I'm a "seasons" nut... so we'll be adding to these all the time! We have so many other projects and ideas in the shop, and elsewhere on the site, but this is a fun way to show you just a few ..... ENJOY! Autumn Cross Stitch Designs Spring and Easter Designs Christmas and Winter Patriotic and Summer
Maple Leaf from Kira Lyns Enjoy this fun Autumn leaf quilt - complete with lounging kitties and a few pumpkins. Coded for DMC floss, it measures 77 x 77 in stitch count - so finishes a petite 4-1/4 inches on 18/36ct. That means, if you split it up and make individual cushions out of the cat on the shelf, the big white pumpkin stack and then the quilt - each of them will be smaller than those 4 inches! Pretty colors, just a bright, simple, cute seasonal piece. Presented as a chart for $8.00
Presenting a Very Limited Little Autumn Treat from The Purple Thread Sharon is sending us a few of these darling little three-sided fob kits, that attach to a pair of pumpkin scissors! Ribbons, threads, flosses, charts and the scissors all included - the fob is approx 2 inches long. Taking reservations for Mid August delivery!
Something fun to stitch from Stitchy Prose Stitchy Witchy Bell Pull - 'After Twilight's embrace witches weave spells with needles and lace.' This was done on an acid-yellow/green fabric to really accent the two thread colors of Blackbird and Rainy Day. (Dmc 310 and 550.) Something cute for stitchers... wouldn't this be fun split up into 5 individual pin cushions and nestled in a bowl? The Stitch count is 73 x 291 - so you'd have 4-inch wide cushions... and 16 inches of length between them - I think it'd make a fun display! Add a little furry thread to the cat, some button embellishments, metallics to the moons, spider web and needles...and back them with deep dark wools to make them more spooky!
Just a few unusual treats from Mani di Donna - Coming from Italy - to Market - to Tulsa!

The Spooksters are Here from Satsuma Street Satsuma Street's 2023 Halloween ornaments have arrived - super-cute as usual! All are presented as complete kits of 14ct perforated paper with all their necessary sequins or tiny smattering of beads. Too hard to choose just one, get 'em all... once the stitching is done, back them with sticky felt or pretty scrapbook paper, and then cut them out. They make cute magnets, pumpkin pokes or hanging ornaments!
Halloween Spooktacular Ornaments from The Tiny Modernist This is a three-leaflet set of 12 small 4 x 4 inch designs. Cuter than cute, it's a fantastic set of coordinating 'personalities' that I find charming. Worked on a darker background, all with the same 7 shades of DMC - Cheryl has these coded for Weeks hand-dyeds as well. Very vintage in feel, she also includes a digital pic of the entire set stitched together.
'Twas All Hallows Eve from The Tiny Modernist This is an ongoing piece... we have three of the four charts pictured here... 4th section to come by this October. The whole thing measures 169 x 169 - so a generous 10 x 10 on 16/32 ct. Stitched with either hand-dyeds or DMC, you can stitch them individually and leave off the border... or join them, once that 4th section comes. Just love that floral pumpkin! Each section is a single page chart on heavy stock - full color printing, so they are very nice. If you order the first three we will not hold them for the 4th... we'll ship them now, and the 4th later on.

Owlvira Owl is the house manager. She has a room in the attic where she plans all the entertainment for each frightful night. The Stitch Guide includes behind the scene stories for each side of the house. Fences with garlands of purple lights surround the house, and the front door has a spider knocker. Ghosts, grimacing pumpkins, frogs, bats, spiders, skeletons, monsters and one menacing mummy appear on the 4 sides of the house, and you will find more creatures on the roof and in the creepy crawl space below. Owlvira's attic room features a spider web rug and black felt walls for needles and pins (and a little frog charm). Using DMC (B5200, 209, 310, 581, 646, 648, 740, 741, 900, 937, 947, 972, 3032, 3787, 3837, 3819) and 4 shades of Weeks Floss ( London Fog, Bark, Autumn Leaves and Onyx), stitch the house as one piece on one large piece of linen. The 4 roof sectionsare stitched on another, and Owlvira on a third piece of fabric. Linen choices are Weeks 32 CT Tin Roof Linen. Finished size for the bungalow is approx. 51/2" X 21/4." We are offering fat quarter cuts for fabric, to ensure you have enough for proper piece placement. Owlvira is stitched as one piece, then folded in half. Black and purple beads sparkle on her chest and her eyes are hypnotic orange sequins. A bat flies across a harvest moon on her back. Black hairpin wires are included for her "feet" and a bronze bead and purple flower sequin for her hat. Owl is not available separately. Materials included: Color cover, 12-page Stitch Guide, Linen Layout page, 24" of ribbon, black felt, 1 piece of cardboard, beads, owl eye sequins, 2 hairpin wires, spider charm, verdigris frog charm, bronze bead and purple flower. Sold out for all this time, Owlvira's Frightful House has come to 'save the day' or 'scare away the rest of the neighborhood!' She is VERY LIMITED and will NOT last till Halloween! Autumn Mix Another little "Mix" of seasonal florals by Nan, joining Wintery, Jasmine, & Pansy Mixes... it's time for Pumpkins and all the pretty colors! Leaves, grapes, pumpkins, acorns, apples, purple asters along with a chrysanthemum are all 'Mixed" in here! Stitched on 32ct Raw Belfast with DMC and Peach Cobbler Week hand-dyed floss, this finishes petite 3-ish inches - just like its seasonal companions. Presented as a chart with embellishments included.

New September Releases from Rosewood Manor
NOW, we have 4 more of Karen's cool pumpkin designs, all of them are stitched on Picture this Plus's 32ct Haunted hand-dyed linen and coded for DMC flosses. This makes 15 so far! Rosewood Manor's Newest ON THE PUMPKINS Karen has released more of her cute mini-pumpkin designs - all stitched on Picture This Plus' Haunted hand-dyed linen. The deep blue/green/purple background color really makes the bright orange and greens that she uses POP. Coded for DMC floss, each of these is about 4 or 5 inches in size, and as you can tell from the pics, you can finish them in numerous different ways. Cute, colorful and fun, something else to perch in a cauldron of candy or next to some little pumpkins on your counter. We have lots of similar shades of fabrics in various counts for these - 14 to 40!
We Are All A Little Batty Here! from AB Designs Amy has finished her set of darling little Halloween 'people'... who are all being batty together! Stitched on bright purple fabric (lots of great choices and counts in that area), all of it is done with DMC floss. Amy had introduced this piece in parts... but now all have been released, and since the color key appears ONLY in the first chart... it needs to come to you as the complete set of the 7 charts. Super cute and colorful, the stitch count is 181 x 146... so it'll finish 10 x 13 on 14ct for instance. You can stitch each 'person' individually; they would make darling stand-up blocks, or pumpkin pokes... or even pokes to stick up from the candy dish!
A Little Halloween from Primrose Cottage Stitches Several new charts are here... all published in 4-color leaflet format with huge, colorful, easy-to-follow charts. They like to put the finished model pics on the inside pages beside the chart offering a nice glimpse of what you are stitching.

Hello Halloween Book from Teresa Kogut! This is a book that contains 11 full color Halloween designs. The main Sampler shown the cover is so cool! I love love love all the repeating rows of motifs, and the repeating cat border. The differently dressed witches are cute, and the haunted house at the bottom makes a great pic of it own - especially if you add that tree over on the left. 220 x 330 - This finishes approx 12 x 18 on 36ct... a mixture of DMC's and hand-dyeds. Shown above are just 3 of the included designs: Vintage Cats are in here... stitched on Weeks Tiger Eye hand-dyed linen... each measures a generous 4-1/2 x 7-1/2. Onward Black Kitty is quite the vision! Looks like it came from an antique postcard... I think kitty is more scared of the moon than the witch! The Goode Witch - another offering in the book... here's another that you can split apart - do just the kitty on pumpkin, or leave that part out, and now the scarecrow is getting the prize offered by the witch!
This is Halloween from The Drawn Thread Cynthia Zittel has a fun new Halloween design... a haunted house with its graveyard and resident spiders and ghosts - all underneath the most glorious gnarly tree! She's put a lot in here - skeletons, ghosts, bats and pumpkins - all of it measures 183 x 74. Notice that huge eerie yellow moon behind the tree - soft and golden, spooky and seemingly quiet - for now! It'll finish approx 11 x 4-1/2 on 32ct... and it would make a stunning drum-shaped stand-up, if you're 'framed out, or an awfully cute flat stand-up to perch on a sill or someplace!
