Tiny Baby Bibs
Matched pieces to our cute little hooded baby towels... these small 'dribble bibs' are charming counterparts to stitch and cherish for years and years to come! The same rich Terry in the same colors, each bib measures approx 9 x 10, and features the same woven aida panel (actually a front pocket of the bib) as the blankets -- only it measures approx 2-1/4 x 8. A snap closure makes them easy to dress baby.
They are NOT lined with plastic, and they are NOT huge... so definitely for a newborn, or 'delicate' bib for a little baby, these are not a 'turbo-everyday-super-duper-red-spagetti-sauce' variety of bib... these are baby shower and 'stitched with Granny's Love' bibs! Very soft and really cute!
Hooded Terry Cloth Baby Towels
Such lovely towels to dry off the tiniest member of the family... this is the kind of thing that you'll never part with! I still have my daughter's baby towel that I stitched 20 years ago... and SHE still loves to see it! (and it's in some of my favorite old pictures, too!)
This is a beautiful collection of 100% Cotton terry cloth hooded towels made by the Dohler Co in Brazil. Available in 4 colors, each towel measures approx 30 x 30 inches, and features a corner pocket with an aida-weave right IN the fabric. You have an area of approx 2 x 10 inches to personalize your towel with baby's name or some cute motifs from something you've treasured in your pattern stash!
Each towel is piped with woven cotton edging, and is so wisper-soft! The colors are just as dreamy! Pink and Blue towels feature white piping. The yellow towel features lime green piping, and the lime green towel has light blue trim. Precious!
Bead-Charm-Button Storage Box
Wow, this is a petite and functional storage system for teeny tiny stuff!!!! Our 6 x 3-1/2 x 1-1/2 inch snapping closure box holds 25 different treats. Clear, so you can see what's inside, open to reveal removable dividers that separate 5 towers of screw-top jars. Each mini-jar is approx 1 inch round and 1/2 an inch high. They screw together -- so the lid on one becomes the bottom of the next.
VERY secure, and also clear so you can see what's inside... these even work for wet creams and lotions in your cosmetic travel bag! Everything is safe, organized, and compact! The little box weighs about 8 ounches.
Faux-Bone Thread Rings
These are very nice, evenly shaped and colored, round 'faux-bone' plastic thread rings to attach to thread boards, scissor fobs, sewing cases - anywhere you want to tie threads.
Rings measure 3/4 of an inch in diameter... we are offering packages of 10 rings; they are a light 'vintage-stained' color, and each ring has 2 holes BESIDES the middle hole so you can actually sew them flat onto something as well.
Wooly Sheep Needle Minders
Oh, we've carried these forever and ever in the shop... they are wooden sheep painted and wrapped with nubby wool yarn... and each has a magnet on his backside so he's a needle minder!
Measuring about 1-1/2 inches long and 1-1/4 inches tall, each sheepie is painted black and wound with either a creamy white or black yarn. They feature rare earth magnets on the back to grab onto your chart board, the refrigerator, your file cabinet... anywhere you want them to cling. Just cute as can be... choose between the white and black!!!
Glass Flower Counting Pins
The Glasshopper has made lovely sets of hand-made Lampwork Glass flowers and leaves - on pins. Poke them into your favorite pin cushions, and dress up sewing cases -- these are too pretty to hide away in a drawer. You'll recognize these from your Blackbird Circle of Friends Kit we sent you -- if you are in our Circle of Friends Club! Each flower or leaf is individually made of molten glass on a metal rod -- being warmed and shaped right in the flames of a blow torch!!!
Glass Acorns and Pumpkins! from The Glasshopper
The Glasshopper -- glass artist Jennifer Rakosnik has made us some tiny glass acorns with metal tops to adorn our sewing cases and pin cushions. Gorgeous little things.... I chose *earthy-acorn* colors of glass that are tucked into an antiqued bronze topper.
Wayne's Book Stand
Our Wood-Guy, Wayne, just lives to invent stuff!!! Here's his latest creation -- a little stand for your pattern, scissors, needles and threads! Made of oak, he's got the whole thing smooth and well balanced, I'd say it weighs about 12 ounces... maybe a pound. Measuring 8 inches long, 4 inches deep and 7 inches high... it has that back bar to hold up your pattern, and an angled slit in the base in which you can perch it.
