange background, almost all of this is black, and it'd be tempting to stitch the cat outline and then just fill him in! Black metallic would be stunning on the stars, a little wool thread on that tail?
  • Spooky Smalls - There are seven designs in here! Each one is tiny, super easy to do, and the entire set is stitched with the same color palette of Gentle Art hand-dyes. Black Licorice, Orange Marmalade, Grape Leaf, Tomato, and Purple Iris. Foggy Night (bottom left) has purple clouds hiding the golden moon - it looks promising!

Fall Offerings from The Tiny Modernist
  • Treat Biscornu - A colorful little cushion - candy corn, spiders and eyeballs adorn both sides of this 4 x 4 piece. Presented as a small card chart and coded for DMC, it runs $7.00.
  • Fall Bell Jar - What a sweet scene! If you're in a hurry - stitch just the pedestal and hedgehog with his mushrooms and skip the border - IF you can pass up those brilliant leaves and pumpkins! Finishes 5 x 7 on 32ct, coded for DMc, just a really pretty burst of Autumn color and personality! Chart runs $9.00
  • Mouse's Pumpkin Pie - Another cute mouse design, this one features 4 little motifs that would be cute individually as tiny blocks or on 4 sides of a tiny cube. Try placing them horizontally so you can make a drum shape. Stitch count is 59 x 59 - but each motif is only about 20 x 25... so super cute! Small Chart runs $7.00

Midnight Cat from December Stitches - click to see more

Midnight Cat from December Stitches

Remember Elvis the Cat? Here's Dracula the Cat!

Worked on a chalkboard colored fabric - we have lots of options - he's only 6 x 7 overall and 40 x 80 by himself. Coded for DMC, this is presented as a single full sized chart for $12.00.

Song of the Forest from The Needles Notion - click for more
Song of the Forest from The Needle's Notion
Here's a fun 'wreath' design - to hang on a door. It's a woodland scene of a forest tree, complete with squirrels. A cottage back there, some deer, even little fish in the stream. The stitching isn't too involved, so this looks bigger than it actually is. Measuring 176 across, it'll be 10 inches on 18/36.

Choose larger fabric and make a larger wreath. The fabric is simply cut out, and button-hole stitched onto a felt backing! No sewing, a flat finish... actually really charming! Presented as a chart it is coded for DMC floss with a few hand-dyeds tossed in.
(Note: There are a few other designs from The Needle's Notion on our Christmas Seasonal page.)

Flora
from The Artsy Housewife
Artsy Housewife has a gorgeous owl design - full of luscious Autumnal color. Coded for DMC, it measures 6-1/2 x 10 on 32ct Dirty Linen. (Dirty isn't made anymore, so Country Vintage Mocha is a perfect alternative color.)

An elegant border, delicate background and charmingly dramatic owl, this piece is really eye-catching! Presented as a chart, it runs $14.00

Peace, Grace, Byron and Bedelia from The Artsy Housewife
This is a four-some of charming designs by Artsy Housewife. Presented in chartpacks, each uses a medley of DMC, Weeks and Classic Flosses.
  • Peace - measures approx 7 x 8. Gigi has used THREE DIFFERENT scraps of linen on this - and even mixed the counts between 30 and 32! She's joined her cuts together with an invisible ladder stitch, but informs that you can use just one color of material in one piece if you'd rather. What a great way to use up smaller bits of fabrics you have! Peace is worked on PTP 32 Oaken, 32 Seraphim Bees Knees, and 30ct Weeks Dolphin. I love the 'permission' to go wild and mix the fabrics - and you certainly don't need three inches on the sides of all your small cutsnixed fabrics!
  • Grace - companions Peace, and is basically the same size. Again mixed flosses, this time she hasn't told us what the fabrics are! Probably the same as Peace, but maybe you could do the bird section on yet a different color but keep the two side panels the same? It's a really cool design concept.
  • Byron Blackbird - Isn't this little guy eyecatching? Stitched on a 30ct creme linen that has been distresssed with RIT dye and coffee grounds, he measures approx 6-1/2 x 4 on 36ct. Coded for DMC, it does use Weeks Schneckley and Classic's Blackbird handdyeds. If you stain this after the stitching is done, it generally softens your colors... so you have a choice of when to stress!
  • Bedelia Bunny - Is darling! She measures 96 x 94 and finishes approx 5 x 5 on 40ct Picture This Plus Veldt linen. Only 8 shades of DMC on this, you might play around with your background fabric a little to help the bunny show up better. So soft and pretty as is though.