Three New Arrivals from Autumn Lane Stitchery
| |
3 Little Boos Kit from Val's Stuff Val's Stuff has a trio of small 1 and1-1/2 inch designs that are worked on the new 18ct perforated paper vs 14ct. They remind me of big postage stamps. Cute as can be, the kit includes the paper, backing felt, chart and pin backers. Use bits of DMC from your stash... these are bright and fun - they'd make cute magnets too.
Limited Editon Halloween from Val's Stuff Val's Stuff has been busy designing Halloween and Wintery things... giving us plenty of stitching time before we're ready for scares and snow again! And don't miss the newest Plant Poke! Halloween Favorites Book II Limited - A set of 6 paper ornaments - all worked on 14ct perf paper. You'll need bits of floss from your stash, but all the stitching papers, the orange, purple, green and black backing felts, eye buttons, bead teeth, and little ghost and star buttons are included. Val's individual ornament kits usually run about $14 or $16 each... but this special collection has SIX for $50!
New Designs By Jennie Lane *Hand made stitch works by Jennie Lane* is the colorful designer name logo on these two new designs... and they are delightful!
| |
The Pumpkins of Rosewood Manor! Karen Kluba is working on a set of ultra-colorful pumpkins... she has11 so far... and we've presented 5 of them here! (Click through to see the rest!) Owls, Spiders, Acorns and Toads, Bats, Candy and even Mr and Mrs, the set is delightful. Funky shaped pumpkins 4 to 5 inches each - no two are alike. You have to LOOK into the designs to find those bats and toads, but they are all in there and fun to find. Coded for DMC floss, you could add some beads or metallics from your stash if you want. Some of the charts come with buttons or charms, but not all of them. Offered in small chart format, all of them are stitched on Picture this Plus's 32ct Haunted hand-dyed linen - which is a gorgeous aqua/teal/blue-gray color. THE PERFECT contrast to the bright colors, we have models in the shop and they just POP on that gorgeous fabric. (You'll be able to get 6 pumpkins out of a fat quarter...and we also have Dawn, Echo and Nocturne as awesome alternatives.)
Autumn Harvest By Jennie Lane *Hand made stitch works by Jennie Lane* is the colorful designer name logo on these new designs (we have another on our Christmas Page)... and they are delightful! Autumn Harvest is a stack of pumpkins that finishes approx 4 x 4 on 40ct Weeks Parchment hand-dyed linen. Stitched with Gentle Art and Weeks hand-dyed flosses, they feature some specialty stitches - Smyrna Crosses and Satins - for a lot of extra texture and fun. Just a little unexpected and a nice touch. Presented in a full color 6 x 9 chart.
When Witches Go Riding from The Tiny Modernist You might have been seeing this design these past few months, while the pieces and parts were releasing, but we've waited until we had the whole set together to offer it. Stitched on 32ct Natural Linen, the whole thing measures 143 x 234 - so 9 x 14-1/2 on 32ct. Worked with B5200 (2), one skein each of Classic's Mossy and Rainy Day, Baking Tin (3), and 2 skeins of DMC black. We like it because it's so monochromatic, but not really! Witches go riding, black cats are seen, the moon laughs and whispers 'tis near Halloween! All 4 charts gathered together.
Autumn Pin Drum from Kathy Barrick Stitch this delightful little piece - I love that stuffed pumpkin on the top! Stitched on Weeks Dye Works 36ct Beige linen with Weeks and DMC flosses... the entire thing is only 4 x 9 when flat. Roll it into the drum shape and top it Lady Dot's hand-dyed velveteen... and make that stuffed pumpkin out of more velveteen. Then, cover your seams with baby rik-rak and you'll be good to go. Great colors, Kathy has three different 'views' on her cover - it looks totally different from all the angles too!
The Collectors, Hocus Pocus and Something Wicked This Way Comes from Autumn Lane Stitchery Autumn Lane has some new designs -- some a little more 'intense' than others!
| |
Poltergeist Pirates from Glendon Place Glendon Place's Cheryl has designed a friendly pirate ship that isn't as scary as the skulls on there would like! Stitched on Crossed Wing's hand-dyed BANG! linen... Charted for DMC floss, Cheryl has featured 6 colors of Rainbow Gallery's Silk Lame' braid in this and several Just Another Company clay button embellishments. The Lame is a silk-rayon blend with touches of opalescent metallic in it - gives a shimmer! So, the ghosts are glow-in-the-dark, and so is the skull on the flag. The lightest blue in the waves is stitched with the Lame in frosty blue. I like the shark in the water, the dragon on the front of the ship, the ghosts clinging to the masts, but the little skeleton crow steals the show! He's got his captains hat on, and he's on guard! Offered as the chart, we have the Lame' threads, the fabric and buttons all gathered together as a set - because you really need all the right things to capture the charm of this cute piece.
Ghoul's Crossing from Praiseworthy Stitches Pam and Susan have a new Haunted Halloween Party House for 2021. *Come Ghoulies, Shriek, Growl and Dance!* Joining their collection of other busy houses... this one is just as colorful as the others, but a little different in finished size. It's a whopping 28 x 14 on 32ct Picture This Plus 'Haunted' linen, and it's garnished with a collection of JABCO clay spiders, bats, pumpkins and a little caldron button. We have several of their models in the shop, and it's fun to find smaller take-out design areas to stitch smaller versions. The dramatic fabric highlights all the cute little ghosts and kids, the trees are all scraggly, the spider webs are thin metallic... a lot of fun things happening on ALL of their Halloween and Christmas Scenes! Presented as a chart... fabrics, buttons and extensive thread list (of 49 hand-dyed skeins or 34 Skeins of DMC and the metallic) are all offered separately. (Fabric and button info TBA)
Black Halloween Series from Twin Peak Primitives There is a lot you can do with this trio of designs. Right now, they are simply black on white. Think about neat fabric colors from your stash with that same black stitching. Or... use a hand-dyed black for more effect. You could add a few stitches of just one color to make them POP - like gold metallic for pumpkin eyes, or black metallics for the spider. Super simple and understated... they'd make striking Halloween decorations.
Jack O Lantern Jubilee from With Thy Needle & Thread Has Arrived! Brenda Gervais of With Thy Needle is releasing a fun new collection of Halloween pin cushions! Presented in leaflet format - like Jelly Bean Jubilee - this is a set of 6 cushions - all stitched with various hand-dyed flosses. Colors used are 3771, 3778, Onyx, Oscar, Pelican Gray, Ultraviolet, Pumpkin, Putty, Carrot, Gold Leaf, Fragrant Cloves, Grecian Gold, Brandy, Avocado, Eggshell, Gingerbread, Hickory Sticks and Copper Penny. Fabric shown is R & R's 40ct Brenda's Brew. For a limited time, we have 36ct Brenda's Brew Linen rather than 40ct. The 36 is lovely! What a fun collection of smalls!
Creepy Pumpkin Stackers from Praiseworthy Stitches Wow. this is a creative way to finish your stitching! Pam and Susan have designed three various-sized stitched pumpkins and then shown you how to finish/assemble them for a cute stacking Halloween display. The feature is the ANTIQUE WOODEN SPOOL they are stacked around! You can choose any three colors of fabric you like for your pumpkins - they tell you how to adjust the templates if you change from the 32ct Weeks Chestnut, Tiger's Eye and Cappucino choices used. Stitching is done with Weeks, Gentle Art and Kreinik threads, with some Mill Hill beads and a JABCO spider button. (You can get creative from your stash with creepies to embellish this too!) Next, assemble the pumpkins - you are leaving the centers open - and then placing them over the spool to stand up! FOR NOW the antique spools are included with the charts - so neat!
I Love Cats! from Marnic Designs Here's an interesting design... check out all these little kitties all curvy and quilty and cute! Stitch it as is... or maybe split up the cats and do some individual cushions or something! Certainly change the colors if the orange and black aren't your favorites... do them in Simply Wools... use metallic for the eyes, right now the orange touches are beads... you could keep that or just make stitches instead. Fabric... definitely use something different than Aida - go over two threads because you want all the face detail and the cat curves... maybe you have a cool color already in your stash? There is a lot you can do with this with this fun and really creative charted design!
Bittersweet Trio from Waxing Moon Designs A sweet trio of Autumnal designs that finish just 4 x 5 each on 28ct natural linen. Coded for either DMC or Weeks hand-dyeds, they are very pretty little pieces that would be stunning as cushions all tucked into a little bowl or basket. The borders would be pretty stitched as Sawtooth Satins, and you could change out the bittersweet berries with petite seed beads! All three charts are included.
