We at The Silver Needle have a special place in our hearts for "Erica Michaels!" Linda worked for us for a few years before she moved away. We're constantly in touch... so it feels like she's right in our backyard, instead of a few states away! These designs are full of fun threads and embellishments... Enjoy all of them!

New March Arrivals from Erica Michaels Designs
Linda has 7 new designs.... here are three, make sure to click through the pics to see the rest!
  • Moms - They make all the difference! A set of three smalls, you get the primary sampler (71 x 93), a berry and whimsical small (69 x 41) cushion. Stitched in three shades of red - you can choose any other scheme you want... or just one shade of any hand-dyed. Linda promises the DAD is coming soon.
  • The Berry Patch - Raspberries, blueberries and blackberries, three sweet berries with a French twist. Stitched on 36ct linen with Weeks hand-dyed flosses and trimmed with Weeks wools and Lady Dot trims. Charming little pin cushions as always! All three are in this chart.
  • A Cheerful Heart - Inspired by an entry in Linda's Great Grandmother's autograph book, and motifs from an antique pattern booklet, this mono chromatic set includes three pieces - a mini sampler, berry and needlebook. Set the pieces in a pretty wooden bowl - that dark background really sets off the pretty stitching. Presented as a chart.

Bloom Wildly from Erica Michaels - click for more Emma Badman Wadford Sampler from Erica Michaels - click for more Favoured Feline from Erica Michaels - click for more Louisa Denman from Erica Michaels - click for more
Bloom Wildly, Emma Badman Wadford, Favoured Feline, Louisa Denman
  • Bloom Wildly - Full of colorful and happy blooms, Linda has included some matching hand-dyed button embellishments in the berry and cushion chart.
  • Emma Badman Wadford Sampler - This is absolutely lovely. The verse on top is really nice, but really Ok if you leave it off and just do the glorious bottom area. It is very old and elegant in flavor - the original was stitched in 1854 - and would make a gorgeous sampler just by itself, so Linda has included charting for that option. It does feature an unusual alphabet placement - it's the border!
  • Favoured Feline - Based on a silk gauze antique embroidery that Linda ownes, this plump, pamapered cat is adapted for linen and finished as a drum, although easily framed up or finished as you like. Chart.
  • Louisa Denman - A marking sampler reproduction featuring an optional verse, the original used a soothing color palette with interesting dividing bands. Chart.

Christmas Countdown from Erica Michaels - click for more Quiting A-Bee-Cs part 5 from Erica Michaels - click for more
The November Releases from Erica Michaels Designs are due in the shop mid-November.
  • Christmas Countdown - Linda says to count the days till Christmas with this design that can be stitched three ways. Create the calendar, a December pin-drum, and finishing with a matching berry pin cushion. Fresh and bright colors, it looks like an easy stitch.
  • Quilting A-Bee-Cs is finally finishing with this part 5 to the design. Just a fantastic collection of smaller designs, Linda has arranged colorful quilt blocks and inspirational thoughts into the patchwork piece. In each of the 5 charts, she has assembled/finished three or four different projects, so you are getting a super-creative collection of different smalls. We're kind of sad that this project is finished... but thrilled to finally be able to offer the complete set of charts! Complete set is shown right below!

Announcing Quiting A-Bee-Cs
This is a charming 5-part sampler covering alphabets and quilt motifs. Lots of options for smalls to take out of the larger design, Linda is releasing this is 5 parts - one chart a month - March 2023 to November 2023.

Worked with Classic Colorworks hand-dyed flosses, it measures 263 x 223 - so will finish approx 14-1/2 x 12-1/2 on 36ct. Each square is 39 x 39, but each tiny quilt motif in it is just 24 stitches! Itty bitty! Linda promises indvidual finishes for pin pillows, spool bands, cubes, ornaments... all sorts of fun stuff. (I can see a drum with tiny quilt motifs all around.) Although there is a floss list, she also suggests that if you clean out your hand-dyed stash and use different dye lots of threads - it kind of mimics an old quilt - which is pretty cool and definitely OK!

Thread list: 1 each of Black Coffee, Blackbird, Dublin Bay, Hazelnut, Holly Berry, Little Sprout, Magnolia Blossom, Mistletoe, Old Blue Jeans, Queen Bee, Tea and Bisquits, 2 of Trail Dust, 3 of Wavy Navy and Wild Berries.
Our Auto-ship will end with Chart 5. Let us know fabric count and color choice (she uses a vanilla/cream/hand-dyed) and add any threads you need... we can ship those with your first chart.

Come Back at Midnight from Erica Michaels - click for more Hark! The Bells from Erica Michaels - click for more Letting Go from Erica Michaels - click for more
New Arrivals from Erica Michaels - Due into the shop September 22nd!
Linda has some cute seasonal things...
  • Come Back at Midnight - This is a fun play on the alphabet with lots of spooky bits appearing in that little graveyard. She's finished the piece into a little pinch-corner tray - so I guess it really COULD BE your needle, threader, and scissor graveyard! The companion pin cushion strawberry spells Halloween to coordinate. Mostly black DMC, dress it up with some colorful buttons from your stash if you want!
  • Hark! The Bells - This features a classic holiday color palette with a verse from a vintage Christmas card. Berry sports border bands that run vertically on the finished piece. Chart comes with some hand-dyed button embellishments.
  • Letting Go - Another smaller 4 x 5 design with coordinating berry - sporting those vertical bands, this chart includes a few hand-dyed buttons and a small charm (which I cannot find in the pic, but I'm sure its there!)

