Maryland Blue Crab by Ardith Designs - click for more Setting Sail by Ardith Designs - click for more
Summer Designs by Ardth Designs
I picked up 4 cute designs by Ardith Designs at the recent Market, lots of variety in them! (The other two are on the Winter Seasonal page.)
  • Setting Sail - A fun sea-sampler, this is charted to finish into a triangular shape. The piece is made into a little sail, and apparently you can buy a small wooden sailboat kit to make the boat in the pic for your sail! Details for this are in with the chart. It isn't coded for DMC either... but the pictures are really good and it's all blue... so I think you could figure something out. Full of little fish, and sea creatures, it's just an endearing design with a fun finishing treatment that caught our eye. Presented as a chart.
  • Maryland Blue Crab - A super-easy crab that measures just 56 x 60, stitch him-her(?) on a sandy colored fabric so it will look good as a cushion nestled in your bowl of sea glass or shells. Choose one color of hand-dyed, and you're done!

Just a few unusual treats from Mani di Donna - Coming from Italy - to Market - to Tulsa!
  • Elegant Flowers Sewing Box - This is a fabric-covered cardboard round box - with a little pull-out drawer. Since we've never seen a box like this, we are taking her class in constructing this 'little curiosity' at Market. Simona is offering this in chart format, and we can't wait to get our hands on it. We've seen those decorative handle rings at Hobby Lobby, so this promises to be very do-able! The top stitching measures about 4 inches in diameter - to give you a size idea for the entire box. Worked on 32ct, coded for DMC. We are including the waxer with the chart.
  • The Barn in the Sun Sewing Set - A cute little quilt-inspired sewing set of thread and pin case, pin mattress, and scissor bag. Stitched on Weeks 32ct Cocoa Linen with DMC, along with the chart, we are including the 2 specialty pins, the beaded scissor fob, the hand-dyed pom-pom trim. Promises to be petite and colorful!
  • Live Simple Sewing Box - Worked on 32ct linen with Weeks hand-dyed flosses, this is trimmed with lining fabric of your choice (from your stash) and Weeks Merlot hand-dyed wool. The accessories included with the chart are the black mourning pins, the tag board behind the stitched sheep, the sheep waxer, and the beaded decorative pin shown in the pic. If you 'patchwork' the wool on the topper inside, you can probably get by with three coordinating schnigglet cuts of our wool... I don't know that yet, because I don't have this in my hands. Just thought it was a cute project!
  • Memories From Nantucket - This charming cushion caught my eye because of the verse. Basically she says that when her sailor-boy takes off for another sea voyage, she's blowing him off and leaving town! It says, I have made up my mind now to be a sailors wife, to have a purse full of money and a very easy life. But when he says goodbye my love, I'm off across the sea! Stitched on 32ct with Weeks flosses, it's trimmed with Lady Dot Chenille. I think it's so much fun when you have something like this that looks normal, but then you read the verse and just laugh!

Free Birds, God is Good and A Little Summer
from Sweet Wing Studio A trio of new, lighthearted summer designs from Sweet Wing Studio
  • Free Birds - A sweet row of tiny American birds! Just 32 x 116 - 2 x 7 on 32ct... DMCs with a little hand-dyed tossed in.
  • A Little Summer - A medley of garden veggies, popsicles, sunflowers and sailboats, it's colorful and would make a fun block stand-up piece. Finishes 3-1/2 x 5-1/2 on 32ct, DMC and some hand-dyeds.
  • God is Good - A very subtle and soft design... 97 stitches square, this finishes about 6 inches on 32ct. If you have a special finishing fabric you want to use, consider changing the colors - it's coded for both DMC and hand-dyeds.

Between Friends: A Summer Sampling
from Summer House Stitche Works and Hands On Design
Beth Seal and Cathy Habermann's seasonal collaboration book is here! Working together in their 'needlework garden' they weeded, coaxed and watered daily to bring us 7 cute summery/gardeny designs.

There is a picnic plaid pin cushion in here... great finishing instructions for tassel making, a cute tool holder for hoops, pens, trinkets - along with its finishing tutorial, and a pair of seed packet covers. 24 pages of pretty pictures and lovely charts - but nothing too big to not-get-done!

