Follow The Yellow Brick Road This is a sweet, simple rendition of the story of The Wizard of Oz... cross-stitch-style. When stitched on 14ct, this'll finish approx 9 x 12-1/2 and is worked with 27 shades of DMC. It would be cute finished into a 6-sided stuffed fabric block... fun to turn it around in your hands to follow the story!
All The Fun Of The Fair Oh we might not be going to The Fair much in 2020... but we used to... and we will again! Now it means greasy food, and kind of getting sick watching the crazy rides. The 4-H exhibits are neat... the booths selling ironing board covers - not so much. So WHY do we remember it so well from when we were little? Everything must have been colorful back then, the candy was delicious, and those rides didn't make you sick - just super scared! This is a fun scene from your memory - measuring 123 x 176 - so 9 x 12 on 28ct. Coded for DMC, choose a fun background fabric color so the white will show up, and for heavens sake, add some metallics and beads to this! What a fun summer decoration to get out and display from June to September!
A little Christmas in July! New from Little Dove Designs A Stitch for All Seasons - Winter - This one measures 180 x 180. While the suggested background color is blue... there are lots of pretty fabrics this would look good on. The sections lend themselves to being stitched individually as well! I really like the middle panel of Bethlehem. Coded for regular DMC. Heart of Winter - Finishes approx 10 x 10 when worked on a 14/28ct. Coded for DMC, choose a grey or blue, so the white shows up against the fabric. I think some opalescent threads in those snowflakes would be pretty! Doesn't it remind you of a knitted sweater?
The 4 Seasons This is a 4-Chart Set of charming samplers - each for a season of the year. All 4 are the same size - finishing approx 7-1/2 x 11 on 16/32ct. She suggests natural, beige or taupe for three, and gray for the winter one... but we think you ought to stick with the same fabric for all 4, or switch it out for EACH piece, rather than 3 on one fabric and one on another. Coded for DMC, you've got lots of opportunity for beads, trinkets, metallics, furry threads, and hand-dyeds. Cute motifs, great little design details! We have gathered all 4 charts together for you, so nobody has to chase down a missing season!
Holly Jolly Christmas and Gingerbread Cottage Holly Jolly Christmas and Gingerbread Cottage are two new charts that I think have a lot of promise! The chart covers show only a computerized image of the colored chart, so you need to train your eye to imagine hand-dyed threads in them, beads, buttons, metallics, maybe even some specialty stitches for texture. Holly Jolly Christmas measures 145 x 148 - so about 10 x 10 on 14/28. You can split apart the sections and make single ornaments or pin cushions. EVERYWHERE I see opportunities for seed beads in eyes, berries, and snowflakes. Metallics would be fun in eyes, flags, the ornaments and Santa's sleigh. Little clay carrot buttons on the snowmen and the peppermints in the nine-patch, and the roof, tree and grass below Santa would be stunning with rows of Satin Stitches... and Rudolph needs a red bead nose! Gingerbread Cottage is fun too. More stitches, beads and buttons... Might be fun to add the family name to the cottage! This measures 79 x 119, so it'll finish about 5 x 8 on 16/32.
Little Dove's Year Here is a full set of small monthly designs by Little Dove... all presented in one chart... so, it easy on the stitching stash budget! Each month measures 65 x 60 stitches - so about 4 x 4. Stitch them individually and cushion them, or join them together in a vertical or horizontal shape. Each one has the name of the month in it, but not so integral to the design, so leave them out if you want. Lots of places to add beads and small embellishing buttons and charms. Metallics in October, opalescent in January, furry threads in March... coded for DMC, it calls for 31 different colors. I love the little ducks in May... swimming in all the water that fell in April!
Adjust Your Sails Life isn't about waiting for the winds to change... it's about learning to adjust your sails. Measuring 117 x 177 - so it finishes approx 7 x 11 on 32ct - this is stitched with 9 regular solid colors of DMC floss, and one hand-dyed for all the water and waves. The motifs in here are cute - all the little whales and the perky sailboats - it is stitched on any gray fabric so the whites of the sails will show up. (Not enough stitching time to do the whole thing? I see three different sections in here... maybe adjust your sails and choose just one or two? But how can you decide because they're all neat!) Christmas Wishes from Little Dove Designs This is a fun design that measures 53 x 253 in stitch count. (about 3 x 16 on 32ct.) Worked with 16 regular shades of DMC floss, you can split up the different areas of this and do them individually or join the whole piece as shown. Lots of opportunity to add hand-dyed flosses if you want or some cute clay buttons and what-nots... the chart is super-huge, colored and very easy to read.
