Needle travel Guide to Shops - 2019 Edition
The newest travel Guide for shops across the country is here. It is a 6 x 9 format, 596 pages full of maps, shop listings, hours, product selection summaries, phone numbers and website info.

Perfect for a road trip because over 5000 shops are listed and referenced by highways and cities.

An awesome little directory -- you'll love it! (This weighs over a pound, so will definitely ship via Priority Mail.)

DMC Actual-Swatch Color Cards - click to see more DMC Actual-Swatch Color Cards
Wow, we have these again! UPDATED to include the 35 new colors from last Fall... this is a comprehensive listing of DMC threads, the color numbers, and the listing of what color is manufactured in what weights of thread. (floss vs pearls 3, 5, 8 and 12.) It features pretty blocks of actual flosses all lined up in color family, so you can see how all the colors blend with each other. The varigated and metallics are also in here.

Use this to reference colors, help choose colors for your projects, match label-less threads... all sorts of stuff! For years DMC wasn't manufacturing these cards - too labor-intensive I guess. All we were getting were printed cards - not the same as the REAL threads in there - so these are wonderful, and we're happy!

from Madame Chantilly
I think this must be a little seamstress from Glouchester!!! That cute little mousie in the teacup is ready for business! Surrounded by spools, buttons and a threaded needle, the colors are pastel, but easily changed if you want them a little bolder.

89 x 67 Stitch count, it'd make a 4 x 5 pin cushion on 18/36ct. How cute is that... then, leave off the stitched buttons and use real ones instead!

This is the final set of itty-bitty scissor fob and ornaments designs in this series by Heartstring Samplery. Absolutely charming in subject and size, Coffee follows Garden, Harvest, Christmas, Winter, Stitching, Springtime, Valentines, Beekeeping, Americana, Seaside and Woodland. Each chart has 9 or 10 small designs in it... so if you've been a good stitcher, your bowl of smalls is OVERFLOWING with about 100 of these!

Each set could be stitched on something different - and they all used bits of hand-dyed flosses and such an awesome variety of Lady Dot Trims. So Super Fun, we had a trunk show of them in the shop and delighted in how teeny they were! Our Auto-Ship is finished for the chart set... but you can still see them all gathered together on our Heartstring Samplery Page... collect your 'faves' or all of them!

A pretty shape, gold plated handles over stainless, the blades are about 13/16 of an inch long (slightly over 2cm.) WE had been out of these for some time, and the factory found more. I don't know how long we'll have them, so enjoy them while we can!

6 New Designs for Christmas from Shepherd's Bush
Tina and Teri are sending packages our way... full of Christmas Presents!!!
  • Rejoice, Rejoice - A sweet pin cushion design full of sugarplum lavenders and pretty pinks, and shepherdess angel tends her flock of tiny sheep... all nestled on a hill overlooking the tiny village of Bethlehem. Very pretty, it matches so many of their annual stocking motifs! Finishes approx 4 x 4, complete kit contains 32ct linen, hand-dyed flosses and a teeny star button; Just Another Button Company has a special Pin set to garnish this - a candle, star and roundel, all in coordinating colors - available separately.
  • Merry Notes - This 5 x 6 series continues with Santa in his sleigh flying over a tiny sleeping village... only the little snowman below knows he's there! Look at it... you might even split the design, and make two smaller ornaments out of it... the village as one, and the Santa, holly and words as another! Presented as a chart with 12+ buttons in the official button packet. (We are offering the chart with buttons, to make your life easier!)
  • Have Ewe Any Wool? Another darling pin cushion-sized design, this one comes as a kit of 18ct natural linen, hand-dyed threads and a precious matching-and-very-hand-made clay stocking cap button. All restful grays, white and cranberry reds, this finishes approx 3 x 4. Teri's hand-dyed silk ribbon for the edge treatment is featured in the kit. Your other option is to go the chart with button-only offering, which will be available for a limited time.