Something Wicked Box & Smalls and Banner & Biscornu from Sue Hillis Designs Sue Hillis has two new books that feature delightfully fun sets of designs for Halloween, and then really concentrate on all the finishing details for everything in the sets.
| |
Halloween? I Can't, I'm Stitching! from Jardin Prive Well, maybe take some time off to Trick or Treat? By Jardin Prive, she suggests your witch can have green skin! Just 8 shades of DMC in this 126 x 86 count piece... my eye sees three separate pin cushions across the top. I see the witch stitching. Then, I see another section - another cushion - of the scissors, floss and Boo. (You could even split that one into two!) Then, I see the house and tree scene! There are lots of fun possibilities with this one!
Halloween Sampler II and Christmas Sampler II from Cottage Garden Samplings This is a pair of seasonal alphabet pieces that are neat in their own ways!
| |
Sow Kindness from Hands to Work 'They that sow kindness gather love.' This is a charming row of houses featuring that great verse - finish it flat in a frame, or roll it like this charming drum! Worked on Picture This Plus Ale linen, it uses Classic and Gentle Art hand-dyed flosses. The chart is beautifully printed inside. (One of the shop gals, who had a self-imposed-buying-restriction this week, caved, and opened this one up before she bought it. The chart is HUGE, and the center lines are printed in red. A quick and easy stitch!
The Owls of October II from Just Nan! *When the night turns black and the moon shines yellow...* Here come 4 intense owls from Just Nan, each coordinating, but stitched with different colors on their bodies and wings, and wild eyes! The first Owls of October were released in 2011... it's time for more! Six designs in the chart, you get the 4 owls along with the top and bottom panel designs. If you aren't a 'cube finisher,' consider making a set of individual pin cushions... these little guys would be spectacular peeking out of a bowl of little stitched cushions! Worked on 32ct Vintage Country Mocha Linen with DMC, the chart includes beads, black decorative pins for the corners, bronze beads for cube 'feet' and cardboard cube base.
Grateful Hearts by Mary Engelbreit from Imaginating Imaginating has charted the artwork of Mary Engelbreit, and presented it in a leaflet format. I'm not sure how old the actual picture is, but the charting is new for 2020. Coded for DMC, it measures 168 x 142, so finishes approx 10 x 12 on 14/28ct. The model is shown on Aida, but working on Lugana or Linen is MUCH EASIER because of all the half-placed backstitching on this. With Aida, you have to MAKE your own holes... with anything over two - you HAVE that perfectly spaced middle hole already. Next... notice the bottom is solid stitching. It is #369... and it's a MILLION stitches. Consider doing those in half stitches - along with the peachy-part in the center. It's lovely this way, but there are a ton of stitches there that you could probably do without, and not ruin the charm of the picture! Just a thought!
Salem from Jardin Prive By Jardin Prive, here are some cute owls and a trio of really unfortunate Jack-o-Lanterns! I think they're getting ready to go Trick or Treating! Coded for DMC, they finish about 6 x 6 on 32ct. Actually, I think the owls are super cute - wouldn't they be cute as individual pin cushions?
Teeny Witch from Imaginating This is a Mary Engelbreit design charted by Imaginating! On 14ct it measures 4 x 7 and it uses 24 different shades of DMC floss. The chart is huge, and easy to work with. There are lots of 1/4 stitches that get crossed with your backstitching. A lot of people don't like tat effect, but since the chart is so large, they are really easy to deal with on this!
Some Dramatic Pieces from Autumn Lane Stitchery Here are 4 designs that are coded for DMC floss, but beg for some fun metallics to be added in - by YOU!
| |
Tis H'owl'oween from Val's Stuff A fun chart that comes with clay button eyes, green leaf buttons, and felt pieces to make those leaves. I'm thinking though... if you have some rust or orange felt... you may want to toss some of that Fall color into your leaves! You'll need flosses from your stash for this, can it can be stitched on just about any fabric you like.
Barbara Ana's *Girls* are Getting Ready for Halloween! Barbara Ana has new designs that are actually pretty entertaining when you study them! Can you find the little dangling lizards (I Believe those would be Newts?) Each pic has a cute little cat, and all the pumpkins, vines, dresses, and quilty design elements everywhere add pops of color. Break up some of the motifs and make some individual pin cushions - the cat with the basket of pumpkins is pretty cute... or you could stitch the witch faces on one side of a pin cushion and personalize your friends names on the other side! (depends on your friends, I guess.) Anyway, presented in three different charts, all are worked on 32ct white. Witchy Pantry finishes about 6 x 6, Three Witches finishes approx 12 x 7-1/2, and Witchy Harvest finishes approx 8 x 6. All are coded for regular DMC floss.
Halloween Hoedown from Petal Pusher Oh my gosh, this is the CUTEST design! It's a whole little barnyard of animals all dressed up for Halloween! Presented in 5 single charts, each 4 x 4 design - stitched on any neutral 32ct - can be stitched alone, or joined together with a Halloween Hoedown banner border. The whole piece measures 16 x 5. (That border chart is offered Free - details inside each of these charts.) Anyway, we get Moo-Ella DeVil, Ewe Witch, Cluck Cluck Boo, Bat Pig and Captain Black Mane. All charted for DMC floss... I don't know which section is my favorite!
Halloween Calendar by Tiny Modernist This is a fun piece... each day of the month has its own 32 x 31 square, and all of them feature something different, small and CUTE! Stitched on 32ct Twilight Blue linen - we have some dynamite Picture This Plus hand-dyeds that Praiseworthy Stitches features for all their Christmas and Haunted Houses that would be really cool with this as well. This finishes approx 10-1/2 x 15-1/2 on 32ct. NOW... WHAT IF... you re-arrange the dates on the days of the week - the 13th of the month doesn't HAVE to be Tuesday. You can make tiny 1 or 2-inch pin cushions out of each different date square. You can make individual stand-up blocks out of each one, you can use the Trick or Treat and Boo boxes and choose 3 more to stitch 5 cubes all in a row - you can do ANYTHING! As cute as can be, this is coded for only 14 shades of regular DMC floss. (Ohhh what about beads and thin metallics and some buttons?)
Autumn Mouse Scissor Roll & Embellishments from Just Nan This is the third design in Nan's series called Mouse on a Roll. All scissor rolls in the series will be the same size, and each features a guardian mouse. The rolls are designed to hold 31/2" or 4" scissors of your choice. Each of the mouse garden scenes on the outside of the roll features a mouse (or 2) and a moment in an autumn garden. Look for an apple tree with gathered apples beneath it; a mouse on a pumpkin sitting on a fence; a scarecrow with sunflowers and crows, and an outdoor fireplace for chilly nights. Fall flowers separate the scenes which are grounded with graphic autumn leaf patterns. The scenes are embellished with sparkling purple beads. A gold cluster of grapes charm marks the closure. Inside, 3 little helper mice scurry through acorns, grapes and apples to a secret pumpkin patch - the padded pocket for the scissors. Find a fourth mouse behind one of the pumpkins! The verse: "Where pumpkins hide, scissors slide." Use DMC floss and Weeks 2239a Carolina Cecil to stitch the roll as one long piece on Zweigart 32 CT Vintage Country Mocha Belfast Linen. Form a scissor pocket with the overdyed wool backing, sew on a snap and roll it up! Four mouse garden scenes will show on the outside, the path to the scissors and verse will be inside and your scissors will stand at attention in the middle. Place Harvest Mouse on top of the roll to guard the scissors. Harvest Mouse is stitched on Weeks 32 CT Grape Ice Linen. Her dress is decorated with autumn fruit and flowers and purple beads. Her hat is a copper bead cap, her tail is gold wired string and she is holding a satin maple leaf. She is not available separately. Complete finishing instructions for the roll and the mouse are in the Stitch Guide.
Pumpkin Patch, Truck and House... The Pumpkin Farm Series from Shannon Christine Designs This is a cute three-part set of 4 x 4-ish designs that all go together, so we're offering them as the set. Coded for DMC floss you can stitch them all in one row, or make a cube - and decorate the three sides that are showing with each of these designs. Just something fun and cute for the season!
Halloween Party 159 x 190 - A 10-inch circle of cute mini-motifs coded for DMC, this begs for metallics, beads, and maybe some frizzies for the spider legs! By Les Petites Croix De Lucie, presented as a pair of charts - one chart has the backstitching lines printed in color, for clarity.