If you have a small Snippet by Lizzie Kate or similar pattern, that slit will hold it open for you. The pegs are there for you to lasso your scissors over and loop threads. See the little micro-super-magnet embedded in base? That's for needles! Only thing it's missing is a recessed area for those M&Ms!!! (I bet we can get him to add that later on!!!) VERY handy little caddy!!!!!!!!
Dutch Treat Lap Stitching Frames
Doodlin' Around has the coolest lap/table frames, very easy to use and gentle on the tabletop or the clothes on your lap! Offered in three different sizes, you have lots of options. Basically, they consist of two rounded end pieces, 4 round knobs, and sets of dowel rods with fabric belting on them -- ready for you to attach your stitching fabric. (There IS enough room on there to get that belting strip under the presser foot of a sewing machine.) See how it stands? There is nothing encumbering your hands on the back side. Great ergonomic shape, everything about these is smooth and very heavy-duty.
The Lap Stitch Doodler Frames
These are the same idea... but see how the side bars curve opposite those on the other frames? Some people like them one way, some like them the other!!!
Miniature Sampler Needle Minders
These are sweet bits of antique sampler images shrunk down and down and down... and mounted into 1-1/4 inch 'bottle-cap-type' miniature pie plates!!! Really neat, each features a pair of rare earth magnets on the back, so you can stick them to your metal chart board, the fridge (if yours will still do that!) the filing cabinet -- just anywhere magnets like to be. It'll hold your needle at the same time, and simply make you happy!
Lovely images of the samplers -- we have at least 20 different pics on these, so we'll mix up the designs!
Here's a handy little gadget we've sold for years! It's a very powerful magnet mounted onto the end of a telescoping wand. Closed, it's only 5 1/2" long -- the size of an ink pen. When fully extended, it's a fabulous 25 inches long... and perfect for picking up your needles and even scissors when they fall on the floor!!! The extra 2 feet of reach lets you stay in your chair, and lets the surprisingly powerful magnet do the work! Very handy!
Lighted Magnetic Pin Picker-Uppers
Well, this is the ultimate in handy gadgets! We already have telescoping magnets, but this little guy has a LIGHT at the end, so you can SEE underneath dressers, into dark corners, and way into the scary bottom depths of a tote bag! Shortened it is 8-inches long. Pull out to a 33-inch length. There is a switch on that magnetic end to let you turn on the little light (and because it is on a switch, you don't have to hold it wierd to keep it on -- it'll stay on till you turn it off.)
It will pick up my Gingher 8-inch cutting shears -- a VERY heavy-duty little magnet on there... so will definitely grab your scissors and pins. Super-handy to keep in that kitchen drawer... but fabulous to have in your stitching and sewing areas too!
Cute Little Metal Rulers from Reflets de Soie
These are fun little metal rulers that can double a bit as thread holders. When I opened them though, to do my web words, I discovered that they are METRIC rather than INCHES! (Well this makes sense, because Reflets is from FRANCE for Pete's sake!
So... you might like that feature better than inches anyway!!! Something pretty and fun for your stitching bag or a dressing inside a fun sewing case! Choose from Kitty or Filigree -- they are decorated on both sides, as well! Our pics don't show it well, but these are very shiny!
Earrings for Stitchers!
Check out these darling pierced earrings that are perfect for stitchers and seamstresses! Miniature buttons, scissors, spools and sewing machines... each trinket decoration on the earring is about 1/2 an inch in size!
Offered in gold-tone or silver-tone (based on the price I am sure they are not solid gold or sterling), one set includes two spools and two sewing machines. The other set includes the buttons and two scissors. You can mix and match them however you want... both sets come in the silver or gold colors. Wear a button and sewing machine if you want... scissors and buttons, scissors and spools... whatever... I'm sure Santa needs to know about these!
Round Tool Towers By Greg's Turn
Kind of like a Scissor Block -- only round! We have a new gadget that is designed to carefully hold your scissors, some needles, maybe a laying tool or seam ripper, and even a small ruler or chart. Wayne-The-Wood-Guy has a son, Greg. This is by *Greg's Turn.* It's Greg's turn to turn wood into cool gadgets for us like Wayne has for years!