Ocean Pearl
from The Tiny Modernist
Tiny Modernist has finally finished her 3-part series of The Ocean Pearl. We now have all three parts, and they are offered together - so you don't have to 'hunt and gather' to collect them here and there. OP is stitched on 28ct Stoney Point Linen - a muted soft green shade.

Measuring 129 x 180, it finishes approx 9 x 13 on the 28. You get a cute mermaid, that Pirate Sea Captain, and their Treasure Chest of gold and jewels. The 'glass globe' is full of a busy underwater community of whale, octopus, turtle, star and jelly fish - all stitched in bright, whimsical and happy colors of DMC. I need to buy a beach-condo so I can stitch this and have a place to hang it!

This is a pretty set of very inspirational designs, also from Anabella's, each measuring just 84 x 56 - or 3-1/2 x 5-1/2 on 32ct. Stitched with only two Classic Colorworks flosses of Frosted Sage and Queen Bee, I like the different finishing presentations on each leaflet. Presented in 4 separate leaflets.

Oh Sweet Berry Pouch from Homespun Elegance - click to see more Oh Sweet Berry Pouch
from Homespun Elegance
This is a pretty strawberry... small, it measures 29 x 46 without the border. Sandra has put it on two different counts of fabric - the 20ct version COULD use #5 Pearl Cotton, but both are shown stitched with DMC and hand-dyed flosses.

The gold 'seeds' could be beads on either count! Just a pretty berry, I think just by itself, it'd make a pretty pin cushion. Presented as a chart, no embellishments are included.

Several New Designs from The Artzy Housewife Coming Our Way!

This measures 7 x 11 on 36ct, and is coded for hand-dyeds or DMC. Gigi chose a neutral creme fabric.
  • Pink Barn - Charted for DMC and stitched on Lambswool linen, I love the lavish border and that curious cow! Not sure I want a pink-ish barn, but it actually goes with the rest of the picture!
  • Pear Hill - More pretty fruits dripping from the trees, this one features a penny rug inspired border and pinwheel flowers in the garden. 6-1/2 x 9-1/2 on 18/36.
  • Oona Owl - Isn't the a fun design? That sweet little owl against that charming and whimsical background - she measures just 6 x 6-1/2 on 18/36 and is done with all the hand-dyeds

Summer only looks this good if you have a place on the water! I can only dream! anyway, by Pickle Barrel Designs, I thought this would be really fun mounted on the front of the guest book or photo album at your summer place.

Peace, Grace, Byron and Bedelia from The Artsy Housewife
This is a four-some of charming designs by Artsy Housewife. Presented in chartpacks, each uses a medley of DMC, Weeks and Classic Flosses.
  • Peace - measures approx 7 x 8. Gigi has used THREE DIFFERENT scraps of linen on this - and even mixed the counts between 30 and 32! She's joined her cuts together with an invisible ladder stitch, but informs that you can use just one color of material in one piece if you'd rather. What a great way to use up smaller bits of fabrics you have! Peace is worked on PTP 32 Oaken, 32 Seraphim Bees Knees, and 30ct Weeks Dolphin. I love the 'permission' to go wild and mix the fabrics - and you certainly don't need three inches on the sides of all your small cutsnixed fabrics!
  • Grace - companions Peace, and is basically the same size. Again mixed flosses, this time she hasn't told us what the fabrics are! Probably the same as Peace, but maybe you could do the bird section on yet a different color but keep the two side panels the same? It's a really cool design concept.
  • Byron Blackbird - Isn't this little guy eyecatching? Stitched on a 30ct creme linen that has been distresssed with RIT dye and coffee grounds, he measures approx 6-1/2 x 4 on 36ct. Coded for DMC, it does use Weeks Schneckley and Classic's Blackbird handdyeds. If you stain this after the stitching is done, it generally softens your colors... so you have a choice of when to stress!
  • Bedelia Bunny - Is darling! She measures 96 x 94 and finishes approx 5 x 5 on 40ct Picture This Plus Veldt linen. Only 8 shades of DMC on this, you might play around with your background fabric a little to help the bunny show up better. So soft and pretty as is though.