Field Mouse Hollow from With Thy Needle - Due in the shop next week Brenda Gervais has announced a new pattern with little witch mice in their garden of bittersweet. The big 'ol witch shoe might be the 'house' they are Trick-or-Treating!!! Finishing about 5-1/2 x 6-1/2, it'd make a cute hanging pillow over a doorknob somewhere. It would also be cute perched as a cushion in that Halloween Candy Basket you might have already started! (You know the one where you buy the Halloween candy NOW, so you'll HAVE it to give away at Halloween... all you find in the trash are wrappers that nobody knows anything about!) The inference of mice in their candy might scare them away! This comes as a chart... hand-dyed flosses.
A Witch's Hat of Bats from Bent Creek Marsha and Elizabeth have finally done another design in their *Thing of Things* Series! Just in time for Halloween - which really IS just around the corner - stitch this cute little hat full of bats, cats, pumpkins, and a little spider! Lots happening in there! Presented as a complete kit, you get the 18ct natural linen and DMC #5 Pearl Cottons. Measuring just 6 x 6 when finished, make a box stand-up for a cute holiday decoration. These kits are just like my Secret Needle Night designs - same size, same fabric, same threads (only we toss in some Rainbow Gallery specialties.) A great size for in-the-car-stitching... everyone loves something fun and quick to stitch now and then! There are at least 10 other Things of Things in this series - Candy Canes, Candy Corn, Snowmen, Ornaments, Pumpkins and Leaves, Easter Eggs.
Halloween Shoes and Halloween Hats from Imaginating Quite a fun sampling of expressive shoes and hats for the season! Measuring 6 x 6 on 18ct, and coded for DMC floss, it might be fun to do these with some metallics to brighten them up a little... maybe add some beads? Just fun pieces! Presented as leaflets.

| |
Black Cat Hollow - All Three Parts! from Barbara Ana This is a whole village scene complete with pumpkin vine border, little haunted houses, black cats, and witches with big behinds!!!! (better them, than me!) Cute as can be, it is full of stars and moons, lots of Autumn vegetation and witches and bats everywhere. Originally released in three separate charts, we have all of them together, so you can have the set at one time rather than chasing down all the parts. *Double double toil and trouble, fire burn and cauldron bubble.* Measuring 151 in stitch count, this will finish approx 11 x 11 on 28ct, and is charted for just 9 shades of regular DMC floss! Go for it, and add hand-dyeds, metallics for the house windows and bats... wool thread for the cats??
Halloween Sampler from Cottage Garden Samplings What a cute medley of Halloween-themed words all bunched together into this alphabet piece! Stitched mostly in hand-dyed blacks (There are three different shades in here... Blackboard, Raven and Soot!), you get just a hint of bright coppers and oranges here and there! Finishing approx 10 x 10 on 32ct, they suggest Weeks Dye Works Havana Linen, which comes in several counts. Maybe add a little black Petite Treasure Metallic Braid to the capital letters???? Offered as a chart.
Pumpkins Thieves and Black Cat New from Madame Chantilly Halloween patterns are flying into the shop - just like they're on witches brooms!!!!!
| |
Scary Berry from Erica Michaels Oh my gosh, Erica Michaels continues her super-charming miniature stitched berry cushion collection with pair of Halloween designs! We always get one 2 x 3-1/2 inch-ish cushion stitched on linen (linen berry) with no background stitching, and another with a totally different design that is stitched on 40ct silk gauze (silk berry) -- background is stitched. I cannot tell you how CUTE these are... we have a trunk show in the shop right now, and it is one of my very favorites... I think 48 different berries! You CAN stitch the silk version on linen and linen on silk... they call for hand-dyed flosses and frequently use Week's wools for the topping treatments. Silk berry chart comes with cut of 40ct silk gauze. Finishing is basic - even though it looks scary -- like the designs, I guess!
Autumn and Halloween are on their Way from With Thy Needle & Thread! Due in the shop August 8th... they are all charts... here's the scoop!!!!
| |
Autumn Blessings from Waxing Moon Designs *May your blessings be as countless as the autumn leaves.* A simple message delivered with the yummiest of Autumn colors... pull out your Weeks hand-dyed flosses of Straw, Guacamole, Driftwood, Amber, Havana, Oscar, Gold, Daylily, Sweet Potato and Terra Cotta. This finishes about 8 inches square on 16/32ct. Frame it, make a pillow, or just mount the flat fabric to a piece of wool, and let it be a flat table mat! (Easy to store away as a seasonal decoration that way, and a neat way to show off some of your primitive stitching talents - if you have those too!)
Sugar Skull from Imaginating This is super-energetic on color... Imaginating's Sugar Skull is quite an eyecatcher! Coded for DMC floss, it finishes approx 8 x 10 on 14/28ct. No special stitches or anything... just a fun design for Sugar Skull Lovers!
Happy Halloween Companions from Artful Offerings This is just a cute design to make you smile! By Artful Offerings, it is stitched on Week's Havana linen (several counts available, on 30ct this finishes about 6 x 7) and calls for Sampler Threads or DMC. You could stitch the kitty in fuzzy black threads -- we have several options, you could add glass beads for the spider and cat eyes -- you could do the moon, bow tie and kitty hat in Fyre Werks metallic... you could bead the border... or add a couple more rows of a complimenting color to make it more jaggedy! Lots of options with this, because it has 'good bones!' Presented as a chart.
Halloween Quaker from Lila's Studio WOW, is this a cool piece!!!!! By Lila's Studio, this is stitched on Picture This Plus's Murky Linen -- it's a dark, drab but dramatic muddy grey-brown fabric! (Simply delicious, as it's name does not suggest!) Halloween Quaker measures a generous 261 x 180, so it finishes approx 16 x 11 on 32ct. Stitched with Classic Colorworks hand-dyed flosses, this has several cool elements to it. The Quaker-inspired motifs are fun, especially the unusual spiders in one, and the black cats in another. That little village at the bottom is cool, the witch legs and boots are colorful, but your eye really goes to that silouette right in the center! Beautiful colors of thread against that fabric, chart calls for 40ct... we can order that for you... 32 is a little less scary to see!
Weed It and Reap! I have always loved this little guy! Definitely an *oldie but goodie* chart -- it was published in 1996! (The price is $5!!!) A cute little scarecrow is tending his organized vegetable garden -- it measures about 8 x 8 on 32ct. Lesley designed this before all the hand-dyeds were prevalent... so you might be able to grab some cool colors from your stash, rather than doing all the blended needle colors she's called for in here! Just a timeless little design -- presented in a leaflet.
Autumn Willow One of several new Hillside releases... I love this charming willow tree 'dripping' with Lazy Daisy branches wilting down to the Scotch-Stitched grass and hand-dyed pumpkins! Smyrna Crosses in the border, Satin in the tree trunk, this petite piece is stitched on 40ct Sandstone linen using Weeks overdyeds of Cocoa, Kudzu, Whiskey, Carrot and Chrysanthemum, and it is stunning!!! Finishing a mere 4 x 5 on the 40ct... it can be larger if you choose a different fabric. The special stitches give lots of texture and interest in this. Offered as a leaflet... check out all the other new things by Hillside as well!
A Trio of New Punch Needle Designs from Teresa Kogut!!! Super-Cute designs presented as line drawings to transfer onto provided weaver's cloth, each of these is punched with hand-dyed or DMC flosses.
| |
Giving Thanks from The Workbasket The Workbasket has a pair of designs sharing some of the same motifs with a Thanksgiving flavor. Squirrels and squash accompany acorns and corn on the cob. Charted for Classic Colorworks silks or DMC floss... the silks are almost $8 each... pull the DMC and convert those to hand-dyed cottons! Then, see about doing some contour stitching on here. See the squirrel? See the horizontal lines on him? If you stitch him following the outside curve of his tail, he will look much better. The basket is OK with horizontal lines, but the pumpkin needs vertical lines as well. The hand-dyed colors on the corn and leaves are spaced well... see what you can do with threads on that squirrel and pumpkin to give this your own special touch! Both designs are presented in this chart.
Squirrely Acorn Banquet from Artful Offerings A banquet of Acorns stashed away in this little guy's very best top hat... isn't he spiffy and cute? Stitched on Weeks 32ct Parchment linen this finishes approx 7-1/2 x 6-1/2, and is coded for DMC floss. You might want to grab a few of the hand-dyeds from your stash too... just for fun! Presented as a chart, you could add some Just Another Button Company acorn buttons to the border, or maybe some leaves!
