Presenting Just Nan's Merlin the Midnight Owl! Due in the Shop October 9th, Nan has a darling new little owl ornament pattern. She describes Merlin opening his starry eyes at midnight, under a silvery moon. Her newest little guy has a flat seamed bottom with wire feet to help him perch on any flat surface. Worked on 32ct Weeks Tin Roof Linen (stitching is full coverage, so linen will not show) with a combination of DMC and Weeks flosses, there is a bit of silver metallic in here as well. Eyes are sequins with beads, and there is an owl medallion charm on his back. His hat is a tiny purple crystal with silver sequin brim. His chart includes chart, instructions for stitching and finishing, multiple beads and sequins, owl head charmbead, and wire for feet. You'll need a bit of stuffing and a pin to attach his hat. Cute as can be... Nan has Merlin shown on a felt pumpkin she's had in her holiday decorations for years. It does not come with the pattern, so we suggest perching this little guy on those tiny real pumpkins! (Actually we think those small white ones are pretty cool for this.) Magical, a new band sampler and coordinating Pin Cube! Our Shipment Arrived! We have 12 copies left! :) Nan is currently working on a new band sampler and pin cube set which will be called Magical. It is her first band sampler in 10 years. Sampler measures 8 1/2 H X 5 inches W on 32 CT Zweigart Antique White Linen. She is stitching it with DMC floss in shades of pink, blue, lavender and green with an original verse and 6 diagrammed specialty stitches. Mingled in with rows of garden flowers are bluebirds, bees, butterflies, ladybugs and, since this is a magical garden, you will also find 2 lavender mice, a blue spider and a pink hedgehog! There will be lots of treasure! Unique embellishments include a painted gold flower spray, gold lined crystals, tiny gold flower beads, 3 colors of seed beads and white pearls. A tiny pin cube measuring 1 1/4 inch square matches the sampler with flowers on 5 sides and the spider and mice on the bottom. Cube design is 5 1/2 H X 4 inches W on the same linen. The cube perches on 4 fancy flower feet which the stitcher will pin in place with straight pins. The crowning touch is a Magic Flower Pin to be assembled by the stitcher and inserted in the top of the cube. The kit includes Pretty Pin Parts and instructions. Magical will include a color cover, 12-page Stitch Guide, all the embellishments including the flower feet for the cube, plus Pretty Pin Parts. Presenting Madame Butterfly Mouse on a Tin Nan's last little mouse perched on her tin house will be here by the end of April! Madame is ready for the sunny flower-filled days of summer. She is wearing a gown of gorgeous butterflies and pretty pink rose stitches accented with sky blue and golden bronze beads. Her blue flower hat is pinned in place with three blue beads, so she's ready for a sudden gust of wind! Her tin perch is decorated with rings of blue and bronze butterflies set against a dramatic black background, and Nan has added blue scalloped trim along the edge. Inside Madame's tiny tin, you'll be able to tuck your tiny frayed-edge needlebook. It is decorated with butterfly stitches, an antique brass butterfly charm, and sparkling blue crystal. Both the mouse and book are stitched on Week's Dye Work's 32ct Linen color of hand-dyed linen using DMC floss from your stash. Included with the leaflet are all the stitching and finishing instructions, beads, flower hat, butterfly charm, needlebook felt, decorated metal tin, gold tail and Nan's signature button base with magnet. All you'll need is a tiny bit of fusible interfacing for the book and mouse. Too darn cute, Madame Butterfly is the final Mouse on a Tin. Just Nan has announced her Rose Heart Bunny Little Rose Heart Bunny will be on her way to us an a few weeks.... she is Nan's final little 1 x 1-1/2 inch mouse design. She has soft pink felt ears and a furry pom-pom tail... and she'll be precious as an ornament, pin keep, spool topper, ornament - anything you want! Stitched on 32ct white linen with shades of pink and green DMC, she is embellished with rose beads, along with her ears and tail. She is also wearing a tiny Rose Quartz heart HAT that is held in place with a tiny pearl pin. All of Nan's previous little bunnies are now retired, and Rose Heart is the last in the series. Her chart includes the pic, graph, instructions for stitching and assembly, overdyed wool for the ears, pom-pom tail, beads and pin. You'll need a tiny bit of batting to line/stuff her. Jeannette Douglas has some wooden spool scissor holders and spool ornament pieces. Rose Heart will fit atop the scissor holder - tuck the scissors into the topper hole behind her. Or get one of the ornaments - she can still perch atop that, and you can wind a pretty stitched floral border of stitching or bits of fabric around the spool.