Fresh Flowers and Animals all from the Farm from Serenita di Campagna
I love these designs... all so classic and soft in color and composition.
  • #207 Welcome to the Farm Features a glorious chicken atop his favorite wash bucket. The tin is DMC #415... so finding a matching gray fabric for the verse side of the pillow is do-able.
  • #169 Fresh Flowers Market 2 Mama and her babies - who I believe are stepping on all the new flowers!
  • #208 Farm Fresh Has the cutest bunny checking out the snails on his lettuce! Here's another where she's chosen a different color of fabric for the portion of the design with the wording on it, it makes a neat finish.
  • Fresh Eggs features more charming chickens - not doing much - as most chickens do! Each of the pillow designs measures approx 3 x 7 while the side panel with the extra verse is smaller at 3-ish inches. Notice how she's kind of repeated the ribbon pattern on the dividing ribbon up there above the words?
American Strawberries -- click for a larger view Little Liberties from Little Robin Designs - click for more E Pluribus Unum from Jan Hicks Creates - click for more A Snowflake Quaker Style from Aury TM - click to see more
Celebrating Red, White and Blue... four new designs have arrived!
  • #100 Prairie Schooler's American Strawberries - This is a reprint of one of PS's many past favorites. Stitched in just 4 colors of DMC floss, everybody loves strawberry pin cushions and these look delicious from every angle! Choose any count fabric you want, choose any pretty Week's wool for your toppers... even though these have almost complete coverage, they are pretty quick to stitch.
  • Little Liberties by Little Robin Designs - A trio of pin cushions, I see how you could have joined these into one piece - 4 x 10 on 32ct - but I like the three cushion idea. I especially like the floss colors - Holly Berry and Navy - divided up between the three. Each cushion measures about 4 x 3-1/2, and they'd look stunning nestled together in a bowl. All three designs are in the chart.
  • E Pluribus Unum - By Jan Hicks Creates, this is quite the different and quirky flag! Jan describes the stripes in her flag as ribbons streaming down. When the words came to her 'Out of many - One,' she decided the ribbons came to represent all of us who make up The United States - we're all different, large and small, different colors, different belief systems. All of us are needed to make this country what it is... beauty in diversity. Measuring 114 x 171, this will finish approx 7 x 11 on 32ct, and is worked with an amazing array of hand-dyed flosses - there are 18 different colors in here! Love it!
  • A Snowflake Quaker Style by Aury TM. Ok... NOT 4th of July/Patriotic related... but I threw it in here because it's white on blue, and it's so striking! Your challenge in this is to find a bold fabric to work on. After that, grab some white floss, a little counting patience, and you're good to go! This design measures 131 in stitch count... your fabric count will determine your final finished size.

American Pie, Peaceful Pondering and Feeling Crabby?
from Meridian Designs
Meridian Designs has three cute new things...
  • American Pie is a cheerful 3 x 5 pin cushion design stitched on really any 14-16 or 28-32 fabric background you like. Along with the chart, she has included BOTH cuts of the red and blue finishing fabric you see in the pic as well as the white baby balls and blue rik rak trim! Really a cute finish, the pillow back is the red fabric - so your will look just like the cover pic. Coded for DMC - choose from your stash on that.
  • Peaceful Pondering and Feeling Crabby? I guess two very different moods! Serene dragonflies, or edgy, prickly crabs! These are each offered in their separate charts and I liked them both. Coded for DMC, they are stitched on fun colors of fabrics and garnished with a few Mill Hill beads. (Some opalescent Treasure Braid would be awesome in those dragonflies!) Just 60 x 60 each, colorful and happy.

We hit Summertime and Valentines with these two offerings by The Elegant Thread!
  • Liberty Lobstah is just a fun little creepy crustacian! Stitched on a creme background, with 5 shades of Weeks Dye Works hand-dyed flosses, it'll finish 5 x 7 - with the words, or 3 x 5 without. Just a silly and cute little thing, the chart includes three silvertoned patriotic charms. Elegant Thread's Lobstah Dinner Ornament kit is still available as well - cute just like this one!
  • Hedge Hugs - Isn't this cute? Your baby hedgehog is bringing your love! Coded for Sulky thread - just follow the color pic on the chart cover to choose DMC, this finishes just 4 x 5 on 16/32ct. I'd choose a pretty brown Simply Wool for the hedgehog fur and a little black metallic for his eyes and nose!