Full Moon Halloween from Imaginating Here's a festive design with lots of visual impact! Presented as a leaflet, this design measures 134 x 160 -- or approx 10 x 11-1/2 on 28ct. The Moon is UNSTITCHED. You are working the blue background of the evening sky, and leaving that moon empty! Then, the spooky little house and graveyard scene dresses the bottom of the piece -- so darn CUTE! Just 6 colors of DMC floss, it caught my eye, because it is so different from everything else we have!
Moonlight Haunting from Blackberry Lane Designs Blackberry Lane's Marie Driskill has designed the most delighfully colorful Halloween-y night scene! Presented as a chart, it is stitched on Picture This Plus' 32ct Mirage Linen with 15 different hand-dyed shades of flosses. Finishing only 4 x 5-ish, (we're cutting 9 x 9 in size) there is a little toad down there in the left-hand bottom corner that she says you could stitch as an individual fob as well. The giant moon has that wonderful smiling face, the Jack looks great too, not to mention all the circling bats -- and everything is set against that wonderfully dark, moving sky color! It'll finish small enough for a pin cushion but you can make your pillow larger with the fabric strips and cool trims in the cover model pic.
NEW Just Nan Autumn and Halloween 2016! Oh we are in for a treat from Just Nan! We have three new things that are KILLER CUTE!

Over The River from Jeannette Douglas Oh, this is a super-gorgeous, super-textured piece full of Autumn flavor... do Grandma's House for Thanksgiving instead of Christmas! Choose a neutral 32ct linen, your silk threads are all cinnamons, browns, brick reds, ambers, teals, mossy greens, a bit of cream and even some aqua metallic to make the little river glisten! Jeannette has packed this full of special stitches -- the border is Saw Tooth, then that gorgeous section of small star motifs on the upper left -- they are all Milanese and Scotch. The water is all Satin, the turkey is over one... and lots more Milanese in the bottom row of leaves. I think by the pic you can tell the variety of pretty colors in here -- in person, the model is just stunning! It finishes approx 9 x 12-1/2, and is offered as a leaflet with threads (Gloriana, Silk 'n Colors, Splendor, Needlepoint Inc and Accentuate metallic) separately. (This is not, however, coded for DMC.)
Pumpkin Row from Erica Michaels Pumpkins at morning, Pumpkins at noon, If it weren't for pumpkins, we should be undoon. This is very cute -- lots of brilliant and bold color in the rows of pumpkins -- this is offered as a chart, and offers three different stitching and finishing options.
| |
The Drawn Thread's 2015 Fall Releases are Here! Cynthia has been busy, and has sent REAL CUTE new things for Autumn and Halloween. Everything is offered in chart format and for a short while, we have silk thread packs for most of it! Special stitches here and there -- nothing is too involved so you'll have fun stitching all of them. Do you remember seeing her working on these models while she was here for our Event this past summer??????
| |
Wilhelmina and Eat, Drink & Be Scary from AB Designs AB Designs has a pair of new charts for Halloween that over-the-top colorful, funky and wild -- just like so many of her other creations!!! Both are presented as the charts with a few button embellishments. Stitch them on Weeks purple, orange, green or yellow hand-dyed linens... there are tons of color choices!
| |
The Witch's Inn from Barbara Ana Oh this is cute!!! Make it a TWO-SIDED pin cushion!!! One side features the Witch's Inn with the welcoming key hanging from the sign. You could garnish this with pumpkin buttons, bats and spiders... all sorts of cute stuff. The other side, however, is too cute to pass up! It has the witch sleeping in bed -- inside the Bed and Breakfast -- her kitties on and under the bed with her! Witch shoes are underneath there too! Since 1692... has she been sleeping that long... or has this place been in business that long? Front side finishes approx 7-1/2 x 3-1/2. Smaller design is 4-1/2 x 3. I think they'd be really fun finished back to back as a two-sided cushion! Offered as the chart, coded for DMC floss and stitched on 32ct Flax Linen (but you could choose some scary hand-dyed fabrics as well).
Halloween Royal Family from Madame Chantilly Isn't this a ridiculous little piece of Halloween charm??? By Madame Chantilly, this should bring a smile to your face, it does to ours. Measuring 161 x 123, it is coded for DMC floss but you know, metallics and bead embellishments would be great on this! See what your stash holds in store for you!!! Just think this is darling! Offered as a chart.
Seedy Pumpkin Cottage from Praiseworthy Stitches Praiseworthy Stitches has released their 8th annual haunted house scene and this year's is SO AWESOME! Seedy Pumpkin Cottage is full of wispy ghosts, shiny spider webs, black cats and carved pumpkins... and all of it is underneath the glowing Jack-O-Lantern Moon. Stitched on Picture This Plus's 32ct Echo Linen (an awesome grey/teal midnight-sky color), there is so much going on in here that it has enchanted us in the shop! The model arrived today -- patterns should be here soon -- clay button embellishments and fabric follows later this week. Finishing approx 21 x 15... it is HUGE and quite the eye-catcher! Coded for DMC or Weeks and Gentle Art hand-dyeds you'll need multiple skeins of 12 of the 41 colors called for, along with silver metallic for the spider webs, petite Mill Hill glass beads and a FULL clay button pack of spiders, ghosts, bats and even a little owl. The white fence around the porch is really neat because it is done with long stitches of white thread but they have added three teeny orange beads to each railing post -- it glistens! Yes... this might take all year to stitch... but WOW, what a fun and creative seasonal decoration that everyone can enjoy year after year!!! Seedy Pumpkin Cottage is the place to be on The Big Night!!!!!
The Yikesberries from Erica Michaels OH THESE ARE SO COOL!!! Erica Michaels has outdone herself with this pair of Halloween Strawberry Pincushions! Presented in chart format -- one is stitched on Picture This Plus's 32ct Jewel Belfast hand-dyed linen and the other on bitty 40ct silk gauze -- they each use Weeks or DMC floss. These are the first in Linda's new set of DARLING berries (I talk to her all the time, and I know a Christmas berry is coming!) Anyway, your LINEN Yikesberry measures approx 2-1/2 inches wide and 4 inches long, features a stacked button stem and a bit of black felt for it's leaves. The GAUZE Yikesberry is only 1-1/2 inches wide and 2 inches long -- a miniature version of the larger. Each of the two charts are slightly different -- can you see the design differences in my pics? I have a pair of 4-inch scissors in there as well, so you can see the scale of these. Absolutely the CUTEST little things EVER... they finish in a similar fashion to Just Nan's little mice -- a stitched 'half-circle' area that is folded together --sort of like an ice-cream cone. You need these!
Playing with Jax from The Cricket Collection Cross Eyed Cricket's Vicki Hastings has a new Halloween design -- a nifty arrangement of delightfully different pumpkins and ghourds! All five in the group are really cool... and I think my favorite is that black and charcoal one on the right. Stitched on 28 Sandstone or a yummy golden hand-dyed fabric, this finishes approx 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 and is worked in 29 DMC floss shades. DO NOT MISS the little bonus Halloween owl -- Little Boo -- up there in the mitten design in the upper right corner! Vicki has a million different mitten designs for you collectors -- they have been topping TONS of her leaflets for years!
A Smidgen of Halloween from Heart in Hand Heart in Hand has a new tiny design, and it's really cute! Just a bitty medley of even bittier stuff, it finishes approx 3 x 4 on 32 -- but choose something else to do it on if you want to. The small card chart comes with an orange button (down there by the 31st) and a few green and white beads you'll use in eyes and that top border. I think that green jack-o-lantern is so funny -- he steals the whole picture! Just a *Smidge* of a thing!
Gobble & Give Thanks from Heart in Hand Here's a neat piece -- perch it flat on your table or horizontally on the wall! Absolutely precious, this has a stitch count of 21 high by 269 wide -- so it is approx 1-1/3 inches by almost 17 worked on 32ct Lambswool linen. It would be so cute as a stuffed cushion filled with walnut shells -- decorating the dining room table or perched on a windowsill!!! Charted for DMC or overdyeds, there is a set of clay buttons embellishing -- it has leaves, birds and pumpkins. Quite a fast piece to work up, the chart is printed very large inside the leaflet, and I'm thinking just an evening or two TOPS to get this stitched! It is CUTE! Offered as the leaflet with buttons separate.