  • Oh Tannenbaum - Tina and Teri's annual ornament is here. Finishing 3 x 3 on 32ct Mocha linen, with a smattering of hand-dyed flosses from your stash, there are some buttons that come with this - featured in the holly border - and I speculate that the chenille outside trim (available separately) is Lady Dot's Mossy color. Small Leaflet with buttons.
  • Jolly Santa Tag & Joy To You Tag - OR SLEDS! More small kits that feature a 1 x 1-1/2 inch design that makes a perfect gift tag size piece... or perfect Foxwood Crossing wooden sled ornament! JOLLY looks like a Santa face... he's stitched on a bit of red 14ct perforated paper, and mounted on a bit of striped paper - both of which come in the package. If you like, you can glue the little guy to the top of a bitty sled instead. JOY is the same way... more cute paper and something cute and colorful to stitch. All of Shepherd's Bush's Gift Tags (we have several others for Christmas, Valentines and Halloween farther down the page) come with the chart, both papers, a button, and hanging ribbons or string.

The Double Zippy Pouch
We are in love with this new size of plastic zipper pouch. It measures 9 x 13-1/2 and features two zippered compartments.

The main side fits a standard Cross Stitch leaflet, while the smaller compartment that measures 5 inches high fits the smaller card designs.

Separate spaces for patterns, fabrics, threads or scissors... we think it's a great development!!!!
Smitten from All Through the Night - click for more Smitten from All Through the Night
This little guy is back in stock after we lost track of him for several years! THE CUTEST thing, he is stitched on Weeks Dye Work's hand-dyed Onyx linen in shades of Gentle Art's hand-dyed cotton Sampler Threads.

Finishing a generous 4-1/2 x 7 on 30ct, we've always loved the colors in this. It's another pattern that could go two ways... do just the mitten, or just the snowman, greenery, star and flake!

If the black is too dark for your eyes, consider one of the various deep gunmetal fabrics available now. Lots of other cute designs by Bonnie Sullivan on our inside All Through The Night page!
DMC's Mouline Etoile Floss - click for a larger view Presenting DMC's Mouline Etoile Floss
This is a new thread by DMC... interesting stuff! It is a 73% cotton, 27% Polyamide 6-ply floss. It doesn't LOOK cottony - it looks wooly, and is dreamy-soft! There are little colored flecks throughout the thread that match it's color, but even though it must be the metallic - nothing is stiff or heavy in these.

This can be used where-ever regular DMC 6-strand floss would be used. The 35 colors themselves are pretty bold... not much pastel in here. We have all 35 colors together in a set. (We skipped the big flat collector's tin this time around). Just a real interesting and unusual thread option!

Brush Santas! Scrub Brush Santa from Happy Hollow - click to see more Paint Brush Santa from Happy Hollow - click to see more
We've had these little guys over the years. I'd kind of forgotten about them, till I saw them at a show this Fall. NO Cross Stitch involved... grab your glue gun and CRAFT! Complete kits (wrapped in a pretty red organza drawstring bag) of brush, hat fabrics, noses, eyes, glasses... everything you need to make these darling little Santas. Both measure about 9 inches in overall length when finished.

The 4-inch paint brush guy might need to go to someone who LOVES to paint... or who *should be* painting something... and that little scrub brush guy (might be?) fun for your cleaning lady... or a less-than-productive-in-the-cleaning-dept family member! They are just the cutest things!
Llama Lump, Goodbye Fall & Noah's Ark VI - Plum Street's Newest Releases
Noah's Ark VI from Plum Street Samplers Goodbye Fall from Plum Street Samplers Llama Lump from Plum Street Samplers Paulette is busy dishing up cute things for us to stitch...
  • Llama Lump is her latest pile of animals. I thought WHO cares about Llamas... then I took a stroll through Hobby Lobby this morning and saw a million Llama things!!! Cute, cute, cute, same size as the Hens, snorts, cows, gobbles, and sheep, these actually have a little Holiday flair to them.
  • Goodbye Fall - This companions Paulette's 4-Seasons set of Hellos. I don't think she's going to do 'exit designs' for the rest, this was just sort of a fun transition. You get a turkey in there but a big cardinal too. Finishes 9 x 5 on 36ct.
  • Noah's Christmas Ark VI - This is the final chart in this PLANNED series of 12 ornaments - all fun and different animals we don't usually think about. Paulette says she'll do more to match them, but no specifics on that now. Ravens and Deer this time, these have all been charming!