Lobstah Dinnah Ornament from The Elegant Thread - click to see more Lobstah Dinnah Ornament

This is the CUTEST thing! By The Elegant Thread, stitch this cute little red lobster - he's 2 x 3 - and put him inside his mesh cage - he's ready to bring home for dinner! (Or you can hang him on your Christmas Tree, or perch him somewhere in your kitchen!)

Presented as a complete kit, you are stitching him over one thread on 22ct hand-dyed aqua blue linen. It's a pretty coarse weave, so it's not hard to see. Next, sew him together into a little pillow - the red and cream checkered backing fabric and interfacing are included. Then, roll the plastic mesh - included - into his trap, tie him inside there with the bit of included twine... and you're finished! This is SO creative and cute... I'm in the middle of nowhere in Oklahoma... I've never set lobster traps in my life, but even I know this is *a winnah!*

Oh my gosh, these are the CUTEST little opossoms enjoying fruits of the season! Little baby Millie has been munching on her sweet summer melon... and I bet she's nice and cool sitting right in it! Peter looks as pleased as pie... he's so lucky that he ran into an unattended pumpkin on someone's front porch! (We had something eat all our pumpkins we left outside last Fall ... I bet we made our yard critters as happy as these!)

Anyway, presented as charts, each finishes about 4-1/2 x 5-1/2 on 32ct linen, and uses both DMC and a smattering of hand-dyed flosses. I think these are charming and so unique, just love 'em!

Bless and Keept from Sweet Wing Studio - click to see more Forever in Peace from Sweet Wing Studio - click to see more Forever in Peace and Bless and Keep
from Sweet Wing Studio
  • Forever in Peace - This is a really cool new design by Sweet Wing Studio... it LOOKS like it's full of specialty stitches, but it is simply stitched patterns of color! Our Flag.... stitch it with or without the words... it's pretty either way! Coded for DMC or various hand-dyed flosses, the flag part measures 60 x 90, so you could get that part 3 x 4-1/2 on 20... or even 2 x 3-1/2 over one on 28ct Lugana! And, since the chart is solid symbols... it's probably easier to stitch this off the chartpack cover - the picture is clear and big enough! This just really caught our eye... and shop model is already off to the stitcher!
  • Bless and Keep - 'The Lord bless you and keep you...' I can hear the church hymn in my head! Measuring 62 x 94, this is coded for DMC and/or hand-dyeds and finishes a mere 4 x 6 on 32ct. Choose a darker fabric so the white lettering shows up - as it does in the pic.

Viva la Vida from Jardin Prive - click for more Viva la Vida from Jardin Prive
By Jardin Prive, this is a super-fun checkerboard of Summertime! I thought I'd put it up on 'Just Arrived' to give you an 'out-of-season-jolt!' Remember summertime, green grass, Popsicles and flowers? This colorful piece offers all that inside it's wildflower border - you even get the summer road trip from the mountains to the beach down at the bottom. 64 Tiny blocks - only 19 x 19 stitches - each has either an alphabet letter or tiny motif inside. Everything summer is in here, along with several blocks of cross stitch and needlework stuff - a hoop, scissors, spool of thread, floss bobbin, and buttons.

Stitched with regular DMC floss, the whole thing measures 210 in stitch count - or a serious 11-1/2 inches on 18ct. Now... think about deconstructing this - the borders would make rally cute windowsill 'hotdogs!' All those tiny squares would make fun cubes, or scissor fobs... you could spell someone's name and add a few pictures... it can take you till summer to figure out all the different ways you can have fun with this one!

Red White & Bloom from With Thy Needle -- click to see lots more Presenting Red White & Bloom from With Thy Needle & thread
Brenda Gervais has released info about her next set of *seasonal smalls* - they companion Love Notes and Jelly Bean jubilee. Red White and Bloom includes a Lady Liberty, Uncle Sam, busy little bumbler bees, cheery sunflowers and even a family of eagles. All the designs are small, but Brenda promises that they'll make a big statement when you display them together in a tray or basket. (She says it is delightfully fun to find little trinkets and decorations to include with the cushions because it really makes your stitching POP!)