Halloween Parade from AB Designs This is SO CUTE! Ms Amy has outdone herself with this fun pagent of Trick-or-Treat hopefuls! Worked on the delicious 30ct Weeks Peoria Purple Linen in both Weeks and Gentle Art overdyeds, it finishes a petite 6 x 9. You can do the whole thing, or split everyone up and make smaller individual stand-ups. Colors are fun, subject matter is over-the-top creative... you could even do those stars in metallic, and put beads in the witch's dress. Offered as the chart with packet of mini metal brads and rubber band embellishments!
Bittersweet Pumpkins from Just Another Button Company Just Another Button Company and Art to Heart have teamed up again to bring us 4 MORE cute quilt designs in Cross Stitch! Bittersweet Pumpkins features a pair of pretty spectacular pumpkins stitched in lots of gorgeous Autumnal shades of DMC, Weeks and Gentle Arts or Anchor flosses. They've garnished with a small smattering of buttons -- but if your stash has some cute ones that are 'homeless' -- add them! Stitched on Week's 30ct Parchment and finishing approx 8 x 9 ... you might want to look at Week's Straw or even Zweigart's Dirty Linen ... just a color that is a shade darker than that Parchment -- so the right pumpkin (which is stitched in GAST Peach Ice Cream) shows up better. It is WAY TOO CUTE to be lost against the background fabric, and I think it is now. Anyway, adapted from Art to Heart's quilt designs, this is a beautiful piece of needleart! Offered as the chart with button set.
Harvest and Halloween Delivery Plum Street Samplings has a pair of new releases... kind of celebrating the Mail System!
Witches Night Out from Blackberry Lane Designs Blackberry Lane has introduced a stunning sillouette of witches playing in their lairs... presumably in anticipation of Halloween! The main design features a big tree -- branches flowing everywhere and surrounding each of the design vinettes. It measures 136 x 465 stitches! (That's 9 x 29 on 32ct!!) Stitched entirely in black, as you can see, lots of different fabric colors look good with this. Every little section is enchanting -- there is so much going on in each. All of the smaller projects are take-outs from the main design -- Marie has re-charted bottom edges so they can stand alone. VERY imaginative... quite a stunning piece... this is offered as a chart.
Widow Black's B & B from Praiseworthy Stitches Praiseworthy Stitches annual huge haunted house has arrived!!! Widow Black has opened her very own Bed and Breakfast to *Guests.* Tasty Delights are served every afternoon in her private parlour... she thinks it is simply delightful that many of her guests have been tied up for the entire afternoon... and that many linger way past check-out time! Widow Black does remind guests that they may have to share their rooms with her long-time boarders... who love to watch for fresh arrivals! Stitched on 32ct Murky from Picture This Plus with 31 different hand-dyed or DMC flosses, you will need multiple skeins of 12 of the colors in here. There are Mill Hill beads scattered about, and a JABCO button pack with three gravestones, three bats, 4 spiders, two jack-o-lanterns and a little owl! There is so much going on in this piece -- it is CHARMING -- and makes the best companion to Croaking Toad Manor, Ravenmoon Hall, Buzzard's Roost Inn and Black Cat Manor. I don't know about you... but I think Pam and Susan are out-doing themselves every year! Offered as the chart, we have the fabric cut separately, as well as the clay button packs! (Fabrics for the previous 4 Haunted Houses are now here as well, if you are needing them!)
Halloween and Christmas are right around the corner -- according to these new releases! Classic Prairie Schooler style, I think my favorite is Trick or Treat! #188 Trick or Treat is so fun. Check out all the activity in that Halloween Evening scene! Ghosts flying from chimneys, little people scurrying everywhere, toadstools and spiders, it is just the cutest. I love that row of characters down in the lower front! #190 Happy Christmas features a sleepy village against the deep midnight black winter sky. Finishing only 5-1/2 x 7-1/2 on 18ct black aida, there are only 8 colors of DMC floss in here!!! The snowflakes look like stars in the sky and the dark windows tell you that everyone is fast asleep. You can hear the quiet... all except for Santa's sleigh bells up in the sky! #191 Nordic Holiday features 9 designs that are all the same size and use the same two colors of DMC floss -- 699 and 817. Simple and classic with a Nordic design inspiration, you could repeat and repeat these to make a cool table runner!
Croaking Toad Manor from Praiseworthy Stitches Praiseworthy Stitches has another annual haunted house, and this year's is just as busy and (charming?) SCARY as the rest!!! Presented as a chart with clay button set additional, this finishes quite large -- just like all it's companions. A whopping 15 x 20 on 32ct -- if you are CAREFUL (only 1-1/2 inches on the sides)... we can get this on a fat quarter(18 x 27) of Thunderstorm for you. (otherwise the 21 x 26 cut is $43.68!) The design is full of great details -- just so much to look at and enjoy. There is a toad in the pond with a witch hat... He's the culprit who's stirring up the landscape! Charted for DMCs or lots of Gentle Art and Weeks overdyeds. It also features a smidge of silver metallic and a few Mill Hill beads.
Quaker Gone Spooky from ByGone Stitches Well...... here's an unusual graveyard... the markers are all Quaker-inspired motifs! The design elements in here don't seem to go together -- those headstones are a surprise -- but the parts are stunning! The tree is stitched up and down in rows (NOT across!) with hand-dyed to get that incredible wilting movement. The wrought iron fence is gorgeous -- wouldn't that be incredible to have around your house??? (Well, if it is old, and you give out really *good* candy at Halloween. I wouldn't go through that gate just for those orange and black taffy things!) The little animals -- see that little mouse? -- and the owl with the *Attitude!*. The headstones are just awesome! Offered as a chart, the stitch count is 237 x 284. 15 x 18 On 32ct... dig out the perfect linen and some pretty overdyeds and you're set!
Halloween Jumble from The Drawn Thread! Drawn Thread has a new piece -- a companion design to Be My Valentine -- it's a series of MINIATURE blocks that include bitty Halloween motifs and letters to spell out 'Trick or Treat.' Really a very tiny thing -- 2-1/2 x 6-1/2 -- Cynthia has used a few Satin Stitches and a smattering of glass beads to embellish her squares a bit -- but each square measures ONLY AN INCH on 28/14 count and even smaller on the recommended 32ct Dirty Belfast. So cute, you can make some initial scissor fobs if your name has the right letters... you can stitch a set of small ornaments for a little tree branch... you could stitch these all in one horizontal row (1 x 21!) and hang it above a doorway... or you could stitch them all vertically (again 1 x 21!) and hang it on a skinny wall somewhere. You could even finish them into individual cubes to make a set of alphabet blocks! Offered as a chart. As you can tell from the pic -- rich rusty oranges, fun greens and purples and lots of black!
Spiders 'n Bones Treat Bag from The Drawn Thread! Here's a fun set of 8 x 8-ish treat bags that feature your stitching on both sides. Offered as two separate charts -- the skeletons are one, the witch is the other. The simple designs are stitched on 18ct Natural linen and measure approx 4 x 4 each. Cynthia has the charts placed on one piece of fabric, so as you construct your little bag the fabric is folded across the bottom. Cute designs, both are stitched in DMC with bits of hand-dyed floss from your stash. Our charts include the black or orange mini-buttons featured in the bats and witch dress. Super quick to stitch... what a fun way to use cute Halloween fabrics for finishing along with flourishes of cool ribbons! They would also be cute as hard-sided buckets -- either way -- cute centerpieces to hold that precious Halloween candy!
Halloween Quilt Sampler from Rosewood Manor Rosewood Manor has a new sampler that is full of Autumn color and Halloween attitude! All tucked inside her Blackwork border of acorns, you'll find 15 different quilt blocks worked with 8 different shades of Weeks overdyeds. Amber, Eggplant, Lancaster Red, Moss, Sweet Potato, Teal Frost (retired color!), Indian Summer and Swamp Water... pull them out of your stash... a gorgeous collection of color! Finishing approx 7 x 14 (not too big at all!), the leaflet comes with a stunningly REAL looking sterling spider charm that is featured on the Cobweb square of the sampler. If that little guy showed up live and in person on my wall, I'd be freaked out!!! Offered as a leaflet with Mr Scary Spider charm, this is a fun diversion from classic Halloween... into traditional quilt motifs!