Lola Crow Painted Pumpkins - click for more
Painted Pumpkins from Lola Crow
We love this design! Nine perfect little pumpkins - all the same size, they are all patterned differently - but use the same 5 DMC colors.

You could go nuts with this one! Add metallics, re-arrange them into a long row for a windowsill cushion, or make a drum, do individual pin cushions, lots of great options. Very cute design, each pumpkin measures only 30 x 30! Full color chart in leaflet format. $9.00

Colorful Designs from Lola Crow
  • Murder in the Pumpkin Patch - The Murder of Crows is decending on the patch of pumpkins... but neither the skeleton or the scarecrow are keeping them away. This colorful country scene by Lola Crow Designs is worked with 25 shades of DMC floss on 32ct Mirage Linen by Picture This Plus. That gorgeous blue-gray dramatic background sets off the bright oranges and cheerful denim of that ragged little shirt. A fun piece 144 x 104 in stitch count, to stitch and display for the season!
  • Buried in Books - Well, everyone knows someone who always has their nose buried in a book - isn't this the cutest thing? Measuring just 64 x 53, it's done on a mangy gray background with 18 different shades of DMC. I love that little cat too. Chart is $7.50.
  • Extraordinary Birds - This has apparently been a stitch along piece that is being finished and offered complete to us. Chart format, it uses 34 DMC shades and measures 181 x 226 in stitch count. I love all the colors in here, and the booklet does come with an illustrated index to identify each bird in the piece! Complete Booklet of charts runs $27.00
  • Acorns and Friends - If this isn't the cutest thing! The Racoon and skunk are stitching, but the opposum, crows and squirrels are already done, and displaying their stitched pieces that are mounted in hoops! See them hanging from the tree branches? Measures 124 x 105, stitched with 20 DMC shades, the background fabric is Weeks 36ct Sea Foam hand-dyed linen. Cute! Chart is $12.00
  • Acorn Bonanza - these little guys hit the motherlode! They're picking them right off the tree... measures 80 x 80 and uses 12 DMC colors. Check out that one little individual squirrel at the bottom left... you could stitch JUST HIM and nothing else! Chart $9.00

Peyote Beading Designs from Ghost Boy Needleworks
Raymond has a passion for all things embroidery. He says if it involves stabbing something whether it's fabric, or beads or his own fingers, he's a happy guy! He adds 'a little less happy when it comes to fingers, but sometimes art demands a blood sacrifice!' We are featuring some of his Peyote Beading Designs in kit format.
  • Skellymaid - Well, this is over-the-top cute! It is a 5-inch long Peyote Beaded scissor or Zipper fob of a skeleton mermaid. You string those arms and make the little hands, and then the bony tail, it just makes you smile! Complete kit contains both the color chart and numeral directions to do this - just depends on which set of instructions your brain works better with. Then, a vial of two beading needles, thread, clamshell finding and all the pre-sorted beads. Should take about 5 or 6 hours do do... such a conversation piece!
  • Harlequin Poker - All red and black this fob finishes approx 2 x 5 with the fringe. The complete kit contains the beading thread, needles, Delica beads, the fringe beds, lobster claw clasp and instructions. $30.00
  • Sirena Selene - She is a lunar mermaid! Stars and moons instead of water and fish! Selene finishes 1-1/2 x 5. Her complete kit contains the beading thread, needles, Delicas, fringe beads, lobster claw clasp and instructions. $40.00

Maple Leaf by KiraLyns Needlearts - click for more
Maple Leaf
from KiraLyns Needlearts
Enjoy this fun Autumn leaf quilt - complete with lounging kitties and a few pumpkins. Coded for DMC floss, it measures 77 x 77 in stitch count - so finishes a petite 4-1/4 inches on 18/36ct.