All garden-y in theme, Lady Liberty has sunflowers as tall as she is, Sam is fashioned to look like a garden Whirli-gig, and his hat is even a planter. A bunting-draped watering can is home to a another sunflower, and the Mom and Dad eagles are perched and waiting for a festive party! Lots of the same colors of flosses are called for in both patterns, so no need to buy more thread. (Onyx, Pea Coat, Red Rocks, Grits, Oscar, Pamlico, Blue Suede, Grecian Gold, 611, 712, 3771 and 3778.

Brenda is supplying her alphabet-printed linen you see on the drum sides in the chart. The featured trim is by Lady Dot - Vintage Mini Pom, and is available separately. The chart gives sources for the 2 x 4 cardboard 'cake box' form, and the candle-stick wooden 'cake plate' base. Brenda says her finishing instructions will give you a 'prefectly-shaped cake with no wonky bumps or lumps... super easy, and no sewing machine required!'

Stitching Summer
from Twin Peak Primitives
Smell the Sea and feel the Sky - just don't get sand in your stitching bag! This is kind of a fun piece by Twin Peak Primitives... I see three bands of design in here... so lots of possibilities. The top row features spools of thread with those shorebirds, bitty cabanas and the fishermen on them. Notice the clothesline there with the scissors and needles on it? (and the bitty swimsuit!) The crabs are super cute, and the row of whales down below just makes it a busy sea-scene.

Presented as a leaflet, the stitch count is 170 x 119 - so 10-1/2 x 7-/12 on 16/32ct, and it calls for regular DMC floss. Easy to add some hand-dyeds , you could do the crabs in metallic, or the tiny swimming fish... or add buttons here and there if your stash 'overfloweth!'

Here's a cute little humbug shape that is decorated with stars and stripes of red, white and blue. Just a bitty thing, it's done on 40ct linen with DMC. The whole design measures only 31 x 64 in stitch count (1-1/2 x 3), so even if 40 isn't your favorite, it won't be a chore to work up.

You can finish it flat, in a frame, a pin cushion or make the tiny humbug shape - you decide! Kit comes with the chart, linen, flosses needle and bit of ribbon.

from Summer House Stitche Workes
Summer House Stitche Workes has a CHARMING pair of patriotic designs that she has finished into little round stand-up cushions - Pin Drums. Worked on 32ct Weeks Dye Works Tin Roof Linen, these are stitched with a special pack of Sulky Threads. When you have stitched these two pieces... you'll STILL have enough thread left to stitch Hand's On's Memorial Day piece!! The girls planned their designs this way - and best of all the thread set is only $16.00!

The larger drum is 159 x 64 - and the smaller is 159 x 51. Super-duper-darn-cute... we even ordered the limited edition flower-pin packs to make those three pins poking from the tops! (I think those are little flower-shaped bits of wool that Cathy Habermann has done!) Love those bright colors... go check out Memorial Day, as well!

Freedom from Madame Chantilly
from Madame Chantilly
This is the CUTEST little patriotic mouse - bringing stars and a smile to your face! You can stitch him on top of the watering can or off... and choose the red, white and blue star twigs or the bigger stars that spell 'freedom.'

Since Rossana is from Italy, she's included the Italian and French flags in here as well! Coded for DMC, the larger version is 114 x 122, the smaller one is 57 x 87. Absolutely the cutest!

The Flag by Bent Creek -- click to see more The Flag
from Bent Creek
Do you remember this? Bent Creek published it in 1995 - so it's 25 years old! A beautiful little flag, it measures 91 x 65 in stitch count - so 9 x 6 on 10ct, 6 x 4 on 32... or even 2-1/4 x 1-1/2 over one on 40!

It uses just DMC of 815, 822 and 823... and the letters from the alphabet make up all the stars. The stripes have no pattern to them - just stitches here and there to get that raggedy flavor!