Spider Moon from Just Nan Oh My Gosh... Nan always out-does herself with her Halloween pieces... and Spider Moon is no exception! *Beneath the spider moon * Ghosts drift out to play * Bones begin to dance * Monsters start to sway * Witches cackle tunes * Owls hoot and prey *... Night will end soon -- beneath the spider moon!* Now... look at the bands in this 15 x 6 sampler stitched with DMC floss on 32ct Stone Grey Belfast Linen. Check out that Spider Moon! (just like the clouds and veins you see sometimes!) The cats and bats. Then... the drifting ghosts. Next... the dancing bones! They're cute -- but probably upstaged by the swaying monsters! I love the witches -- they always wear purple -- a great fashion color for the season. The owls are SERIOUS... and the spooky graveyard tree against the moon is spectacular! (Check out the trunk -- could it be another swaying monster???) Finally, we are treated to Nan's handpainted Grim Reaper Charm perched atop one of the tombstones! If there isn't enough Halloween mischief happening in here for you -- it's another scary scenario for you! Offered as the leaflet with embellishments, this is stuffed FULL of Nan's Halloween Humor and Imagination. Just the best... and this is only one of several new Halloween designs!
Halloweenies from Plum Street Samplers Well... if this isn't the cutest picture for Halloween! A pair of festive dachunds dressed for The Season, do you think they are deciding who gets to use the fire hydrant first? Plum Street delivers this cute design -- stitch count of 157 x 65 that will look great on tons of different fabric choices. Worked with Gentle Art and Crescent Colours hand-dyed flosses, Paulette has kind of dedicated this pattern to her little Yorkie -- a most mischievous little beast! Offered as a chart -- reminds me of her Boris and Olga pair!
Halloween Ornaments from JBW Designs JBW has a new set of small Halloween designs -- 12 in all -- that finish into small 2-inch rounds. Stitched on Light Sand 32ct linen in either overdyeds or DMC's... the models are mounted onto fabric covered rounds, and trimmed with festive cords and ribbons. You can see orange stripes in the backgrounds -- that's not the fabric -- it's your stitching. Offered in a trio of 3 small cards, each with it's own embellishment pack of charms, beads and clay buttons... real cute!
Halloween (The Moon Laughs) from Barbara Ana This is a neat design -- and is offered in two different colorways. On lighter linen, choose solid or hand-dyed thread in just a black and gold for the moons and stars. The pic on the darker fabric features everything stitched in DMC flosses -- a combo of 12 classic halloween-y colors! Stitch count of 99 x 171 -- Barbara Ana gives you 'official permission' to pick a hand-dyed linen color of YOUR CHOICE!!! (and I support that!!!)
Trick or Treat from Barbara Ana Too Stinking Cute -- especially because it talks about stinky feet!!! 'Trick or Treat, smell my feet, give me something good to eat!' I know there is lots more to that verse... the girls were reciting it while we were pricing these charts. The kitty atop the boot is perfectly sweet, and how can you not fall in love with these colors! It calls for 5 solid DMC flosses and 6 more of DMC's Variations. Of course, you can pull overdyeds already in your stash... but the Variations might be tempting to try! Offered as a chart, 77 x 79 stitches.
Mr Baron Von Bat - The Needle Minder from Blackberry Lane Blackberry Lane's Marie Driskill is amazing! Check out this Over-The-Top scary and realistic stitched BAT!!!!! *Mr Von Bat takes his job seriously and tries to be intimidating with his fangs, but he's too cute of a fellow to take seriously. He has a baby bat button (JABCO's little black bat) as a bowtie with two dickeys made with (Week's) overdyed wool where he guards his needles well.* Stitched on 36ct linen, (fabric options vary for this) with DMC flosses (only 25 colors!) he measures 8 inches from wing-tip to tip and 3-1/2 inches high. He is stitched on BOTH sides -- so you see his back on the outside, and his tummy on the inside. You'll need to get a couple of those super-stong magnets to put inside his wing-tips to help then close. (A pair will do, but you might want more.) Offered as the chart, the instructions to assemble are all here. You'll need the bat bowtie button, those dinky magnets and bit of Weeks wool to finish. I have never seen such a cute needle case like this... the design is incredibly detailed, such a different and unique subject matter .. this little guy is a MUST HAVE!!!!!!!!! Models are a possibility for us in St Charles and Houston!!!
Halloween from Elizabeth's Designs Elizabeth's designs has a really cool design for Halloween -- very simple, actually! Halloween is spelled out in plain letters, but each letter is 'garnished' with a spider web, bat or crow. The row of pumpkins below is very organized and full of Sweet Potato and Tiger's Eye Weeks Dye Work's color... and that saw-tooth border is simply Satin Stitches of Tobacco Road! Stitched on Weeks 35ct Mocha Linen, the colors really caught my eye, the balance, and those charming spider webs that seem to cling to every nook and crook of those letters -- just like they stick in the nooks and crannies of my house!!! Offered as a leaflet, cute to add some crow or spider buttons, too!
The Halloween Branch -- Hooty Hoo Owl and Border from Bent Creek Bent Creek has a new 3-part design joining their series of 'Branch' designs... this one features a cute verse; 'When the owl and witch together are seen, There's mischief brewing on Halloween.' So far, we have that chubby little owl, some ghosts and crotchety-looking spiders! This first chart includes the chart for all you see, along with snap and button embellishments. The next two designs will come as small charts, with more snaps. (They usually run $7-ish.) Autumn Glory Humbug from Just Nan Just Nan's 4th Seasonal Humbug for 2010 is here! Rounding out her tiny set of 4 pin cushions, Autumn Glory is stitched on Light Sand Cashel Linen in DMC flosses. Sometimes described in the shop as *little pillowy-triangle-thingies* each little Humbug is covered with small stitched flowers and motifs and a tiny verse that is two threads high (!) that wraps around 'the bottom.' (But sometimes the bottom is on the top!) Nan describes Autumn Glory: '...richly colored autumn leaves, luscious grapes, acorns, sunflowers and 2 little crows stitched over 1. Apples in red gold and Granny Smith form the bottom border and 'Shine on harvest moon' is the repeating verse.' Nan's Charm Garden Harvest Moon pin is included and features glass and crystal beads in those yummy autumn hues. We have the other seasons available as well... this is a cute set of smalls! Includes chart, fabric and pin.
The Frankster from AB Designs *Witchypoo's Main Squeeze!* ab Designs has sent us the cutest little Frankenstein monster to stitch, and we have plenty of time to finish him before The Big Day!!! The 5 x 9 Frankster belongs to previously-published Witchypoo, and while she is stitched on Weeks Dye Works 30ct Peoria Purple, The Frankster is stitched on 30ct hand-dyed Banana Popsicle. He features right, fun Halloween-y colors, and some DMC Memory Thread on his pumpkin's smile! Actually, we think that Memory Thread is totally awesome, and it'd be fun on all the spider legs, too!!! Offered as the single chart, check out the trio of smaller matching pumpkins, with those same wired-thread smiles!!! Such a cute set of designs!
Great Pumpkin! from Threads That Bind Shawn Williams of Threads That Bind has 4 AWESOME new Punch Needle designs that are full of silly Halloween whimsy, and incredibily intense fall color. I chose Great Pumpkin to showcase here... because I love the fact that the moon silhouetting the house is really a big, fat pumpkin!!! Threads That Bind is undoubtedly the best Punch Needle designer out there... her stuff has such great color sense, none of it is too 'busy' or 'sloppy.' She uses good old fashioned DMC flosses in her designs -- so yours WILL turn out looking as good as the original, (you can actually find the thread at a shop!) and her designs all come clearly pre-stamped on HUGE pieces of antiqued Weaver's cloth. (Huge means like a 14 x 16 piece... so you can get it into a nice large hoop or stand.) Of all our shop models... hers are the ones that always draw the comments and inquiries! Make sure you see the other three!
Witches Brew and Owloween from Hinzeit Hinzeit has 7 new releases... colorful and so full of personality, here are two of my favorites! Witches Brew features 4 charms to embellish each of the ever-important ingredient jars -- a spider, bat, a very upset cat, and a scary skull and crossed bones! Talk about 'Mom's Favorite Recipes!!!' Might need this to hang in the kitchen around Halloween time! Owloween is very hard to spell, but easy to stitch for Halloween!!! Fun colors, that serious owl... his charm is a tiny Trick or Treat Bag. Both designs are offered as charts, with their embellishments, and finish approx 3-1/2 x 13.