Introducing Just Nan's Christmas Eve Mouse Just Nan has announced her 2023 Christmas Mouse - Eve. The Candles are lit, the garlands are hung, presents are wrapped and the clock is ticking down to midnight. Eve is waiting for Christmas Day to begin. Stitched with DMC and touches of gold metallic on weeks 32ct Mocha hand-dyed linen, she is wearing a red flower hat decorated with a striped bead. A gold bow bead holds the bead garlands in place - and notice her festive green tail! This is Nan's final Gingerbread Christmas Mouse... so Eve finishes this delightful set of charming mice. The kit includes color cover, graph and instructions for stitching and finishing, along with the green tail, button base, beads, red glass flower and gold bow bead. A sweet ornament for your tree! Christmas Snowfall Biscornu - A 3-1/4 inch biscornu cushion, stitched on both sides, this is covered with Nan's pretty lacy snowflakes, red flowers, greenery and flowing ribbons. Just Announced from Just Nan! Presenting Owlvira's Frightful House The Ghosts and Goblins at Scream House have new neighbors! Owlvira has moved in next door! Frightful House stands deep in the gloomy shadows of Haunted Hollow. When the leaves begin to fall, the house wakes up, and all the inhabitants take their places to show us how scary they can be. Owlvira Owl is the house manager. She has a room in the attic where she plans all the entertainment for each frightful night. The Stitch Guide includes behind the scene stories for each side of the house. Fences with garlands of purple lights surround the house, and the front door has a spider knocker. Ghosts, grimacing pumpkins, frogs, bats, spiders, skeletons, monsters and one menacing mummy appear on the 4 sides of the house, and you will find more creatures on the roof and in the creepy crawl space below. Owlvira's attic room features a spider web rug and black felt walls for needles and pins (and a little frog charm). New for Winter from Just Nan - due in the shop February 8th! Winter Blues - Nan is giving new life to one of her samplers originally published in 2001 - but long since retired. Winter Blues is worked with DMC (or silks) on white. In the olden days, we used a lot of 28ct - now you might choose to stitch this on a 36 or 40ct. Nan is including her handpainted bluebird Charmbead embellishment which is tucked into the sampler about half-way down the piece. The bird and included beads will be lovely on whatever count fabric you choose. Frosty and pretty, lots of gorgeous border-bands in this one! Leaflet with bird and beads included. Frosty Gnomes - Well aren't these little guys charming? Four tiny gnomes - all sporting spike-y Satin Stitch beards, warm little tweed hats, and glass bead noses... they are surrounded by sparkly snowflakes. Presenting Just Nan's The Mouse-on-a-Tin (MOAT) Series from Just Nan These are the first of Nan's new little Magnetic Mice on Mini-Tins. Representing Nan's favorite Garden Visitors, we will be getting a Bee, Butterfly and Ladybug in the set as well. Mr Plumed Peacock is all decked out in peacock feathers stitched with vibrant DMC shades of blue, green, aqua and royal purple - Nan has added bits of gold metallic too. Decorated with teal and gold hex beads his topknot is a frosted glass flower bead. All mice in this series will be magnetized so they cling to their little tins securely - to keep watch over that tiny needlebook inside. Tins measure 2 inches in diameter, top is decorated with peacock feather artwork and sides with scalloped trim. Nan's Newest Designs are Here! 15 Tiny Gardens - Introducing Nan's newest 15-sided biscornu to remind us of our Spring Gardens all year long. Each of the 15 tiny garden scenes is different and showcases buds and blossoms worked in soft shades of pink and lavendar. Moving among the pretty petals and leaves are some of Nan's favorite garden visitors - ladybugs, bees, bunnies, butterflies, garden mice and lots of dragonflies. There is a lot to see, and all the tiny details are a delight to stitch. Stitched on both 32ct Antique White and Baby Pink Belfast linens, each piece is lavishly embellished with cream pearls and soft pink beads. The finished biscornu cushion is centered on both sides with a pink crystal coin bead, decorated at the corners with 10 Swarovski pink pearls and trimmed with more gold embossed beads. Pansy Rose Cube Pansy Rose Cube is Nan's perch for Pansy bunny - or any of her other delightful bunnies and mice! Each of the 5 sides features delicate pansies and pearl-centered satin flowers - every side is different, but they are all part of the same garden. Bunnies are peeking out the grasses on the 6th-side - the bottom! Stitched on 32ct Lilac Linen with DMC floss, the chart comes with all the necessary beads and pearls, Nan suggests Dritz glass headed pins from the craft store for those edge treatments. Heather Hedgehog lives in a cozy little A Frame house deep in the hedges of a country garden. Outside, the walls are covered with branches, vines, roses, wildflowers and berries. Frosty Chillingsworth Mouse -- the dapper fellow he is -- will lift your spirits this winter! Stitched on 32ct White Belfast linen with DMC flosses and a hint of opalescent metallic, he has a half-carrot nose and wears a black top hat and sporty red and black plaid scarf. His winter sweater features beaded snowflakes and a fir tree with tiny cardinals stitched over one on the back. (We're talking a very teeny-weeny sweater here, so don't stress about those over-one stitches -- there aren't many of them!) White tipped pins serve as his stick arms with mittens, and his hat has caught a snowflake. Gingerbread Mouse Reindeer Stocking Nan's second little stocking design is here. Featured inside is Gingerbread Reindeer Mouse - but actually any of her little mice (all available separately from the stocking) will fit in here! Just 2-1/2 inches tall, this little stocking features a festive reindeer with beaded antlers, a tiny decorated fir tree and a bitty mouse on Rudolph's back watching a lacy snowflake fall. Christmas Dragon Ornament Nan is introducing a pretty Christmas flower ornament stitched in red DMCs with a touch of gold metallic. Tiny backstitched dragonflies decorate the corners and the center is tufted with a crystal pearl. We had A FEW available that feature a painted dragonfly PIN (NOW SOLD OUT!) (came from a vintage mold that is now broken, so there will be no more made) embellishment in the center, and a few more that feature a smaller dragonfly CHARM. Nan has hand painted BOTH the pins and charms... so either version is lovely! Stitched on 32ct Raw Belfast, the ornament finishes 2-1/2 inches square. Baby Celebration There is a new granddaughter in Nan's life! Baby Hope arrived this past Fall, just as sweet as she can be! So... Nan's best-selling Baby Garden has a sequel!!!! Baby Celebration is a garden full of baby critters, delicate florals and greenery. Stitched on 32ct Raw Belfast linen, there is a baby in the crib, the garden clock recording time of birth, and rows and rows of bunnies, bees, and ladybugs. Featured is a hand-painted swan charm gliding in the garden pond. Like Baby Garden, just a lovely birth memento -- timeless. Return of Amethyst Snowflake An EVER-popular out-of-print (circa 1997) and previously LOST design of Nan's has been reborn! They say 'house cleaning' in the design studio was responsible for finding ONE lonely leaflet. (always underneath a file cabinet or something!) Nan re-created it, re-stitched, framed and photographed... and here it is. Lovely as ever, Amethyst Snowflake glistens with silver #4 braid, four different colors of beads and pops with #8 and #12 white Pearl Cotton stitches in it's 6 x 6 size. It was always pretty... can't wait for the digitally remasterd edition! (only made by hand... by Nan!)
Peppermint Snowflakes Tree Nan's last in her set of 4 seasonal trees is here... Peppermint Snowflakes is stitched on 32ct Natural/Opalescent Belfast Linen in just 7 shades of DMC floss! The fabric glistens to show off all the little red and white flakes in this 3-1/2 x 5 inch piece. The embellishments include some tiny white pearls. a silver-toned filigree heart charm, a few teeny seed beads, and the COOLEST little red and white striped seed beads! Spider Moon Oh My Gosh... Nan always out-does herself with her Halloween pieces... and Spider Moon is no exception! Beneath the spider moon Ghosts drift out to play * Bones begin to dance * Monsters start to sway * Witches cackle tunes * Owls hoot and prey ... Night will end soon -- beneath the spider moon! Seasonal Trees A tree of Valentines! Nan has designed a small 3-1/2 x 5 Springtime Tree that is full of 15 different stitched hearts. Coded for DMC, it does call for Evergreen Sampler Thread -- see it in the Satin Stitch heart greenery? Your tiny tree is garnished with a smattering of white and pink pearls, a crystal heart bead and a pretty antiqued silver filagree heart token. Just a pretty little thing, I can see stitching just the 'leaf part' and making it into a round pin cushion! I know there are three other trees coming for the seasons - Nan told me the Fall one is all little jack-o-lantern faces!!! So... three more coming... we'll auto-ship you when the time comes -- if you'd like to have all 4. Stitched on 32ct Flax linen.