This would be so cute in a girly bathroom, or on the wall of a cheerful and bright beach house! Stitched on white or whatever, in 19 shades of DMC, it finishes approx 8 x 11 on 14/28ct.

Dress it up with metallics and beads, or cute sea-shore charms... for SURE their belly buttons need to be gold beads! Just a cute overall design!

These are darling 4 x 4 squares of 'fishy things' that we smiled at! The pattern calls for Tropical Blue fabric - you can see that in the background... BUTTTTT wow, we have some white/opalescents that would be great too. THEN, stitch these in sparkling metallics!

Think about 18ct linen, and using Rainbow Gallery's metallic ribbons or nylon threads - add opalescent to the bubbles in the backgrounds --or even beads. Each design is super-simple, but so cute for a children's bathroom decoration... but you could always stitch the shark and make him a refrigerator magnet!

  • Bee Trifles - Three bee-themed cushions, each is worked on different colors of linen. Cute and summery... there are buttons scattered here and there, that come separately from the pattern.

Shipping sometime the end of May... Paulette said she is pretty proud of herself for getting her patriotic designs out before the 4th of July!
  • Summer Saltboxes - This continues her set of Saltbox houses... we have Summer and Autumn already. This time, she made the flag continue from one pic to the other. 63 x 81, they finish a little under 4 x 5 each and use Classic Colorworks flosses of Black Coffee, Used Brick, Tennessee Red Clay, Shabby Sheep, Muddy Puddle, Sticks and Twigs, Dublin Bay, Pine Needles, Eggshell and Snowball.
  • Summer Delivery - Just like her other 'Deliveries' this one has that cute horse... and a profusion of quilt motifs on the sky. The little sheep has a basket on his back, and all those blocks are the flowers coming from the basket. Finishes approx 6 x 10-ish, this one calls for Weeks Dye Works flosses of Mascara, Teal Frost, Flatfish, Confederate Gray, Grits, Swamp Water, Terrapin, Crimson and Baked Apple.

Heartstrings Samplery has a fun little design that speaks Patriotic, but with pretty 'samplery' flowers and vines.

Measuring about 4 x 15, Beth has it finished into a 'Huswife' - a roll that features a lining of pockets to store sewing implements. It'd make a pretty basket band... and a neat long pin cushion as well to perch on a widow sill. Coded for Weeks hand-dyed flosses.

Salute from Fern Ridge - click to see more Salute from Fern Ridge Collections
Fern Ridge has a new Humbug-shaped Needle Minder. This little thing is done with Peyote Stitching bead work. Actually very easy to execute... the instructions, however, drive me nuts! Pat and Peggy provide both numerical steps as well as a colored 'chart' for you to follow. You are beading all of this flat in your hand... and then joining top and bottom together opposite each other... to create that humbug shape.

It has a bit of poly-fil inside, as well as a rare-earth magnet to hold your needle. The cool crystal and beaded fringe is added afterward. When we do these in classes at Market... they take 3-4 hours to make. Fern Ridge's complete kit contains the red, white and blue beads and crystals, thread, charts and needle. You add those 4 hours and a little patience!

This is a STUNNING set of designs! By Needlemade Designs, it features a box-top design, tiny pin mattress, and even tinier scissor fob! Proceeds from the sales of this chart are being donated to the Wounded Warrior Project -- Designer Linda Vinson offers insight about that on the back of her chart. She has designed this amazing Home of the Free waving flag piece to be framed or grace the top of a small box. Worked on 28ct linen over one thread with Crescent Colours' Belle Soie Silks of Tulip, Blue Lagoon, Oatmeal Scone, Chocolat and Scarecrow, the main design measures approx 100 x 60 stitches. (The painted box in the pic is from JoAnn's. It includes 6 little round boxes inside that Linda has made into firecracker boxes!!! There is a white resin pre-made box shown on the back cover -- as an alternative to finishing your own.)

Next, is the tiny mattress -- it features E Pluribus Unum on one side, and the American Eagle on the other -- all in 35 x 40 stitches. Finally, the EXQUISITE little fob rounds out the set -- it is 20 x 20 stitches -- so approx 2/3 of an inch in size! Absolutely enchanting! Color pics are included in the directions for mattress assembly, including that rouched ribbon edging, making the interior firecracker boxes, and even painting the 4 x 5 paper mache' box from the craft chain store.