Halloween Bits from Erica Michaels Erica Michaels has OUTDONE herself with a new set of miniature seasonal designs! Halloween Bits is the first of 6 40ct Silk Gauze designs that all fit into Olde Colonial's tiny 1-1/2 x 2 inch frames! Halloween, Christmas, Valentines and Hanukkah come to mind... her set is fantastic! Charted -- so they can be stitched on ANY size fabric... the cut of 40 ct is included with the chart, in case that's your favorite! Luscious overdyed colors from your stash are used -- and as you can imagine -- just little schnibbles of all! ... Watch for the rest of EM's designs in a week or so!
Vintage Halloween Stockings from Blackbird Designs Blackbird Designs will be releasing a little book of 13 Halloween Stockings -- to match their on-going series of mini monthly stockings!!! Blackbird Designs will be releasing a book of 13 Halloween Stockings -- to match their on-going series of mini monthly stockings!!! It has 36 pages and lots of color pictures for you to enjoy! In addition to the 13 stocking patterns, there are several other projects too. Stitched with Weeks, Gentle Art and Crescent overdyeds, I imagine we'll offer some thread sets, but details right now are sketchy, and I can't give you specifics about threads. 5 Of the little stockings are stitched on 30ct Cafe Kona, 5 on 18th Century Brown, and 3 on Witches Brew. We're offering the book, or book and linen cuts. Blackbird is one of the companies that doesn't reprint sold-out patterns, so we want to MAKE SURE you don't pass this one by before it's gone! We just love those little stockings... so we *can't wait* to see the new collection! Fabric Set ($57.50) includes 1/4 yd each of Cafe Kona and 18th Century Brown (enough for 6 stockings each) and 1/8 yard of the Witches Brew.
Spellbound! from Fern Ridge Fern Ridge has, once again, delivered us a charming sewing case with matching beaded scissor fob! The Witch's Case features a really cool metal spider web charm on it's front, Weeks Dye Works 30ct Carrot Linen, fuchsia silk linings and the most delightful colors of silks -- both solids and hand-dyeds! The witch is tempting stray Halloween spiders to join her brew! Inside, against the fuchsia silk, you have 4 pockets to store necessary needlework implements. Not tons of stitching, but there are a lot of beads on the edges. The spider on the back is glass!!! Offered as a complete kit of all the fabrics, silks, beads, linings and findings, there is even a color pic of the inside of the case, which is a real help. The Spellbound fob is peyote-stitch bead work. It's complete kit contains a huge wired spider that you bend a bit to attach to the fob (WAY TOO authentic for me!) and lots of black crystals and beads to adorn the fringe -- which you string apart like a web! Just the most imaginative thing!
Creepy Crawly from Blue Ribbon Designs'The stitching tools from my basket, are laid to rest in this tiny casket!' If this isn't the cutest little set of sewing pieces for Halloween... they are a hoot! Blue Ribbon has created such a fun little set of things... the (almost 5 x 7) casket to hold scissors and threads, a needlecase with a tombstone front, and the 'pushed-up daisies on the back, the black cat pin keep, and the bat scissor fob. When you open your casket, you'll find the 'preserved threads' and a stitched skeleton!!! WAY, WAY cute, this project took a lot of creativity, and it just brings a big smile to your face! I don't think you'll find another available on the market, quite like this! Offered as a chart, all the finishing instructions are included, stitching is done with overdyed flosses.
Bone Appetit from The Cricket Collection Well... *never* trust a skinny cook! Chefs 'Click' and 'Clack' are stirring up a big pot of haunting stew... that YOU are welcome to try! (I'm on a diet!) What a fun kitchen decoration to offer a lighthearted warning that this IS the haunting time of year... 'and one must beware of that which is simmering in the soup pot!' Stitched on 30ct hand-dyed, it uses regular DMC flosses, finishes approx 9 x 9, and has a couple of little blackbird embellishments. Offered as a chart, Vicki has also included a really cool strawberry pin cushion design in here... that is only pictured in the top little preview area of the pattern cover! It finishes approx 2-1/2-ish inches around, and is stitched in a medley of awesome fall colors. Full of little maple leaf motifs, she includes the finishing templates and instructions for the emery-filled berry and wool topping. Both designs in this pack are dynamite... you'll want to stitch them ASAP! For Bone Appetit, Weeks hand-dyeds Straw, Kudzu, Scuppernong or Guacamole would be great color choices of fabric, for the berry... you might want a darker -- Onyx, Gunmetal, Aztec Red, Chestnut or Havana, as the topper is Chestnut Herringbone (but I like Houndstooth better!)
Four New Halloween Designs from Cross-Eyed CricketWell, it isn't very often I get a call from the shop saying basically "lookee here!" But I did yesterday when these came in! So, here are the four new designs from Cross-Eyed Cricket. Again, you have to put up with my descriptions until Lindy is back, but I think you'll have more than enough to decide that this is a very cool set of Halloween designs that you *must* have for your stash. Based on the legendary poem, Sleepy Hollow is shown stitched on 3 panels, totaling about 15 inches wide! If ornaments are your thing, Ghosties & Ghoulies and Things That Go Bump in the Night will fill the bill. Ghosties & Ghoulies even comes with basic finishing instructions. The Eyes Have It gives you three separate designs, including one for a matching jar label and lid. How about using some of the DMC Effects threads for some of these -- one even glows in the dark!
Autumn Snapperland!from Bent Creek 'Autumn is a second Spring, when every leaf is a flower.' Bent Creek's final celebration of the Four Seasons -- in Snapper Card Designs! Presented in 4 small individual designs, Harvest Time is the first, with the barnyard and scarecrow outside. Autumn Walk is the second... the trees wander and follow the hikers a bit. Pumpkin Hunt and Turkey Farm finished it up!!! Each square design is a small 'Snapper' card, that includes a snap as its embellishment. Tying all these small squares together is the complimentary border chart and embellishment package... just like we have been treated to for Winter, Spring and Summer Snapperlands!!! A really cool series... we just finished an auto-ship for the rest of the cards in this set.
Moonlight and 11:58 PM from Fern Ridge This stitched and beaded needlecase and scissor fob set is over-the-top with Halloween personality!!! You'll see from our pics, that each has so many fun little details in the beads and stitching, I don't know where to begin my description! Designed by Fern Ridge, these are offered as complete kits that contain all the necessary beads, threads, findings, charms, fabrics, needles, lining fabrics and linen, beading threads... just everything... except you! The needlecase features a beaded edge, a sterling spider and skeleton charm, is stitched on 28ct Silvery Moon Cashel Linen in silks, silks and more silks, and overdyeds flosses -- all of which are included in the kit. With special stitches and finishing instructions, the verse -- in a crooked alphabet font -- reads, "Moonlight and it's 11:58pm. Don't just stand there! Come on in. Our Stitch-in is about to begin. The linen we use is a spider's web. Our threads are the hanging moss. The needles we use will delight and amuse. So, come on in. There's no time to lose. It's 11:59 pm and the stitch-in is about to begin!" Lots of black, greys, bronze and brown... this is CHARMING! Finishes approx 4 x 4 when closed, and because of all the cool beading around the edges, this feels heavy in your hand. The RIP fob is stitched in Peyote Stitch. It's trim features a sterling skull charm, hematite stars and amber beaded accents...all the beads have a frosted matte finish... and make this look old and weathered! So creative and unusual, this is such fun!
Ghastly, Ghostly Ghouls! from Just Nan I'm thinking this is a delightful seasonal companion piece to Nan's High Hopes design! GGG is a delightful design that finishes approx 4-1/2 x 4-1/2 on 28ct Cobblestone Cashel Linen, and features the one-inch miniature pewter coffin charm which actually opens to reveal the dead skeleton inside!!! (Dead skeleton, I guess, is redundant, isn't it?) Absolutely over-the-top with rich reds, oranges, rusts, chartreuse, and purples, the spooky Halloween garden is filled with spiders, ghosts, cats and toads... quite different than the spring garden of High Hopes!!! Available as the leaflet with the coffin charm, this is absolutely charming... and you need it! Silks or DMCs are called for... whichever you wish! |

All Hallow's Night from Birds of a Feather This year's totally, awesomely scary pumpkin faces join our other two Halloween favorites by Birds of A Feather! The same flavor as Scared Silly and Fat Cat, All Hallow's Night is stitched on the very distressed hand-dyed linen of 32ct Sparrow, dyed by 'Birds.' Great, bright overdyed colors of Weeks Dye Works flosses, I don't know what about these draws people -- you either love them, or can't stand them!!! (I hope you're of the former!!!) Anyway, available as a single chart, we do carry the fabric -- which is just one of the most wonderful shades of hand-dyed linen available -- and COLORFAST!!! |
|