Gingerbread Mouse Reindeer Stocking from Just Nan - click for more Gingerbread Mouse Reindeer Stocking from Just Nan
Nan's second little stocking design is here. Featured inside is Gingerbread Reindeer Mouse - but actually any of her little mice (all available separately from the stocking) will fit in here! Just 2-1/2 inches tall, this little stocking features a festive reindeer with beaded antlers, a tiny decorated fir tree and a bitty mouse on Rudolph's back watching a lacy snowflake fall. (We know this is Rudolph because he has a burgundy pearl nose!)

Quick to stitch, the stocking is backed with tan felt and trimmed with a snippet of red silk ribbon and rusty jingle bell. Stuff the stocking up to the cuff line, then sit the mouse inside, securing with a pin or two. Worked on 32ct Gingerbread hand-dyed linen by Picture This Plus it calls for DMC and Gingersnap hand-dyed floss. Included in the Reindeer Stocking chart are three colors of beads, pearl nose, felt, silk ribbon, bell and instructions. There is a new Needle Slide featured below that also fits this tiny stocking! What a fun Stitcher Ornament!

Christmas Dragon Ornament from Just Nan - click for more Christmas Dragon Ornament from Just Nan
Nan is introducing a pretty Christmas flower ornament stitched in red DMCs with a touch of gold metallic. Tiny backstitched dragonflies decorate the corners and the center is tufted with a crystal pearl. We had A FEW available that feature a painted dragonfly PIN (NOW SOLD OUT!) (came from a vintage mold that is now broken, so there will be no more made) embellishment in the center, and a few more that feature a smaller dragonfly CHARM.

Nan has hand painted BOTH the pins and charms... so either version is lovely! Stitched on 32ct Raw Belfast, the ornament finishes 2-1/2 inches square. Included with the chart are the pin or charm, pearls for center (on both sides!) and a gold handing ring.

(This is totally a personal entry here on our JA Page!!!) I volunteer for our local Oklahoma Westie Rescue Non-Profit Group in Tulsa. I am the 'Official Calendar Girl' as one of my jobs is to send out the annual calendars.

They're $15 each, and ALL the money goes directly to our rescue group's treasury to pay our boarding and vet bills.

Everyone sends in pics of their babies, and our President organizes the calendar. So... do you have a spare spot somewhere to hang one??? Every month, you get 6 pics of darling doggies that have been rescued through our group, and you get to see how happy they are now!

(Well... lets work on winter first...!) Blackbird's Barb and Alma have a pretty new sampler that Alma adapted from an antique stitched piece. Worked on Picture This Plus's 36ct (we also have 32ct) Oaken hand-dyed linen, this finishes approx 15 x 15. Lots of pretty hand-dyeds - 16 shades - you'll need 2 skeins of Baked Apple, Palomino and Putty so that'll give you an idea of the predominant colors in this.

Lots of florals and urns, Alma added the border along the bottom as it appears to be cut off of the original. Lots of room to add family initials all over in this... it's actually fairly symmetric - look at the pots and vases, they're the same on each side, just different colors. (and the flowers in the right pot aren't there!) Presented as a leaflet.

Lovely bits and designs in here, just a bitty pin cushion of a tiny part of that border on the right would be awesome!!! (as in... you don't really have to stitch this ENTIRE thing to enjoy it!!!)

Fill 'er Up!
from Val's Stuff
What a cute ornament with the BEST advice for Santa on it! Val's Stuff has sent a mini-kit for this 2 x 4 piece that is stitched on perforated paper - so tedious finishing is NOT involved.

Stitch with bits of your DMC, then cut around the edge of your stitching, glue to black felt, garnish with the provided greenery, candy cane pipe cleaner chenille, jingle bell and striped ribbon. All that's left needed is Santa's attention. (You can do this on fabric as an alternative and actually make a mini stocking to stuff if you want.)