The Beach is Calling from Erica Michaels - click for more The Embroidress from Erica Michaels - click for more Heirloom Tomato from Erica Michaels - click for more Quaker Wisdom Berries from Erica Michaels - click for more Special Notice from Erica Michaels - click for more
Several charming designs from Erica Michaels
We're getting more berries, another crossword puzzle and FUN alphabet/quilt sampler series!
  • The Beach is Calling - This is just like Reindeer Games and Liberty Games - a really fun crossword-styled piece - along with a cute drum cushion! I love reading the words in this - Trolley, taffy, crabshack and boardwalk... I just want to be THERE! Cute motifs of that boardwalk, those crabs and lobsters, the lighthoue and trolley... straight out of a summer vacation... it's more about the little seaside community than the scratchy sand! Stitched with hand-dyeds, the main piece finishes 10 x 8 on 32ct.
  • The Embroidress - A darling pin cushion all of us need! What a fun thing to stitch as a group and finish together... everyone in your group would have to have a different color so you don't mix up needles and pins!
  • Heirloom Tomato - Prosperity and good fortune... do tomatoes bring you that? Regardless, I love this one! Pretty colors, you even have a tomato-berry-cushion out of it! The chartpack includes some buttons and a brass charm - which we cannot see in the pic. Lady Dot trims and Weeks wools are used in the finishing.
  • Quaker Wisdom Berries - A set of three cushions, each features a bit of wisdom spelled among the Quaker-inspired motifs. Stitched with Weeks flosses, Weeks wools featured on their tops.
  • Special Notice - Linda has lots of antique needlework and sewing goods. She read off the back of something while she was here last summer - I think it was the backside of the sales slip from the original purchase. THIS was the advice 100 years ago!
Special Notice: The attention of clerks is directed to the importance of suggesting to customers that before beginning a piece of work, a fully sufficient amount of silk be procured, as afterwards difficulty may be experienced in obtaining exactly the same shade. She read it in class... and didn't we all smile! Anyway, Stitch this for a sewing case, bag, frame it for your stitching area... we might stitch it as a shop model to hang behind our counter! Monochromatic - so pick any color you like! This pattern is a fundraiser for Linda's local animal shelter in TN!

Forever Thine from Erica Michaels - click for more
Forever Thine,
Forever Thine is Linda's newest Valentine's inspired design. She has a family stash of letters and diarys from the turn of the century, and she found an old Valentine with a hand-written note on the back that reads 'Dear Miss Krauss, may I have your company for next Wed eve?'

*A heart that is forever is thine* - her design is stitched with Weeks hand-dyed flosses, and garnished with a clay love letter button and a brass heart - both included in the chart pack. You'll need the Weeks Garnet and Collards hand-dyed wool schnigglet 8 x 8 cuts we have to garnish your pin cushion and berry top. Both charts are included in the pack.

All Hallow's Eve from Erica Michaels - click for more Abundant Table from Erica Michaels - click for more Christmas Blessings from Erica Michaels - click for more 3 Wise Women from Erica Michaels - click for more
So Many New Arrivals!
  • All Hallow's Eve - This is so much fun! Stitch the crossword puzzle full of scary and spooky names - lots of fun Halloween motifs are scattered everywhere around it! Choose a darker mangy colored fabric - we have several colors and counts to choose from for this but on 32ct, it measures a mere 7 x 9-ish! (It looks bigger in the picture.) Then... there are those darling little pin drum and berry cushions... Linda has taken the motifs from the puzzle and re-arranged them - so same ingredients, different recipe!
  • Abundant Table - This is an adaptation of an English sampler stitched in 1764. An Armenian table grace prayer, Linda has re-charted this gorgeous piece adding Satin Stitches and 'over one' in the massive and elegant border. She chose Autumn/Harvest colors... but you will see the original colors from the antique inside the chart. Coded for silks or DMC, this needs to be hung in a place of honor in the kitchen or dining room. It measures 209 x 206 - so about 11-1/2 inches square on 36ct. Just GORGEOUS!
  • Christmas Blessings -- This is a combo pattern... the original published design is the small sampler in the lower left corner -- published in 2013 -- stitched on 40ct gauze. Linda has re-worked it for larger count linen - and presents another one on 32ct. You get both charts in the packet - and you can stitch either of them on any count you want - so you don't have to make any snap decisions right now!
  • 3 Wise Women - 'brought nappies, formula and casseroles... then stayed for babysitting, tea and laundry.' I just love this! It needs to hang anywhere babies appear! (Wouldn't it be neat in the Dr's waiting room?) Stitched in just one hand-dyed color, choose any fabric you like - this is a bitty thing, and will finish just 4-1/2 x 6 on 36ct!

  • Stitch All The Things - Just a reminder of how fortunate we are to have so much FUN STUFF to stitch! Linda has decorated this with antique buttons (you probably have some favorite buttons in your stash) and trimmed both pieces with Lady Dot's Vintage Ruler Twill Tape. The chart comes with some hand-dyed buttons by Just Another Button Company.
  • English Sampler Berries - More strawberry cushions - these feature bands taken from English samplers. All three designs are included in the chart... you can use any neutral linen... and mix and match the wool bits on the toppers when you finish them.
  • Liberty Games - This is a fun piece... a 7-1/2 x 11 patriotic crossword puzzle! Just like Reindeer Games, Linda has nestled words together and inter-mingled all sorts of tiny motifs in the quirky leftover spaces. She has included 2 smaller designs in here - one for a berry cushion and another is a drum stand-up. Stitched with a mixture of Weeks and DMC flosses, 36ct Vellum is the featured fabric in the model pic.
  • Chocolate or Coffee? Duh, BOTH! Kind of hard to tell in the picture, but there are 4 designs in this pack... two berries, 2 squares. They are all stitched with just Weeks Chestnut and Tatanka hand-dyed floss and trimmed with Weeks wool and Lady Dot trims.