That means, if you split it up and make individual cushions out of the cat on the shelf, the big white pumpkin stack and then the quilt - each of them will be smaller than those 4 inches! Pretty colors, just a bright, simple, cute seasonal piece. Presented as a chart for $8.00

Three Halloween Designs from Plum Street Samplers
Jack's Candle Pocket from Plum Street Samplers Grim's Haunt from Plum Street Samplers Bony Bunch from Plum Street Samplers
  • Bony Bunch - If this isn't the cutest thing... it joins Paulette's stacks of animals... only they 'were' people! Grab any chalkboard colored fabric you like and stitch away - it calls for some DMC as well as Weeks Mascara, Grits and Classic's Cayenne and Just Rust. Stitch count is 54 x 90... it's a 'gotta have!' (Click through the image above to see our shop model.)
  • Grim's Haunt - Quite the festive Halloween barn! The colors in this are yummy... the barn pattern and roof shingles are repeating, geometric and cool, the Jacks on their vines meander everywhere, but the little kitty is just the best! Paulette says grimalkin is another name for a cat - who is definitely the star of this show! Charted for a combination of Weeks, Classic and DMC floss this is done on 36ct Patriot's Brew - a great neutral. It measures 101 x 92 - so about 5-1/2 inches in size.
  • Jack's Candle Pocket - A fun finish for a primitive Jack-o-lantern design... the year 1867 is on there as the possible first year pumpkins were carved for Halloween! Finishing instructions are in the chart so you can make a cute candy sack, or something to hold dried flowers and twigs for the season - that would make a cute door hanger.

Very vintage in feel, she also includes a digital pic of the entire set stitched together.

Finishes approx 7-1/2 x 11 on32ct. Coded for DMC the chart is huge and colorful - easy to read.

The Stitch Guide includes behind the scene stories for each side of the house.

Fences with garlands of purple lights surround the house, and the front door has a spider knocker. Owlvira's attic room features a spider web rug and black felt walls for needles and pins (and a little frog charm).

Glendon Place's Cheryl has designed a friendly pirate ship that isn't as scary as the skulls on there would like! Stitched on Crossed Wing's hand-dyed BANG! linen... Charted for DMC floss, Cheryl has featured 6 colors of Rainbow Gallery's Silk Lame' braid in this and several Just Another Company clay button embellishments. The Lame is a silk-rayon blend with touches of opalescent metallic in it - gives a shimmer!

So, the ghosts are glow-in-the-dark, and so is the skull on the flag. The lightest blue in the waves is stitched with the Lame in frosty blue. I like the shark in the water, the dragon on the front of the ship, the ghosts clinging to the masts, but the little skeleton crow steals the show! He's got his captains hat on, and he's on guard! Offered as the chart, we have the Lame' threads, the fabric and buttons all gathered together as a set - because you really need all the right things to capture the charm of this cute piece.

Pam and Susan have a new Haunted Halloween Party House for 2021. *Come Ghoulies, Shriek, Growl and Dance!* Joining their collection of other busy houses... this one is just as colorful as the others, but a little different in finished size. It's a whopping 28 x 14 on 32ct Picture This Plus 'Haunted' linen, and it's garnished with a collection of JABCO clay spiders, bats, pumpkins and a little caldron button.

We have several of their models in the shop, and it's fun to find smaller take-out design areas to stitch smaller versions. The dramatic fabric highlights all the cute little ghosts and kids, the trees are all scraggly, the spider webs are thin metallic... a lot of fun things happening on ALL of their Halloween and Christmas Scenes! Presented as a chart... fabrics, buttons and extensive thread list (of 49 hand-dyed skeins or 34 Skeins of DMC and the metallic) are all offered separately. (Fabric and button info TBA)

There is a lot you can do with this trio of designs. Right now, they are simply black on white. Think about neat fabric colors from your stash with that same black stitching.

Or... use a hand-dyed black for more effect. You could add a few stitches of just one color to make them POP - like gold metallic for pumpkin eyes, or black metallics for the spider. Super simple and understated... they'd make striking Halloween decorations.

Wow. this is a creative way to finish your stitching! Pam and Susan have designed three various-sized stitched pumpkins and then shown you how to finish/assemble them for a cute stacking Halloween display. The feature is the ANTIQUE WOODEN SPOOL they are stacked around! You can choose any three colors of fabric you like for your pumpkins - they tell you how to adjust the templates if you change from the 32ct Weeks Chestnut, Tiger's Eye and Cappucino choices used.