Kit contains the chart, paper, felt, greenery, bell, candy canes and ribbon. (I remember when we were little, Dad would pull into the gas station, roll down the window, and announce to the attendant to 'fill 'er up!' We'd always chime in *With Ethyl!*

Adjust Your Sails

Life isn't about waiting for the winds to change... it's about learning to adjust your sails. Measuring 117 x 177 - so it finishes approx 7 x 11 on 32ct - this is stitched with 9 regular solid colors of DMC floss, and one hand-dyed for all the water and waves.

The motifs in here are cute - all the little whales and the perky sailboats - it is stitched on any gray fabric so the whites of the sails will show up. (Not enough stitching time to do the whole thing? I see three different sections in here... maybe adjust your sails and choose just one or two? But how can you decide because they're all neat!)

Christmas Wishes

This is a fun design that measures 53 x 253 in stitch count. (about 3 x 16 on 32ct.) Worked with 16 regular shades of DMC floss, you can split up the different areas of this and do them individually or join the whole piece as shown.

Lots of opportunity to add hand-dyed flosses if you want or some cute clay buttons and what-nots... the chart is super-huge, colored and very easy to read.

  • Part One: 'Long May She Wave' is a pin cushion/pin keep set. 6 x 7 For the cushion, 2 x 2 for the flag keep.
  • Part Two: 'Life, Liberty, Happiness' INCLUDES the 7-inch ALREADY PAINTED paper box along with red pom-pom and white rik-rak trims. It features the inside box top lining design and another pin cushion.
  • Part Three: 'In God We Trust' Includes charts for two more cushions - remember you have that cool box to store them all in! If you are really good... you could finish Long May and In God We Trust back-to-back and the same with The Pledge of Allegiance and Land of the Free.
  • Part Four: America The Beautiful - A framed piece to display near your box of stitched cushions and fob. It measures 91 x 114 - so 6-ish x 7.
So... We are offering all 4 charts WITH the painted box and lid trims. Linen (choose either 1/4 or 1/2 yd) and flosses are available separately.

Hands On Design is continuing her delightful set of pin cushion pairs with I Hear The Bells. Part of her *Short Stack and Flap Jack* collection... each design features a 3 x 4 rectangular pin cushion design and a much longer version of the design that 'wraps around' into a drum shape. There was just *something* about this whole set! Great colors or bold lettering? We just know we really have liked all of them in the series! Charts come with velveteen cuts, but we have also gathered and added the matching chenille trim and pin set for each.

Presenting Just Nan's Gingerbread Elf Mouse and His Little Stocking!!!
Due in the Shop November 5th!
Gingerbread Elf Mouse from Just Nan Just Nan is releasing her annual tiny Gingerbread Mouse... and for the first time, there is an additional chart available to stitch him a cozy little stocking!!!

Gingerbread Elf Mouse has been hard at work helping Santa get ready for the big season ahead. Dressed in candy cane stripes with green holly trim and a red elf collar, he has peppermint cheeks, pointed elf ears, and wears a green glass elf hat. He holds a shiny gold star for the tree.

Chart includes 2 colors of beads, the gold tail, Nan's signature mouse button base, green elf hat and gold star charm. The little guy is stitched on 32ct Picture This Plus hand-dyed linen - just like all of his mouse cousins!
Gingerbread Elf Mouse is on our Just Nan Ornament Auto-Ship. His little Stocking is NOT, so read on... you'll want it, too!

Gingerbread Mouse Elf Stocking from Just Nan Gingerbread Mouse Elf Stocking
Well, if this isn't the cutest thing... I don't know what is! All the Gingerbread Mice asked for a stocking to snuggle inside while hanging on your tree. Here's the first stocking design!!! Measuring just 2-1/2 inches tall, this features peppermint candy, snowflakes, a decorated tree and a little gingerbread elf posing with a candy cane and holding his tiny elf mouse!!! (The little mouse is even wearing a teenier hat!)

Nan says the stocking is quick to stitch and easy to finish. Backed with red felt and trimmed with a snippet of red silk ribbon, both are included with the chart along with a gold jingle bell, 3 colors of beads, and tiny gold flower bead to crown the tree. Stuff the mini-stocking up to the cuff line, then sit your mouse inside. Add a few pins to secure and Stocking-with-Mouse are ready to hang on the tree (by his little mouse tail!) Stitched on 32ct hand-dyed Picture This Plus linen, the design area is 2-1/2 x 2-1/2.