  • Bristol Berries II - A second set of berry-shaped pin cushions stitched on anything you want, using one shade of any hand-dyed red (or another color you like better!) thread you like best! The back cover shows the long needle or sewing roll case finishing - the main piece measures 2-1/2 x 16. • Summertime Berries - These three berry cushions all feature either something fun summertime pastimes. One has a camper, another has flip-flops and a little tropical drink. Not real involved, so they are finish-able, and they'd make fun additions to a bowl of summer pin cushions! Linda has great finishing ideas on her website for these berries - you can add all sorts of charms and buttons to them, a little trimming goes a long way with these!

Ocean of Wisdom II from Erica Michaels - click for more Twinkle Berry from Erica Michaels - click for more Charlotte's Smalls from Erica Michaels - click for more
Three New Releases
  • Ocean of Wisdom II - Linda offers both a silk gauze main design in here - as well as 5 smaller take-out designs stitched on linen and finished into pin cushions! The main design - the medley of all 5 can be done on anything you want - but stitched 35ct gauze, if you can find it... it finishes a delightful 3-1/2 inches square. Notice the 5 sections? Each of those are stitched on 36ct linen and then finished with all sorts of decorative trims and embellishments to make another really cute bowl-filling presentation. Everything is coded for Weeks hand-dyed flosses or DMC; it's a beautiful set of patterns!
  • Twinkle Berry - Here's another charming berry-shaped pin cushion featuring a star quilt motif. Stitched on natural colored linen, the white color is Week's Snowflake, so choose a fabric that will highlight that pale shade. This pattern also lends itself to a little square cushion as well - so that charted option is included as well.
  • Charlotte's Smalls - These are small take-out designs from Linda's reproduction of Charlotte Mullenger's antique sampler. The cushions are all stitched on anything you like - they are elegant - so Linda has them stitched in either silk or cotton hand-dyeds. Each one is pretty, but somehow, together, they make a stunning set of coordinating - but totally different from each other - little pieces! All the charts are included in the pack.

Hannah's Garden from Erica Michaels - click for more Constant Companion from Erica Michaels - click for more Charlotte's Berries from Erica Michaels - click for more My Heart Beats True from Erica Michaels - click for more
New Releases from Erica Michaels
  • Hannah's Garden - 'Weeds are flowers too, once you get to know them!' Harvest Hannah was one of Linda's first cross stitch designs - she was a leaflet, and made a 6-inch stand-up figure. THIS chart is a re-into of Hannah... you get both the original design in here, as well as the cute little 5 x 7 cushion design. Linda drew Hannah on a 4 x 6 piece of canvas that she displayed at that Market 20 years ago... and then gave it to The Silver Needle to 'store' for her! Ms Hannah still hangs on our walls!
  • Constant Companion - This is a fun pattern - two different verses and ways to stitch this in this chartpack. The linen piece mimics the original antique by using wool treads for the border, but cotton for the verse. The little silk gauze version - which could ALSO be stitched on linen reads: 'No one can look upon the needle without emotion, it is a constant companion throughout the pilgrimage of life' Linda has manipulated the colors on the backgrounds, but the border is exactly the same. Study this pattern a little when you get it to decide how you want to stitch yours.
  • Charlotte's Berries - A trio of linen berries with motifs taken from antique samplers.
  • My Heart Beats True - Stitch this on the tiny gauge silk gauze included in the package (35 or 40ct) or use a larger linen... using Classic Colorworks and Weeks hand-dyed flosses. 2 x 2 or 4 x 5 - depends on your eyes! Sentiment and colors are the same either way, so enjoy!

Charity for All from Erica Michaels - click for more Walk on the Beach from Erica Michaels - click for more Walk on the Beach and Charity for All
The newest Erica Michaels releases are here.
  • Walk on the Beach is a Petite piece - it can be stitched on anything you want, but the chart does include a cut of 40ct silk gauze. If that gauze doesn't soothe your soul... and you have no beach any where near... your dog will welcome that walk! Finishing under 2 x 4 inches!
  • Charity for All is taken from Lincoln's 2nd inaugural address... and first published by EM in 2008. Presented as a chart - stitched on 36ct, it finishes approx 12 x 11, so will be larger if you choose a larger count material.

Chuck-Ful of Christmas from Erica Michaels - click for more Chrismoose Berries from Erica Michaels - click for more New 2019 Christmas Arrivals
  • Chrismoose Berries - Stitch these little guys on 32ct linen or 40ct silk gauze - you'll recognize these as new additions to the Erica Michaels collection of stitched berry ornaments and pin cushions. The Linen version is worked on the polka dot Belfast 32ct - you can see the white dots in the model pic. The silk gauze version is different, and has a LOT more stitching on it... because you have more stitches on 40ct than 32! Both patterns are presented as charts, and can be stitched on whatever fabric you wish... but note that the silk gauze version does include a cut of the specialty 40ct gauze.
  • Chuck-Ful of Christmas - 'Though your stocking's of silk, cotton or wool, I hope this Christmas finds it Chuck-full!!!' Linda has a collection of vintage Christmas Cards... and this verse came from one of them! The old card's verse continued with 'Yes, full, and heaped over with gifts bright and new, and my very best wishes I tuck in for you.' Stitch this in the larger sampler - finishes 4-1.2 x 10, or maybe do that stocking-shaped ornament on 40ct gauze, and make it 2 x 4! I especially like that small bottom section of the reindeer, package, cardinal and fa la la... that would make a pretty little pin cushion!