Stitching is done with Weeks, Gentle Art and Kreinik threads, with some Mill Hill beads and a JABCO spider button. (You can get creative from your stash with creepies to embellish this too!) Next, assemble the pumpkins - you are leaving the centers open - and then placing them over the spool to stand up! FOR NOW the antique spools are included with the charts - so neat!

    from Cottage Garden Samplings
This is a pair of seasonal alphabet pieces that are neat in their own ways!
    • Presented as chart, Halloween Sampler II is worked on Picture This Plus's Murky linen - which the coolest, mangy color - it's just muddy and a MESS! So many things look REALLY good on it! You get all the letters plus some fun words for all of them with a few motifs tucked in here and there. LOTS of possibilities for beads, metallics and maybe a couple of charms or an old skeleton key!
    • Christmas Sampler II is much more subdued. Stitched on Ancient linen from Picture This Plus, the letters chart is huge - printed on one huge sheet of glossy paper - the motifs are super-cute, it finishes about 8 or 9 inches square depending on your fabric count choice. We like them both!

    Grateful Hearts
    by Mary Engelbreit from Imaginating
Imaginating has charted the artwork of Mary Engelbreit, and presented it in a leaflet format. I'm not sure how old the actual picture is, but the charting is new for 2020. Coded for DMC, it measures 168 x 142, so finishes approx 10 x 12 on 14/28ct. The model is shown on Aida, but working on Lugana or Linen is MUCH EASIER because of all the half-placed backstitching on this. With Aida, you have to MAKE your own holes... with anything over two - you HAVE that perfectly spaced middle hole already.

Next... notice the bottom is solid stitching. It is #369... and it's a MILLION stitches. Consider doing those in half stitches - along with the peachy-part in the center. It's lovely this way, but there are a ton of stitches there that you could probably do without, and not ruin the charm of the picture! Just a thought!

Some Dramatic Pieces from Autumn Lane Stitchery
Here are 4 designs that are coded for DMC floss, but beg for some fun metallics to be added in - by YOU!
    • Hallows' Eve Haunting - This is worked on Picture This Plus's Murky - which comes in several counts of aida and linen. You're going to need 4 skeins of black floss, and probably some gold metallics for those windows and that moon! It finishes 10 x 13-1/2 on 14/28ct.
    • Midnight Brew - This one needs 7 skeins of DMC black! It does call for some glow-in-the-dark thread... really a fun scene! Fabric information is supplied in the chart.
    • Woodland Santa - Stitched on a Star Sapphire-colored fabric, DMC flosses, he finishes approx 6 x 15 on 32ct. Easy to tell from the digital image on here that metallics would be fun and pretty easy to add.
Tis H'owl'oween from Val's Stuff Tis H'owl'oween from Val's Stuff
A fun chart that comes with clay button eyes, green leaf buttons, and felt pieces to make those leaves. I'm thinking though... if you have some rust or orange felt... you may want to toss some of that Fall color into your leaves!

You'll need flosses from your stash for this, can it can be stitched on just about any fabric you like.

Barbara Ana's *Girls* are Getting Ready for Halloween!
Barbara Ana has new designs that are actually pretty entertaining when you study them! Can you find the little dangling lizards (I Believe those would be Newts?) Each pic has a cute little cat, and all the pumpkins, vines, dresses, and quilty design elements everywhere add pops of color. Break up some of the motifs and make some individual pin cushions - the cat with the basket of pumpkins is pretty cute... or you could stitch the witch faces on one side of a pin cushion and personalize your friends names on the other side! (depends on your friends, I guess.)

Anyway, presented in three different charts, all are worked on 32ct white. Witchy Pantry finishes about 6 x 6, Three Witches finishes approx 12 x 7-1/2, and Witchy Harvest finishes approx 8 x 6. All are coded for regular DMC floss.

It would also be cute perched as a cushion in that Halloween Candy Basket you might have already started! (You know the one where you buy the Halloween candy NOW, so you'll HAVE it to give away at Halloween... all you find in the trash are wrappers that nobody knows anything about!) The inference of mice in their candy might scare them away! This comes as a chart... hand-dyed flosses.