Bandana Ranch from The Needle's Notion
Bandana Ranch coming from The Needle's Notion
Oh my gosh, this is the CUTEST thing for your hacienda! We don't have those awesome mountains in Oklahoma, and not too many cactus, but we have the hats and the boots, the windmills and prairie dogs, and those paisley bandannas!

This chart features the main piece (5 x 8-ish on 32ct Lambswool) -- add your ranch's name or family name on there -- along with the boy and girl individual 3 x 4 stand-up designs. Charted for DMC and Sampler Threads, add beads if and where you want. We don't get many cute designs with this theme... so don't pass this by -- it is really cute!

Lindsay Lane has a pretty floral basket to celebrate the last fleeting days of Summer. Just a simple thing, it needs to be stitched on a soft, neutral shade of whatever fabric you like best. It uses Weeks Tarragon, Brick, Whiskey, Red Pear, Cognac, Cadet, Grapevine, Juniper and Parchment.

I love pulling the colors together to get a feel for the finished piece. Offered as a chart, it finishes a little under 4 x 6 on 32ct, so it'll make a fairly large pin cushion

. We have several other things by Lindsay Lane -- including Halloween and Autumn... but I couldn't resist this boquet!

Heartstrings Samplery has a new design -- For Spacious Skies -- that 'pops' with patriotic red colors. Work it on anything you like -- stitch count is 110 x 100.

Weeks flosses of Grits, Schneckley, Palomino, Grape Vine and Collards along with Sampler Threads of Brethren Blue, Pomegranate, Endive and Ruby Slipper -- I just love the red color and the green leaves against the light fabric. The pattern of the leaves is small and repeating -- just like the bricks on the house -- it all has a neat balance to it. Offered as the chart.

Next, came part two -- it has the bird, star and part of the flag along with threads. Finally, this part - #3 - has the rest of the house and flag, Uncle Sam and the Sign and threads for those. Each of the three parts can stand alone -- but they are fun joined together. Super easy to stitch on the 18ct with #5 Pearl Cotton -- it'll stitch in no time at all!!

Serenity Harbor - The Complete Piece from By the Bay Needleart
This charming scene was designed in 2014. Just as Harbor Haven, it was designed as a 12-part stitch-along thing. We have everything together now in one set... so you're good to go.

TONS of information inside about thread colors, fabric choices, but basically, the entire stitch count is 171 x 557 - so a commanding 6 x 20 on 14/28ct. Lots of stitches, this is so pretty when it's finished... several of our ladies have stitched it!

Summertime from Cuore e Batticuore - click for more Summertime from Cuore e Batticuore
This is delightful, and I just HAVE to share it with you! A Summer Seaside Scene, I'm not sure what my favorite design element is in this. The Little Gnomes with their pointy hats... going swimming??? The umbrella is delightful, the tiny flags are festive. The hearts in the air are cute, the little swimmer on the polka-dot innertube is precious -- see her braids trailing behind? I like the beach shack and the gulls perched everywhere... but I think the itsy-bitsy fish in his bowl -- with his OWN little pointy hat -- is so funny.

This has a stitch count of 285 x 157 and will finish approx 18 x 10 on 32ct Vintage Country Mocha Linen. Beautifully charted in color, the verse is presented in both English and Italian, and it calls for DMC floss. I think it's just the cutest thing... very different and endearing! Offered as a chart.

On The Beach from Madame Chantilly On The Beach from Madame Chantilly
This is a sweet summer scene that I couldn't resist, brought to us by Madame Chantilly. A generous 236 x 102 stitches, it'll finish approx 17 x 7 on 14/28 fabric... the picture was stitched on Natural... but a light blue or yellow would be pretty as well. All the beach cabanas are lined up, the seagulls are swirling, the crabs are waiting in the water, and the tiny airplane in the sky is advertising that it's the HOLIDAY!