Mistletoe Kisses from Erica Michaels - click for more The St Nick Berry duo from Erica Michaels - click for more Erica Michaels Suggests that Christmas is Coming!
  • The St Nick Berry duo has arrived! Two different charts - that look the same at first glance - stitch into two entirely different little berry-shaped cushions. The LINEN version is meant to be stitched on 32ct, with Weeks Dye Works hand-dyed flosses, and will finish about 3 x 4. The SILK version is meant to be stitched on the little cut of 40ct gauze included in that package. Even though these LOOK so similar, the threads on the 40ct silk option are Gentle Art's hand-dyed cottons and completely different colors!!! These are just charming... they make beautiful tree ornaments, curious pin cushions, and gorgeous little scissor fobs. (And you know, you can always go out on a limb and stitch the linen version on gauze, and the gauze version on linen! The Cross Stitch Police will not come, but thankfully, Santa still will!)
  • Candy Cane Wishes and Mistletoe Kisses You get both berries in here, as well as the squared version to make all three cushions! Happy Christmas greetings, everything is stitched on Weeks 40ct Straw Linen with just Collards, Baked Apple and Linen colors of Weeks flosses. Cute as can be!
The Beatitudes from Erica Michaels - click for more
The Beatitudes
This has been presented in a 3-chart set - and all three parts are now here. The cover model is shown stitched on 40ct silk gauze - so basically 40ct over one. The entire piece measures 229 x 212 - so about 14 inches square on 32ct linen.

Stitch each panel individually and finish them in a number of different ways, or make this entire piece - which is stunning! Lots of options with this one.

Defining Summer from Erica Michaels - click for more Defining Summer from Erica Michaels - click for more Defining Autumn from Erica Michaels - click for more Defining Autumn from Erica Michaels - click for more
Defining Summer & Autumn Two more seasons, Linda 'defines' the season with all sorts of words to remind. She has a fun mono-chromatic background on these, and those bright colorblock letters to spell the season.

Besides the framed options, she has used those blocks to make long, skinny pin cushions as well!

Fall for Autumn from Erica Michaels - click for more
Fall for Autumn
This is a cheerful little piece! Don't the leaves blowing against the swirly background look like they're going to fly right off the design? A cut of 40ct silk gauze is included in this pack, and will make the finished piece just 2-1/2 x 3.

If you work it on linen, Linda suggests a light neutral to keep the tonal contrast of the background. Time to get out all the yummy fall colors of your threads!!!

  • My Refuge - From Psalm 91, *He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall take refuge.* Finishing only 2 x 3-1/2 on the silk, this turns out 10-1/2 x 6 on 14/28ct! Coded for Belle Soie Silks of Beach Grass, Enchanted Forest, Oatmeal Scone and Vanilla Pudding - Linda has DMC conversions as well.
  • All Through The Night - This one has the neatest background! Can you see the moon-face and swirls in there? Super subtle, the smaller version is the silk gauze piece - it finishes only 2-1/2 x 4. The larger piece - the complete poem is worked on 36ct over two and it finishes approx 9-1/2 x almost 14 on 32ct! Pretty blues and cremes of silk or cotton - everything is listed inside the chart.

Erica Michaels is Adding Berries to her Stitched Collection
Linda has 4 new pin cushion designs - the cutest little berry shapes - stitch them teeny-weeny small on 40ct or larger on larger counts... you have choices! All are worked with hand-dyed flosses... the LINEN berries are featured on linen fabric, the SILK berries are featured on 40ct silk gauze... but you can do them on whatever you like better. This entire collection is just enchanting, and all are presented in chart format.
  • The Needle Berry features a cute little sewing bird, a tape measure and tomato pin cushion motifs. The silk gauze version is actually larger in stitch count than the linen version, so the finished sizes can get confusing on these!
  • Sunshine Berry's Linen version has just the big flower, while the gauze version - because it has a higher stitch count (because you are on smaller fabric) has room for the *You Are My Sunshine* verse.

Caroling Berries
Linda has completed her set of pin cushion designs - 8 berries with 8 rectangular versions! OK... lots of details here. Themed for Christmas Carols, there are 8 charts released from July to November of 2018.

Each chart contains a Carol Berry design to FINISH as a berry, AND a squared-off version of that design for a rectangular cushion in case you don't want to do the berry shape. Choose any fabric you like - this entire series will be monochromatic - so you can see in the pic that choosing a pretty hand-dyed thread is perfect for these.

Adeste Fideles (O Come All Ye Faithful) and O Tannenbaum are available now. Future Carol Berries will be: Angels We Have Heard on High, Deck the Halls, Silent Night, Jingle Bells, We Three Kings and Joy to the World. (We have lots of coordinating Weeks threads and Lady Dot trims; Linda mentions that a fat quarter of fabric will be fine to stitch all of your berries or rectangles. Maybe get the first two charts and THEN decide on your fabric/thread/bead/wool/trim colors. Super classy little things!!!

Introducing... Very Berry!

Linda Stolz of Erica Michaels has designed an EXQUISITE wool strawberry... stitched on 30ct silk gauze!!! Designed to be a scissor fob or tiny pin cushion this little 2-1/2 x 1-3/4 confection is *way too pretty* to eat... and I'd never stick pins in mine!!! Here are all the details!