    • Basketful of Autumn Time -- This is the 3rd of a 4-part series. 93 x 83 In stitch count, preferred fabric is Summer Khaki, which comes in lots of different counts. There are a few over-one stitches in the Jack-o-lantern faces, and all is worked with hand-dyeds. No houses in the basket this time around... just that pile of pumpkins!
    • Bittersweet & Broomsticks -- 115 x 90, Super-cute! The golden color of the fabric highlights the flosses nicely on this... but something mangy and gray might be fun too!
    • Autumn in Baltimore -- The 3rd in this series, this time, you are seeing it stitched over one thread on 28ct Mushroom Lugana. Pin cushion, basket wrapper and even a little wool pumpkin, this all fits into a 5 x 3-1/2 x 2 oval paper mache box! Lots of stitching options with this one, each of the quilt motifs would make pretty little cushions and smalls...
    • The Cat & the Moon -- The 3rd small peat pot design, this makes a cute 52 x 53 pin cushion if you don't want the pot and ruffle finishing option. Notice how she's stitched the cat's face vertically so the thread variations are not horizontal??? I think it makes him look more 'vintage.'

You could stitch the kitty in fuzzy black threads -- we have several options, you could add glass beads for the spider and cat eyes -- you could do the moon, bow tie and kitty hat in Fyre Werks metallic... you could bead the border... or add a couple more rows of a complimenting color to make it more jaggedy! Lots of options with this, because it has 'good bones!' Presented as a chart.

Halloween Quaker from Lila's Studio - click to see more Halloween Quaker from Lila's Studio
WOW, is this a cool piece!!!!! By Lila's Studio, this is stitched on Picture This Plus's Murky Linen -- it's a dark, drab but dramatic muddy grey-brown fabric! (Simply delicious, as it's name does not suggest!) Halloween Quaker measures a generous 261 x 180, so it finishes approx 16 x 11 on 32ct. Stitched with Classic Colorworks hand-dyed flosses, this has several cool elements to it.

The Quaker-inspired motifs are fun, especially the unusual spiders in one, and the black cats in another. That little village at the bottom is cool, the witch legs and boots are colorful, but your eye really goes to that silouette right in the center! Beautiful colors of thread against that fabric, chart calls for 40ct... we can order that for you... 32 is a little less scary to see!

The Workbasket has a pair of designs sharing some of the same motifs with a Thanksgiving flavor. Squirrels and squash accompany acorns and corn on the cob. Charted for Classic Colorworks silks or DMC floss... the silks are almost $8 each... pull the DMC and convert those to hand-dyed cottons!

Then, see about doing some contour stitching on here. See the squirrel? See the horizontal lines on him? If you stitch him following the outside curve of his tail, he will look much better. The basket is OK with horizontal lines, but the pumpkin needs vertical lines as well. The hand-dyed colors on the corn and leaves are spaced well... see what you can do with threads on that squirrel and pumpkin to give this your own special touch! Both designs are presented in this chart.

Moonlight Haunting from Blackberry Lane Moonlight Haunting
    from Blackberry Lane Designs
Blackberry Lane's Marie Driskill has designed the most delighfully colorful Halloween-y night scene! Presented as a chart, it is stitched on Picture This Plus' 32ct Mirage Linen with 15 different hand-dyed shades of flosses. Finishing only 4 x 5-ish, (we're cutting 9 x 9 in size) there is a little toad down there in the left-hand bottom corner that she says you could stitch as an individual fob as well.

The giant moon has that wonderful smiling face, the Jack looks great too, not to mention all the circling bats -- and everything is set against that wonderfully dark, moving sky color! It'll finish small enough for a pin cushion but you can make your pillow larger with the fabric strips and cool trims in the cover model pic.

    • Scary Things October Brings -- This one finishes approx 6 x 6-1/2 on 32ct, and would look good with lots of thread and embellishment creations. A neat rhyme, something like this makes a cute decoration finished into a fabric 'mat.' Just add some fabric strips and make a mini quilt hanging, only don't hang it -- just lay it on the coffee table. (Of course you have to be one of 'those people' who have empty spots in your house for that. Maybe the wall is a better idea!?)

Charted for DMC or overdyeds, there is a set of clay buttons embellishing -- it has leaves, birds and pumpkins. Quite a fast piece to work up, the chart is printed very large inside the leaflet, and I'm thinking just an evening or two TOPS to get this stitched! It is CUTE! Offered as the leaflet with buttons separate.

    from AB Designs
This is SO CUTE! Ms Amy has outdone herself with this fun pagent of Trick-or-Treat hopefuls! Worked on the delicious 30ct Weeks Peoria Purple Linen in both Weeks and Gentle Art overdyeds, it finishes a petite 6 x 9. You can do the whole thing, or split everyone up and make smaller individual stand-ups.