Limited Edition Jeweled Magnets from Accoutrement Designs
Accoutrement Designs has several VERY LIMITED EDITION jeweled magnets -- I am not sure how long they will be available -- so darn cute! Each very heavy-duty metal piece is jeweled and enameled with all the right bright colors to make your favorite little 'personality.' They all measure approx 2 inches in size, and feature a strong rare-earth magnet on their back (works on the fridge) along with another magnet to let you attach it to things that are not magnetic -- like your stitching fabric or your pattern.

Use them as a needle minder, or stick them somewhere fun near your work area. Accoutrements warns that the magnets are super-strong and their fields can damage computer monitors, credit cards... all the normal things these neodymium magnets love to mess with! Very substantial and very FUN!

A gorgeous color palette this year, each of the eight small card designs has been finished into a pin cushion trimmed with Lady Dot's chenille trim and backed with her matching hand-dyed velveteen.

Yummy colors of Ribbon Red, Aged Pewter, Toffee, Currant, Mint Julep and Antique Rose, this is a charming collection of small designs. Push Light Magnifier - click for more Push Light Magnifier - click for more
Push Light Magnifier
Oh this is cool and very handy little thing! This is a LED-lighted personal magnifier. Simply press down on the metal rim, and inside... it lights up... to magnify your viewing field 5 times the size! PERFECT to see needlework stitches, fabric threads, needlepoint stitch details, a stubborn knot... your instructions, a needle's eye, a sliver... ANYTHING you can't see right now! It is designed to sit on top of your project or paper, but you can hold it in your hand as well.

REALLY REALLY NICE! It comes with a very stiff microfibre zip-closure protective carrying case, and a microfibre lens cleaning cloth (because my hubby turned mine off by pressing on the lens instead of the ring and leaving a nice big fingerprint!). It automatically turns off after 10 minutes in case you forgot about it... it's just the most wonderful thing for seeing stitch detail! Weighing less than 8 ounces, it measures 3-1/2 inches in diameter and stands1-3/4 inches tall.

Thanksgiving Sampler from The Victoria Sampler - click for more
Thanksgiving Sampler
from The Victoria Sampler
Victoria Sampler has a new piece that celebrates Thanksgiving. A pair of gorgeous motifs -- the turkey and cornucopia both stitched over one thread -- are stunning. The basket at the top of the piece is nothing to ignore either! *The year has turned it's circle, the seasons come and go. The harvest all is gathered in and chilly north winds blow. Orchards have shared their treasures, the fields their yellow strain. So open wide the doorway Thanksgiving comes again.*

Finishing 4-1/2 x 14 on 28ct Clay linen, this is loaded with specialty stitches all worked with numerous solid and hand-dyed silks and garnished with cream and gold glass beads. They have beautiful stitch diagrams and charts in here, along with some great close-up stitching pics... stitch just a few parts or the entire sampler.

What a fun decoration for a wool applique nut, or a knitter or a spinner. Presented as a line drawing to be transferred onto the provided weaver's cloth, this is punched with a #3 needle using Weeks and DMC flosses. It finishes approx 6-1/4 x 8-1/2 inches. 4 New Cross Stitch charts as well... more fun things to add to your stash! (Remember, please, that the Punch Needle designs are grouped together on the bottom half of her page.)

Santa Claus Lane from Praiseworthy Stitches - click for more Santa Claus Lane from Praiseworthy Stitches - click for more
Santa Claus Lane from Praiseworthy Stitches
Praiseworthy Stitches has done a half-sized Christmas Scene, and finished it into a drum-shape just for fun! Measuring less than half the size of their huge Christmas Scenes, this finishes 14-1/2 x 4-1/2 on 32ct. You can frame it, or roll it into the round shape and make a 4 x 6 giant pin cushion! Stitched with hand-dyed or DMC flosses, it is super-cute! Santa is flying through they sky behind his team of reindeer... so those little ones down below better get home to bed soon!!!! He's on his way!