Stitched in Continental Stitch (just the first half of a Cross Stitch), your berry calls for 5 different shades of Gentle Art's hand-dyed Simply Wool -- you'll be stitching with one ply of thread. The stitched berries that wrap around the piece are little checkerboards of Mulberry and Buckeye Scarlet, the blossoms have hints of golden Brandy in them, and the leaves are a deep Blue Spruce, all against a Roasted Marshmallow background! A miniature strawberry patch on your Very Berry! Next, the berry top features matching Weeks Dye Works hand-dyed wool leaves!!!

Very Berry from Erica Michaels - click for moreVery Berry from Erica Michaels - click for more Charted for regular stitching, you could do this on linen... but our exclusive kit contains 30ct silk gauze instead! (Bigger holes than linen -- NO KIDDING!) When you are finished with the stitching, the long side is joined into a cone-shape, and the top is drawn/gathered together, with tiny wool leaves attached to the top! Just darling!!!

Offered as the complete kit, we have included the chart, gauze, 8 complete skeins of Gentle Art's Simply Wool, Weeks Dye Works wool, and your needle. Complete assembly instructions are included, along with stitching tips for the gauze! I'm holding the precious little berry in my hands in some of our pics... you can see how petite it is, and how very special and unique! *Thank You, Linda* for designing something so awesome... just for The Silver Needle!

The smaller versions (approx 1 x 2) in the pics are the silk (40ct) options, the larger (approx 3 x 4) are the linen pieces. Designs for each ARE DIFFERENT... study the pics a little, you can see that. *Silk* berry charts come with cut of 40ct silk gauze; *Linen* berries do not include linen.

Erica Michaels continues her set of stitched berry cushions and ornaments. We have a trunk show in the shop till January that has ALL 40 BERRIES IN HER COLLECTION all stitched and in one place. Oh My Gosh... they are such a delight to see! Actually the same finishing concepts as Just Nan's mice, these are stitched flat and then you roll them. Picture a waffle cookie ice cream cone -- same shape, same assembly!

Linda's berries come in either silk gauze or linen options. Even though each theme companions -- every berry is totally different from the other 39. Linen versions are chart only. Silk versions include a cut of 40ct silk gauze.
  • Jingle Berry SILK finishes less than 1-1/2 inches. Snowflakes against that red background, an enchanting ornament size. The Snow Chenille trim along the top is the 'fur' on Santa's hat, it features Weeks Collards Houndstooth hand-dyed wool and a peppermint JABCO button as well. Stitched with hand-dyed flosses.
  • Jingle Berry LINEN finishes closer to 4 inches in size. A few thousand less stitches than the silk version, this is done on Weeks Garnet Linen. Linda has turned it on its top, and made a tiny Santa hat out of it as another finishing option. THE SAME design is finished like the other berries -- shown right beside it -- can you believe those are the same design?

Same 32ct linen, the design is charming all around -- a little mermaid, sand castle and sunshine, pelicans crabs, waves and a little fish. Linda has photos in here of her finishing, and an EXCELLENT picture of the top of this berry. You embroider a sand dollar on there!

Finally, there is a Mermaid pocket watch locket! PRECIOUS! It is stitched on the included 40ct silk gauze, and fits into a 1-1/2 inch pocket watch frame. Absolutely the cutest thing EVER! Package includes charts for all three projects, finishing pics and instructions for all three and silk for the locket. Locket Frame, Polka Dot and solid Linen, Deep Sea and Snow Cream wool schnigglets, and set of seaside JABCO pins are available separately. This is a reproduction piece finishing approx 12-1/2 inches square on 40ct linen. The original is clearly pictured on the back of the chart, so you can get an idea of what it looks like today. Mostly golds and grays... Linda has chosen lots of 'peach' color for hers... so I imagine that was the original coloring. (I can't get past that peach... so think brick red or dusty teals???) She talks a lot inside the chart about the poor condition this is in... glued to a sticky board and everything!!!

Anyway, there is a queen Stitch border in here... it is truly lovely! Watch for a companion set of stitching smalls to come out next year -- Linda is taking lots of smaller motifs from this to make cushions, cases and even a berry (I Hope!)

Anyway, your LINEN Yikesberry measures approx 2-1/2 inches wide and 4 inches long, features a stacked button stem and a bit of black felt for it's leaves. The GAUZE Yikesberry is only 1-1/2 inches wide and 2 inches long -- a miniature version of the larger. Each of the two charts are slightly different -- can you see the design differences in my pics? • Always Thankful is worked on Weeks 40ct Straw (we have that in 30 and 35ct as well) and finishes approx 5 x 6. Charted for either DMC or hand-dyeds of Acorn, Havana, Juniper and Twilight.
  • Good Every Day is finished as a sewing case -- but you could frame this version as well. Stitched on 32ct Waterlily linen, it finishes approx 9-1/2 x 4 and is worked with Garden Gate, Grape Leaf, Old Blue Paint, Artichoke, Aztec Red, Daylily, Red Rocks, Seaweed, Spanish Moss and Sunset -- actually quite a few colors! The chart includes instructions for the case as well as the interior picture for a finishing aide.
  • Random Threads is STUNNING!!!!! It is Linda's original little stitching miniature re-done as a pin cushion. Stitched on a cream 40ct, it'll finish approx 5 x 5, on 28ct it'd be about 6-1/2 inches square. (just choose fabric you like!) This one is done in two colors of hand-dyed red (Cherry Wine and Merlot) -- easy to change to blues or greens or anything you'd rather use. Next, add that charming set of Just Another Button Company Pins -- they're so darn cute on there! Spools, hearts and a nifty black and white herringbone... every pin cushion deserves special pins!