Colors are fun, subject matter is over-the-top creative... you could even do those stars in metallic, and put beads in the witch's dress. Offered as the chart with packet of mini metal brads and rubber band embellishments!

Bittersweet Pumpkins from Just Another Button Company - click to see more Bittersweet Pumpkins from Just Another Button Company
Just Another Button Company and Art to Heart have teamed up again to bring us 4 MORE cute quilt designs in Cross Stitch! Bittersweet Pumpkins features a pair of pretty spectacular pumpkins stitched in lots of gorgeous Autumnal shades of DMC, Weeks and Gentle Arts or Anchor flosses.

They've garnished with a small smattering of buttons -- but if your stash has some cute ones that are 'homeless' -- add them! Stitched on Week's 30ct Parchment and finishing approx 8 x 9 ... you might want to look at Week's Straw or even Zweigart's Dirty Linen ... just a color that is a shade darker than that Parchment -- so the right pumpkin (which is stitched in GAST Peach Ice Cream) shows up better. It is WAY TOO CUTE to be lost against the background fabric, and I think it is now. Anyway, adapted from Art to Heart's quilt designs, this is a beautiful piece of needleart! Offered as the chart with button set.

Witches Night Out from Blackberry Lane - click to see more
    Witches Night Out
    from Blackberry Lane Designs
Blackberry Lane has introduced a stunning sillouette of witches playing in their lairs... presumably in anticipation of Halloween!

The main design features a big tree -- branches flowing everywhere and surrounding each of the design vinettes. It measures 136 x 465 stitches! (That's 9 x 29 on 32ct!!) Stitched entirely in black, as you can see, lots of different fabric colors look good with this.

Every little section is enchanting -- there is so much going on in each. All of the smaller projects are take-outs from the main design -- Marie has re-charted bottom edges so they can stand alone. VERY imaginative... quite a stunning piece... this is offered as a chart.

    Widow Black's B & B from Praiseworthy Stitches - click for more Widow Black's B & B from Praiseworthy Stitches
Praiseworthy Stitches annual huge haunted house has arrived!!! Widow Black has opened her very own Bed and Breakfast to *Guests.* Tasty Delights are served every afternoon in her private parlour... she thinks it is simply delightful that many of her guests have been tied up for the entire afternoon... and that many linger way past check-out time! Widow Black does remind guests that they may have to share their rooms with her long-time boarders... who love to watch for fresh arrivals!

Stitched on 32ct Murky from Picture This Plus with 31 different hand-dyed or DMC flosses, you will need multiple skeins of 12 of the colors in here. There are Mill Hill beads scattered about, and a JABCO button pack with three gravestones, three bats, 4 spiders, two jack-o-lanterns and a little owl! There is so much going on in this piece -- it is CHARMING -- and makes the best companion to Croaking Toad Manor, Ravenmoon Hall, Buzzard's Roost Inn and Black Cat Manor.

I don't know about you... but I think Pam and Susan are out-doing themselves every year! Offered as the chart, we have the fabric cut separately, as well as the clay button packs! (Fabrics for the previous 4 Haunted Houses are now here as well, if you are needing them!)

Halloween and Christmas are right around the corner -- according to these new releases!
Classic Prairie Schooler style, I think my favorite is Trick or Treat!

#188 Trick or Treat is so fun. Check out all the activity in that Halloween Evening scene! Ghosts flying from chimneys, little people scurrying everywhere, toadstools and spiders, it is just the cutest. I love that row of characters down in the lower front!
#190 Happy Christmas features a sleepy village against the deep midnight black winter sky. Finishing only 5-1/2 x 7-1/2 on 18ct black aida, there are only 8 colors of DMC floss in here!!! The snowflakes look like stars in the sky and the dark windows tell you that everyone is fast asleep. You can hear the quiet... all except for Santa's sleigh bells up in the sky!
#191 Nordic Holiday features 9 designs that are all the same size and use the same two colors of DMC floss -- 699 and 817. Simple and classic with a Nordic design inspiration, you could repeat and repeat these to make a cool table runner!