Something about it makes me think of summer vacations of years ago. Add some gull buttons, a tiny shell or two, maybe a bit of metallic on the plane, hand-dyeds for the rocks, Simply Wool for the gulls, even some bitty black beads for the crab eyes! Offered as a chart.

Linda has rounded out her four TINY seasons with this wild seashore scene!!! The sand castle, the little terra cotta crab, pelican, bright sunshine, stormy sky, and those roiling waves... I was going to say all we needed was JAWS... but I do see a little sea turtle in those waves!!! A teeny-weeny 1 x 2 creation... this joins Spring, Autumn and Winter -- and all are *really neat!*

Each framed piece fits easily into my hand... SUCH an eye-catcher displayed individually on a small plate easel! Olde Colonial makes the little frame you see here... We can send the chart (that contains the little piece of gauze) and that petite frame! Zip-Zap - you add schnigglets of your flosses to stitch this in about 15 hours... and you're done!

You can work it in regular cross stitches... and it will be lovely... but you can also work it in HALF the cross stitch... (you never even cross the X!)... and for 1/2 the work, you get *triple* the impact! A lovely little design, her overdyed color choices remind you of denim and raspberry, with age-stained white. Offered as a chart, the 40ct gauze is included -- *Just in Case!!!*

Oh wow... we have had a retired model of this in the back room of the shop for years and years! I had thought we couldn't get the pattern anymore, but I loved the stitched model so much, I couldn't part with it. Then... MAGIC! By Sheepish Designs, this is Betsy Ross stitching the first American flag. She's in her garden of sheep, a peacock, birds, flowers and even a squirrel up there in the tree.

Coded for silks or DMC, it uses only Cross stitch and finishes approx 4-1/4 x 12-1/2 on 35ct. I'm not sure what part of it has the overwhelming appeal that it does... but over the years several gals have tried to buy the model, and were always disappointed that we had no chart! So, we present Betsy, in chart format, probably till we run out again!!

Land That I Love from Birds of a Feather
A cute, primitive piece, this finishes just 4 x 6 on 32ct linen, and is stitched with Weeks Dye Works flosses. Nothing super unusual... but it just has a charming feel about it to me! Available as a single chart leaflet.

Santa's workshop finishes approx 12 x 15, Harvest Trio finishes approx 5 x 12, and Awaken finishes approx 8 x 10. So colorful and pretty, we've packaged the beads and buttons together if you need them!

    Summer Snapperland from Bent Creek
The last in the Summer Snapperland set is finally here! The first design is darling... it's a tiny beach house, complete with a whale weathervane and little red crab on the sandy beach!

Offered as the small individual card, there are snap embellishments included for the each design. As with Spring and Winter Snapperland, Bent Creek has designed a really neat border chart, so that you can stitch all four designs in this mini-set as one bigger design. That border design reads, 'Turn your face to the sun, and the shadows fall behind you.' Along with the sunshine and shells, there are seahorses in the border design as well, and the special embellishment package contains more snaps, clay sand dollars and a sea scallop.

Stitched on 32ct Rue Green Belfast Linen... each design finishes approx 3 x 3. Stitched together with the freebie border, the entire piece finishes approx 5 x 15. SOOO cute!

One of three stunning new pieces by Jeannette Douglas... Seaside Stitches is full of special stitches, intricate motifs and stitch details, and special threads! Stitched on 32ct Meadow Mist Belfast Linen in 29 different silks, hand-dyeds, metallics and a wool, the thread pack listing is a miniature 'Who's Who' in the world of threads!!! The piece finishes approx 6 x 8 and is shown on the leaflet cover in one of Olde Colonial's exquisite Birdseye Maple Dowry boxes.

I can't tell what is my favorite part in all of this... there is a handpainted crab charm, lots of mermaids (with metallic tails), seashells and anchor motifs all stitched over one thread, the ship in the center has chain stitches around it... like a miniature rope. The Soie d'Alger, Silk 'n Colors, Waterlilies, Glorianna Silks, Luminescence, Princess Perle Petite, Lorikeet and Needlepoint Silks in here are a luscious blend of light, medium and dark corals, seaside blues and greens, rich jewel green and blue metallic, soft sand browns and creams... it is truly a miniature work of needleart!