Erica Michaels Petites -- Miniatures for Silk Gauze (And any other fabric you want!)
Linda Stolz has 5 new Petites designs that she is presenting in chart format, some with small cuts of 40ct silk gauze. (But like her new Classics -- you CAN stitch these on larger counts!) Always precious tiny heirlooms... here is the new line-up!
  • Ocean of Wisdom -- Fun 'watery' verses! *Take time to coast * Don't be crabby! * Sea the Beauty * Make Waves* Stitched on 28ct linen, it'll be 6-1/2 x 8-1/2. Linda finished this using a few scrap-booking goodies... just for a different touch.
  • Thick and Thin -- Faith, Family and Friends -- through thick and thin. Presented as the chart with a bitty 40ct silk gauze cut provided, this finishes LESS than 2 inches square! You won't need much of your Black Raspberry Jam, Chives and Parchment flosses!!! Retiring!
  • Thanks to the Brave -- We are the Home of the Free. Along with the 40ct gauze in here, Linda has a bonus chart for a larger version on this on 28ct linen. Charted for DMC and hand-dyeds, you'll finish with either a 2 x 2 or a 6 x 6! Portion of proceeds from this chart go to TADSAW which helps soldiers and veterans and their rescue dog partners.
  • 1776 -- Sweet Land of Liberty -- this is another patriotic design with some proceeds going to TADSAW. On the included 40ct, it will finish a mere 2 x 1-1/3 inches! The hand-dyeds featured are Cornsilk, Merlot, Michael's Navy, Putty, Tiger's Eye and Turkish Red. Actually, this would be pretty on 18ct linen over two -- it'd make a 9-1/2 x 6 design that would finish into a nice pillow.

More of Linda's elegant petite silk designs... these are definitely tiny works of needleart to be treasured for years to come! All are offered as charts with cut of 40ct silk gauze included. • Winter Messenger -- A light background on this one -- it'll show up well against the green of your Christmas tree, if you showcase it as an ornament.

*I will honor Christmas in my heart and try to keep it all year*
Erica Michaels has a new sampler that is LOVELY! Work it on 28ct linen -- or any count you like best -- it finishes approx 6-1/2 x 14-1/2. Linda's piece has three separate areas -- can your eye capture them? Ebenezer's famous promise at the top, the horse pulling a sleigh in the center, and the holiday couple with God Bless Us Everyone at the bottom.

When you open your chart, you'll find each of those three parts stitched individually and finished differently. LOTS of different options with this piece! Tiny framed samplers, pillows, she has even found a 'Memory Tray' at Hobby Lobby and filled in the different sections with the needlework and matching decorations. Each of the projects is coded for flosses or silks, all in deep, classic red and greens... this has such a pretty, classic flavor! Offered as the chart.

Christ's cross be my speed, in all virtue to proceed. A pretty bookmark to use in a very special book... Linda has included the cut of gold grosgrain ribbon to finish your piece just like the marker in the pic. I love the alphabet... she's spelled out 'Double U!'

Offered as a chart with cut of 40ct gauze and the ribbon, the stitched area is approx 1-1/4 x 6-1/4 in size!

Olde Irish Blessing from Erica Michaels - click for more Olde Irish Blessing
Erica Michaels has 6 new pieces -- although her designs are presented on 40ct silk gauze, they are charted just the same, and can be stitched on any count fabric you wish! Featured here is The Olde Irish Blessing. Stitch count is 132 x 164 so it finishes approx 3 x 4 on the provided gauze cut... and can be approx 9-1/2 x almost 12 on 14/28. Either way -- a lovely greeting for your home.

Charted for DMC or hand-dyed flosses, you'll need two skeins of the Oatmeal (white) and one of everything else -- Heirloom Gold, Shutter Green, Toasted Barley and Seaweed. Such pretty lettering and the clovers intertwined with the gold chain border, this is just elegant. If you choose not to work the gauze, your background will not be stitched -- so choose a warm hand-dyed fabric to keep the same soft look.

This is a small bit of stitching -- *the 23rd Psalm* is all it says. Linda is showing it with a bit of Scrapbooking artwork as the finishing. She's made a 'prayer card' of sorts by decorating a card with the printed psalm on one side, and old lace and buttons on the other -- so highlight the bit of stitching.

Stitch count is 27 x 131, this is charted for DMC or hand-dyeds of Baby Spinach, Sable, and Artichoke!

Lots of things to remind you of the Christmas Season, this tiny stitched tree shape measures 83 x 104 stitches. Linda has worked it on 40ct silk gauze and embellished each tree 'branch' with a tiny gold petite seed bead, and added a small brass star to the top.

Rather than framing this, she has mounted it onto a vintage Christmas Card and added a few old buttons. It'd make a pretty, lightweight tree ornament this way, and would be kind of neat perched on an easel as a decoration as well. Just a different finishing thought! Offered as the chart with gauze and star, flosses and beads come from your stash.

This is really pretty. The background needs to be worked first -- so you can SEE where all your white stitches will go -- on that white gauze. Because you are executing only a half stitch -- you get an empty area that is 'diagonal' rather than totally square, so Linda is using some whole Crosses to make the flakes a better shape.

Then, you have a white Saw Tooth Satin Stitched border surrounding this -- but I don't think you can see that in the picture. Very simple in color and really elegant, this measures a mere 2 x 2 on the 40ct gauze.