Flowering Crown Could be a crown, but could be a Spring Basket of blooms -- tempting those bunnies-in-waiting! Nan's newest design is worked on 32ct Angel Blush Belfast linen in DMC and Gentle Art Sampler Threads. Finishing 3 x 5, it features gold bead embellishments and a lovely Springtime basket of pink, green and lavender blooms. I think my favorite part is the corner treatment with the tiny rabbits -- wouldn't they make sweet little ornaments? Offered as a chart with the bead embellishments, take note of the black metal frame -- perched on a blossom of 'leaves.' Very fresh and clean, don't you wish they made a big-screen TV stand like this?
Just Nan's new designs Snowflowers is another of Nan's pretty, lacy snowflake designs. Stitched with #8 white Pearl Cotton -- which adds lots of texture -- there are 7 special stitches in here, as well. Tiny bits of pale pink, blue, lavender and green floss flowers are tucked in between flowers, butterflies and bees in here! No Kidding!!! This must be a last-snow-of-the-season flake... as it hints and teases of the beauty of the upcoming promised Spring!!! 3 Violets Humbug... Such a precious bunny with little chicks! Hootzi Humbug Well, WHOO can resist this darling little hooting owl? Introducing Hootzie Humbug -- Just Nan's newest tiny creation -- a four-sided little piece -- complete with stitching all around that used to come with a sparkly Charm Garden Owl Pin -- now all gone. The name 'Humbug' refers to the English name for a hard candy that is shaped like a little pyramid. A fun shape that is easy to construct, (REALLY!), Hootzi is stitched on 28ct Light Sand Cashel Linen in DMC flosses, and three Sampler Threads. He's perched above a pumpkin patch, and his colors are a splash of Autumn Wonder!!! He comes as a small chart-pack, with complete assembly instructions, a gold topper ring, tiny plaid ribbon, and bits of glass beads -- all to finish approx 3 x 3! Perfect for an ornament or scissor fob! Hootzie is the introduction to Nan's newest set of 4 Humbug shaped designs releasing in 2010. Counting Bats Presenting Just Nan's upcoming 2009 Halloween Sampler... Counting Bats! Foretelling the stitcher's fate on Halloween night... bands of little ghoulies, ghosts and goblins are scattered throughout all the bands and the little verse. Awesome silks or cottons of oranges, yellows, purples, slime limes and black -- Nan always has so much charming detail in her Halloween things, Counting Bats is no different! In fact... I see some neighbors to Scream House's Nettie Nightshade lurking around in this! Sirens of the Sea Nan's newest sampler... Sirens of the Sea speaks of mermaids and their ivory needles, singing, dancing and stitching samplers in their caves! Stitched on 28ct Meadow Mist hand-dyed Cashel linen in DMC floss or Au Ver A Soie Silks, it finishes approx 4 x 11. The leaflet includes an embellishment pack that contains some tiny pearl embellishments, 3 colors of beads, and a silver scallop shell bead that you can see near the top, below the whale! The fish and mermaid's faces are stitched over one, and there are a few Satin and Cashmere Stitch areas for a bit of texture. Just Charming -- the aqua-blues look very cool and refreshing -- all the colors send me straight to the Caribbean!!!
Floral Fifteen Leave it to Nan to take the 'ordinary' biscornu to the next level... by adding 13 more sides!!!!! I know she wasn't a geometry major in school, but she's figured out the proportions to create an exquisite 15-sided pin cushion! Decorated with tiny motifs that are balanced, and placed to 'present well to your eye' from each of their respective angles, your 15-piece creation is just stunning!!! A vision of flowers, 13 different motifs, creating 15 different florals and medallions are stitched on 28ct Antique White and Mint Green Cashel linens in a garden rainbow of silks, each tiny section is stitched. The Just Nan Stocking Collection I just want to highlight -- in one place on our site -- Nan's lovely collection of Christmas Stockings. Each have been annual releases, and cover 8 years! Timeless designs, each is prettier than the last. Lots of horizontal bands, pretty stitches, beads and crystals, you'll notice that the top bands do not feature names. If you like, you can add that to the top of each... but I like that small tag that can hang off the side... a really classy way to announce the owner! The Angel Stocking features a center area that will fit ANY of Nan's 15 Annual Angels... so you have LOTS of choices for this one! (You could stitch the whole family angels, using the same main stocking design. This leaflet includes one angel design.) Little Victor -- Nan's first grandson -- arrived almost 5 years ago, and his stocking does differ from the rest.