Croaking Toad Manor from Praiseworthy Stitches - click for more Croaking Toad Manor from Praiseworthy Stitches
Praiseworthy Stitches has another annual haunted house, and this year's is just as busy and (charming?) SCARY as the rest!!! Presented as a chart with clay button set additional, this finishes quite large -- just like all it's companions. A whopping 15 x 20 on 32ct -- if you are CAREFUL (only 1-1/2 inches on the sides)... we can get this on a fat quarter(18 x 27) of Thunderstorm for you. (otherwise the 21 x 26 cut is $43.68!)

The design is full of great details -- just so much to look at and enjoy. There is a toad in the pond with a witch hat... He's the culprit who's stirring up the landscape! Charted for DMCs or lots of Gentle Art and Weeks overdyeds. It also features a smidge of silver metallic and a few Mill Hill beads.

Halloween Jumble from The Drawn Thread -- click to see more Halloween Jumble
    from The Drawn Thread!

Drawn Thread has a new piece -- a companion design to Be My Valentine -- it's a series of MINIATURE blocks that include bitty Halloween motifs and letters to spell out 'Trick or Treat.' Really a very tiny thing -- 2-1/2 x 6-1/2 -- Cynthia has used a few Satin Stitches and a smattering of glass beads to embellish her squares a bit -- but each square measures ONLY AN INCH on 28/14 count and even smaller on the recommended 32ct Dirty Belfast.

So cute, you can make some initial scissor fobs if your name has the right letters... you can stitch a set of small ornaments for a little tree branch... you could stitch these all in one horizontal row (1 x 21!) and hang it above a doorway... or you could stitch them all vertically (again 1 x 21!) and hang it on a skinny wall somewhere. You could even finish them into individual cubes to make a set of alphabet blocks! Offered as a chart. As you can tell from the pic -- rich rusty oranges, fun greens and purples and lots of black!

    from Rosewood Manor

Finishing approx 7 x 14 (not too big at all!), the leaflet comes with a stunningly REAL looking sterling spider charm that is featured on the Cobweb square of the sampler. If that little guy showed up live and in person on my wall, I'd be freaked out!!! Offered as a leaflet with Mr Scary Spider charm, this is a fun diversion from classic Halloween... into traditional quilt motifs!

Mr Baron Von Bat - The Needle Minder from Blackberry Lane - click to see more
Blackberry Lane's Marie Driskill is amazing! Check out this Over-The-Top scary and realistic stitched BAT!!!!! *Mr Von Bat takes his job seriously and tries to be intimidating with his fangs, but he's too cute of a fellow to take seriously. He has a baby bat button (JABCO's little black bat) as a bowtie with two dickeys made with (Week's) overdyed wool where he guards his needles well.*

Stitched on 36ct linen, (fabric options vary for this) with DMC flosses (only 25 colors!) he measures 8 inches from wing-tip to tip and 3-1/2 inches high. He is stitched on BOTH sides -- so you see his back on the outside, and his tummy on the inside. You'll need to get a couple of those super-stong magnets to put inside his wing-tips to help then close. (A pair will do, but you might want more.)

Offered as the chart, the instructions to assemble are all here. You'll need the bat bowtie button, those dinky magnets and bit of Weeks wool to finish. I have never seen such a cute needle case like this... the design is incredibly detailed, such a different and unique subject matter .. this little guy is a MUST HAVE!!!!!!!!! Models are a possibility for us in St Charles and Houston!!!

What a fun kitchen decoration to offer a lighthearted warning that this IS the haunting time of year... 'and one must beware of that which is simmering in the soup pot!' Stitched on 30ct hand-dyed, it uses regular DMC flosses, finishes approx 9 x 9, and has a couple of little blackbird embellishments.

Offered as a chart, Vicki has also included a really cool strawberry pin cushion design in here... that is only pictured in the top little preview area of the pattern cover! Full of little maple leaf motifs, she includes the finishing templates and instructions for the emery-filled berry and wool topping.

Both designs in this pack are dynamite... you'll want to stitch them ASAP! For Bone Appetit, Weeks hand-dyeds Straw, Kudzu, Scuppernong or Guacamole would be great color choices of fabric, for the berry... you might want a darker -- Onyx, Gunmetal, Aztec Red, Chestnut or Havana, as the topper is Chestnut Herringbone (but I like Houndstooth better!)