Jingle Squared from Erica Michaels - click for more Jingle Squared
Erica Michaels has a new 4-part mini-gauze design that is SO CHARMING!!! Jingle Squared is just like Scared and Seaside Squared -- 4 TINY motifs jammed together into a petite 2 x 2 stitched area. 10 Different colors of DMC and handyed flosses, you are doing one-half a stitch on the 40ct gauze. We have several other of Linda's things stitched on such fabrics as 32ct, and even 14... so don't let that little number like 40 dissuade you! (if you're past 40... think of how good 40 was!)

Anyway... real cute motifs, lovely color... we like these displayed on an easel or in a little stand-up cube, or framed. Really neat as tree ornaments - but really too pretty and delicate to risk getting lost among the branches. Display these by themselves... they deserve it. Offered as the chart with cut of gauze. Elegant color, gorgeous fonts for the medley of seasonal words and sentiments... this stitches into a very classic Holiday decoration. Stitched on 40ct silk gauze, with DMC threads, this finishes approx 3 x 3-1/2 inches. Good Every Day from Erica Michaels - click for more Good Every Day
A flowing vine of stylized flowers against a background of soft swirls... this is luscious! *Find the good in every day* is the featured verse in this 2 x 4-ish tiny masterpiece. The saw tooth border is actually worked in Satin Stitch! Gorgeous palette of reds, and greens, with the 'blue sky background' and the golden border. I wish the flowers in my yard grew like these!!!

Pretty seaside colors, the mermaid and lighthouse, you get all sorts of sea creatures in the waves below. Finishing just under 2 x 2, what a neat little piece for anyone who loves the ocean and the waves. The tiny crab and whale are less than 1/2 an inch each!

Offered in chart format, along with a bit of silk gauze for stitching, this uses regular over-dyed flosses -- not too much -- because it is so petite! You're just using half a cross stitch, and I find that highlighting the finished rows on your chart are a great help in the stitching process.

All Thy Works
Featuring Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, Linda has packed the whole world into this delightful miniature work of art! Stitched with one strand of hand-dyed and DMC cotton floss over one on 40ct silk gauze, this might take a while to execute, but well worth the effort. Enchanting with all the tiny details in here, this is one of Linda's drawings... and we saw it before it was even stitched and were blown away.

You're doing a simple Half Cross Stitch. I find it easier to mark my chart with a yellow highlighter when I've finished a row or section. Sometimes those teeny stitches are too hard to count. The chart comes with the gauze, but if you want to do this on something larger -- like 28ct Cashel -- you can. (28 count will finish approx 10 x 13!!!) Just breathtaking!

Oh, this is a CHARMING miniature acorn scissor fob that is stitched over one on 30ct silk gauze. (same size as over one on 30ct linen.) Erica Michaels' Linda has outdone herself with her latest releases -- we have 6 of them -- this is just one!

Stitched with one strand of Gentle Art's Simply Wool thread... this tiny acorn finishes approx 1.7 x 2.2 inches -- you can see its size, because that's my hand in the pic!

Chart comes with the gauze and brass acorn charm... we sell the wool thread separately. This tiny thing is just beautiful... it feels so good in your hand... I think because the wool is so soft, and it's a pleasing shape, the colors are soothing and gentle!

We Are Blessed
Retiring!
'Let each of us be mindful of all we have for which to give thanks; friends, food, hopes, health and happy memories. So in giving thanks, we are blessed.' This piece is absolutely stunning... it's over-the-top awesome! Stitched over one on 40ct silk gauze using Weeks and Gentle Art flosses, it finishes approx 4 x 5 -- the stitch count being 197 x 157. (That's 11 x 14 on 14ct!!!!!)

Very Autumnal in color, there are acorns rounding the border, and a subtle Fleur-de-Lis pattern in the background. Chart includes the cut of gauze needed. The overdyed threads called for give you that aged look, and are available separately. Solid stitching... this is breathtaking!!!

Little Bits
Halloween, Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, Christmas, and Kris Kringle!

NOTHING is as cute as these are -- one thread over one square of 40ct silk gauze -- Linda Stolz has definitely found her niche in silk gauze designing!!! We present a set of 5 tiny 1-1/4 x 2 inch designs for the Holidays!!! She even has Smryna Crosses in some of these -- over one on 40ct! Stitched with overdyeds and DMC flosses, you simply do a 1/2 a stitch to make these tiny creations! Each is offered as the chart with cut of gauze.

YOU CAN STITCH THESE ON ANYTHING LARGER... if gauze is not your fancy -- on 28ct linen, they would finish approx 3-1/2 x 6, which is still pretty petite! Great colors, fun motifs, the Holiday name down the left-hand side adds a touch of contemporary.
Be sure to click the images above so you can see these in their full glory!

Grand Old Flag from Erica Michaels - click for more Grand Old Flag from Erica Michaels - click for more Grand Old Flag

Wow... Erica Michael's Linda Stolz has really outdone herself with this one! An old-fashioned flag design, stitched in overdyeds... you can stitch this on any count fabric you like.

On 28ct... Grand Old Flag measures approx 3 x 5... BUT... if you decide to be adventuresome, and work on 40ct, you will be transported into Bliss! Grand Old Flag will measure a mere 1 x 3-1/2!!!

You can work it in regular cross stitches... and it will be lovely... but you can also work it in HALF the cross stitch... (you never even cross the X!)... and for 1/2 the work, you get *triple* the impact! A lovely little design, her overdyed color choices remind you of denim and raspberry, with age-stained white. Offered as a chart.