This little guy measures approx 2-1/4 inches in diameter and stands 3-1/4 inches high. It features a felted bottom and 4 compartments, Two that are lined with felt in the bottoms that are about 2-1/4 inches deep. Store your scissors or rippers or laying tools in those holes. The bottom is soft and padded so tips are protected. The third, smaller hole has a magnet in the bottom -- that's for needles. The magnet keeps them in place in case your tower tips over. It is about 1-3/4 inches deep.
The slit is there for a small ruler or chart -- it is 3/4 of an inch deep. (I was absolutely NOT going to tell you that my mind sees a little face here! I see two eyes, a little nose and a mouth! But the little mouth is crooked because Greg has to make the slit in the direction of the wood grains so that they don't split! So I have all these little people looking at me, and they are so cute! Isn't that dumb?!) So, you have this little friend... all of them are different colors because they are made of different woods, and their little mouths are just every-which-way... and they are so FUNCTIONAL and HANDY! I wonder what they are saying....
Something Fun for a Sewing Case! Wooden What-Nots!
We have a lots of trinkets I fell in love with when I saw them. Use them for Stitching Party favors, package ties, something functional in your stitching bag... something cute to display in a sewing case, or in the case of the acorn -- teathered to a pin cushion displaying left-over threads from a special piece you've just finished!
3-Inch Corner Boards - Aren't these just the prettiest little pieces of wood? Retromantics has sent us charming 3 x 3 inch Corner Boards to help you measure that infamous *in three and down three to begin.* demand. You plop it on the corner of your fabric, and look to the lower right. The first hole puts you at in two and over two. The very bottom corner is 3 and 3. Truthfully, if you stitch much, you can pretty much gauge your 3-inch starting point. This piece is at its best when you tuck it into a pretty sewing case, or include it in a framed needle work tool shadow box. Retromantics has *Blue-Washed* the Bird Cage board, which accents the beautiful Victorian birdcage floral design they have lazored into the wood. Very pretty!
Miniature Vintage Pincushion
from Sudberry House
I've been seeing this little guy for some time, and finally ordered some for the shop. What a pleasant surprise they are! Sudberry House delivers a 2-3/4 x 4 x 1-3/4 inch box (it kind of reminds us of a tiny manger) with a design area on top of 2-1/4 x 3-1/2! Almost an inch deep inside, you can finish the top -- and still have a tiny storage area underneath the pin cushion lid.
I don't know what we'll put into ours yet -- probably a small Blackbird design... doesn't matter... this is just the cutest little thing! Look around for something small to stitch, the box/tray/(manger!) comes with the padded piece to mount needlework.
Miniature Scissor Blocks
OHhhh... we have the cutest miniature scissor blocks! Made from assorted woods, these little 1-1/2 x 2 x 2-3/4 chunks feature a slanted top, complete with ruler slot. Along with that slot, notice the larger hole near the top? That holds a pair of 3-1/2 to 4-inch embroidery scissors. Then, notice the two smaller holes? They store needles. Each of them as a tiny magnet in their bottom -- just enough to make your needles *cling* so if the block get knocked over, no needles errantly spill to the floor.
Not big, not heavy, just functional and cute! The slit can hold a small pattern, or one of our rulers or paddles that double as thread organizers. If you order multiples, we'll try to mix up your woods, but try to match ruler and organizer woods to blocks. All of these are just the coolest things!
4-Inch Wooden Ruler Thread Organizer
*Needlework soothes the soul and inspires the mind* is the advice offered on one side of these 4-inch thread organizers... while *The Silver Needle* is the other advice for good living on the other side! Measuring 1-1/2 inches x 4-1/2... your calibrated ruler includes 5 holes to loop threads for works in progress.
It slips into the slot of our miniature scissor block, so even if you have no threads looped on it, the ruler is still there... and it's stored neatly in your block. Pretty Handy!
Thread Keeps from The Primitive Hare
These measure 4 x 5-1/4 and are about 1/4 of an inch thick.
Vintage-inspired designs I think they are carefully decopaged onto the wood. They look nice, and they're smooth.