Presented as the chart, the JABCO button embellishments are offered separately -- HOWEVER -- it is confusing. The button pack contains the snowmen, moon and star for the framed piece as well as the Santa face button you see on top of the drum. THEN, when they sent us the model, they had a set of JABCO Pin Mini's stuck in the top of the drum -- and they are a miniature matching Santa face, peppermint and holly leaf. You'll need the *pins* only if you finish this into the drum shape. For a limited time, we have a few finishing kits that contain their red finishing fabric, cord, finishing buttons and stiffener.

See the colored dot? Push it forward... out comes the wire, on comes the light for easy threading. There is even a tiny slit on the right side with
a recessed blade to cut thread!Needle Beetles - click for more There is a lanyard hole to attach your beetle to something.

Because the threader retracts, it is protected from damage. There are finger grips on that little button and the bottom of the beetle... and the battery lasts for up to 3000 threadings!!!!! Absolutely the cutest things... and super-functional!!! Available in yellow, green or red... because beetles come in all those colors!
NOTE: These little guys are 1/2 an inch thick so have to be postmarked at 'package rate.' We're happy to send you just one Beetle, but suggest you piggy back her with something else to save on shipping costs.

Stage Fright from Threads That Bind -- click to see lots more Joyous Offering from Threads That Bind -- click to see lots more Bee Grateful from Threads That Bind -- click to see lots more
Three New Punch Needle Designs from Threads That Bind
Punch Needle is totally different than Cross Stitch... it produces pieces that look like miniature hooked rugs. We have an in-shop demo gal, but U-Tube can also offer good instruction for this. Designs are printed as line drawing on Weaver's cloth -- a muslin that has synthetic in it for strength. You need a super-tight-holding hoop (which we have) and the special needles (which we also have), and all you do is poke the needle up and down into your fabric to make the bitty loops of thread.

Threads That Bind has tons of charming designs... these are three of her newest! Stage Fright finishes approx 5-1/2 x 5-1/2, Joyous Offering is 5-1/4 x 5-3/4, and Bee Grateful is 6 x 9.

A Visit From St Nick Kits from Mill Hill
Mill Hill is debuting a quartet of designs all stitched on 16ct Aida and garnished with their beads!
Describing each design --
  • The Stockings Were Hung on the chimney with care...
  • as The Children Were Nestled in their beds.
  • A Jolly Old Elf appeared and left gifts for all the good girls and boys.
  • Then as quick as St Nick appeared, he could be seen flying away saying To All a Good Night!
You can follow the favorite poem with each of these! Offered as complete kits of the 16ct Aida and Mill Hill beads, each finishes approx 5-1/2 inches square -- the same size as the regular Mill Hill Button & Bead Kits.
Bohin SN29 Gold Preemie
2-5/8 Preemie Scissors by Bohin
Directly from France, we have these delightful little shiny gold scissors that are a teeny 2-5/8 inch in size. A petite size, these have a fairly sharp point, and I think a very slightly serrated blade. Serration -- that is the texturing on the blades -- like a ripply tomato or steak knife. It holds your thread in place better so when you cut; it's clean. (Your thread hasn't slid on the scissor blade and given you a frayed cut.)

The gold on these looks elegant... they are NOT a 'cheapie looking' pair of scissors!!! Very Nice!

This is an awesome little lamp! Fairly new to the Daylight Company's Line, we have them in stock and really like the features. It's a little table lamp -- weighing LESS THAN 1-1/2 pounds. It folds FLAT -- 1-1/2 inches thick by 13 inches long. It fits in your TOTE BAG! (or between your clothes in your suitcase)

It unfolds into a really nice sized (!) table lamp -- the 12-inch arm tilts, the lens and bulb top tilts AND rotates, and there is a protective cover over the lens. It has three daylight-balanced LED light levels -- meaning it dims -- with the touch of your finger. 6-inch low-profile base, that lens is 3-1/2 inches in diameter with a 5 diopter magnification (most of the lamps on the market are only 3.) You do need electricity to use it... no rechargeable battery system inside. It's clean, it's white, it looks nice, it's SO portable, we are very impressed! Comes in a little box -- 6 x 15 x 2 -- we can Priority Mail this baby for the 2-pound rate!!!