Serenity from Erica Michaels - click for more Serenity from Erica Michaels - click for more Serenity

God, Grant me the Serenity to accept the things I cannot change... Erica Michaels has stitched this quietly comforting statement in cross stitch. Serenity is presented as a chart; in the picture, it is stitched in only the first half of your cross stitches on 40ct silk gauze! (DO NOT PANIC! Remember, you're asking for Serenity, Courage and Wisdom!!!)

One of her Petite Collection of Silk Gauze pieces, these are all deceptively easy to execute... they appear to have 'streaks' in the backgrounds -- that's the overdyed floss at work for you! All the subtle color differences add lots of interest, without you doing any of that work!!! The Serenity Prayer is charted for stitching with or without 'God' in the top block of the design... I choose one way to stitch it, another may choose the other! (I think I have serenity, courage and wisdom about all that...!)

Anyway, this is offered in chart format, WITH the cut of 40ct silk gauze. It finishes approx 3 x 4 on the 40ct (could be 9 x 10 on 14ct aida or 28ct linen!) and is stitched in Weeks, and Gentle Art overdyes, and DMC 644. Very classy, I wish she'd shown the framed piece on her pattern cover... this is serious elegance in a custom frame!!!

Little Bit O' Summer from Erica Michaels -- click to see more Little Bit O' Summer
Linda has rounded out her four TINY seasons with this wild seashore scene!!! The sand castle, the little terra cotta crab, pelican, bright sunshine, stormy sky, and those roiling waves... I was going to say all we needed was JAWS... but I do see a little sea turtle in those waves!!! A teeny-weeny 1 x 2 creation... this joins Spring, Autumn and Winter -- and all are *really neat!*

Each framed piece fits easily into my hand... SUCH an eye-catcher displayed individually on a small plate easel! Olde Colonial makes the little frame you see here... We can send the chart (that contains the little piece of gauze) and that petite frame! Zip-Zap - you add schnigglets of your flosses to stitch this in about 15 hours... and you're done!

Random Threads from Erica Michaels -- click to see more Random Threads
Erica Michaels has designed a *precious* miniature stitching piece!!! As part of her 40ct silk gauze series of Petites, Random Threads is a tiny 1.8 x 1.8 inches, and is a miniature medley of threads, spools, and 'sewing stuff.' All 1/2 crosses of Crescent's Belle Soie Silk -- the colors used are Chocolat, Cinnamon Stick and Vanilla Pudding! Sounds good enough to eat!

Your mini confection will make an awesome scissor fob... but if you'd like to frame it in Olde Colonial's 'bead board' frame, we have it, too! An exquisite little piece! Offered as the chart with silk gauze. Crescent Silks and frame offered separately.

Little Bit O' Spring from Erica Michaels -- click to see more Little Bit O' Spring
A colorful garden of Springtime flowers lined up in the Spring sunshine... 11 colors of Crescent's hand-dyed flosses are needed to stitch this tiny 1 x 2 inch wonder! Worked in half crosses (only the first stitch of an X) these really do stitch quickly!

Offered as the chart with 40ct silk gauze, you CAN stitch these on any other fabric as well -- because, remember, you do have the chart! Summer is due out in a few weeks, which will complete the 4-Seasons set.

Retiring!
Erica Michaels is into 40ct silk gauze these days... and this new piece is a stunning example of her talents! It is really only 1/2 stitches on 40ct, so the stitching measures a mere 1.7 x 2 inches... and is worked in only 4 colors of hand-dyed flosses and one DMC. A deep, rich green, accented with lighter green, golds and purples, we had the model in the shop for a few special days, and it was a real eye-catcher!

A cool wedding or anniversary piece, or a gift for someone you love... the secret to working on the gauze is to highlight the parts of your chart that you have *finished.* That way, you eliminate lots of extra counting, and you know right where you are! Pattern includes the chart and the piece a gauze. You supply the bits of floss and the stitches! Exquisite!
(Linda's Summer and Spring miniature gauze season pieces are due out in a few weeks... companions to Autumn and Winter!)

Little Bit o Winter from Erica Michaels - click to see more Little Bit o Winter

A teeny thing... Winter stiches a mere 1 x 2 on the provided 40ct! Since gauze is no longer available, stitch this on whatever you have in your stash.

Calling for overdyed flosses gives the design lots of interest -- can you see the 'lines' in the background? That's the overdyed. Just exquisite!

Little Bit o' Autumn from Erica Michaels -- click to see more Little Bit o' Autumn

Autumn is the first of 4 seasons... and is stitched in 8 shades of Weeks hand-dyed flosses. It finishes a super-bitsy 1-1/2 x 2 inches, and is shown in one of Olde Colonial's teeny-weeny birdseye frames.

Silk Gauze stitching in Progress - click for a larger viewThis design no longer comes with the gauze that was originally intended... it isn't available any more! So it is now available for you to stitch on your choice of fabric. You can even re-stitch this on 10ct -- and have a 4 x 8 pillow!

Autumn Perch

Wow, what a fun Fall design... offered three different ways... in case you can't make up your mind!!! A big, fat blackbird is perched on top of a checkerboard pumpkin... stitch it on 40ct in silks, 10ct with size 5 Perle cottons, or 30ct linen with overdyeds. Or... punch needle it, enjoying the re-useable iron-on transfer!!! Luscious russets, moss greens, goldens and striking black. Each of the four ways this is worked... it's just stunning! Available as the leaflet with the iron-on transfer and Punch Needle instructions included!
