Our first Just Nan Page is HUGE... thanks for waiting for this large page to load... we trust it's worth a tiny wait.

|
Enjoy some of the recent Just Nan designs. Nan worked in our shop for 7 years.... when she *was* just Nan! We have joyfully watched her business develop... and will always have a special place in our hearts for her and her designs. Lots of linen, silks, and embellishments... her samplers are always beautiful. Her "Shenanigans" line is fun to stitch because of the larger count linens and Rainbow Gallery specialty threads. Have fun looking through these! |

Scream House, Our Exclusive Limited Edition Needlework Etui Coming in Late August!Nan's very own words of warning... 'Deep in the shadows of Happy Hag Hollow, just as the leaves begin to fall and frost nips at the pumpkins... the Scream House comes alive! Ghosts float out the Halloween decorations, jack-o-lanterns try out their goofy grimaces, and the monsters and ghouls practice scaring each other. Hisses and moans, shrieks and groans fill the night air. Crows, bats, cats and spiders gather to watch the antics while the resident witch, Netty Nightshade, oversees it from her lovely purple rooms... Stitch it (if you dare) using the *bright and poisonous* colors of Halloween. Assemble it with care, stash your scissors, needles and pins inside, then crown the roof spires with a bat-crossed Halloween moon!!!'

Oh, where should I begin describing this delightful creation... everywhere
I look there is something fun and colorful going on! Simply the COOLEST
stitching box... you'll fall in love with it! Nan's leaflet cover is
stunning... click this PDF to get the color print of all her pics... you'll
love what flies out of your printer!!!
I'm not going to describe all the wonderful foolishness taking place on each panel... Nan's memoirs will tell all, and I don't want to give it all away ahead of time. I will tell you, though, that one of my personally favorite parts is the backyard scene. Nan tells us that Netty's ancestor, Ida Mae Gone is buried beneath the tree. Well... the gravestone reads 'I M GONE!' And,
did you see Netty's little broom parked outside the front door? And did
you notice the spiderweb curtains??? Our pics show all the sides of
Scream House, and you can see how it opens. My hands are there to give you
some scale.

THE BASICS: Each side is stitched individually (piece layout diagrams
provided), and mounted around a stiff board. The roof pieces are joined to
the walls, then all are attached to the base. The removable 2 x 2-1/2 inch
pumpkin pin cushion is made, then snapped into place. (you'll have a great pattern to re-use to make more of these!!!) The wool hat needle page is
blanket stitched in place, and the green scissor sheath (matches the
pumpkin stems!) can be made to *fit* scissors (see notes further on) you
may want Boolah and Foolah to hold for you. The house is held closed by
the wire roof spires cinched into the Visions Charm, and a bit of twisted
cord.
We are showing Scream House with our SN10A Dovo Black Teflon finish
scissors that Nan fit into her stitched model. Other scissor options would be the Dovo Preemies 21B, or the regular Preemies SN33A. The Autumn Lustre (SN38A) would be lovely. You might be OK with the purple SN41A, as they are 3-1/2 -- the recommended size. Other scissors that will NOT work are the Kelmscott Putford (SN55) style, because they are as wide as the house, the Uncommon Witch pair -- way too big. (just an FYI.)
You'll notice the black pins in the pumpkins. Those are really cool
Victorian Mourning Pins!!! When a woman was in mourning, she couldn't wear or display anything bright or flashy -- even shiny pins keeping her clothing together!!! The package reads that these are 'Fine French Black Mourning Pins. Nonreflective, discreet and utilitarian.' Well... they are PERFECT in Netty's furniture!!! They, along with the scissors are NOT included in your Scream House kit, but we do have them -- box of 150 pins for $6.50.
Each Scream House kit contains Nan's color leaflet, the 12-page stitch
guide with all 18 charts, 2 linen layouts, and 2 assembly guides. Remember: we have a printable PDF of that leaflet cover, because the pictures are so *awesome* on there!!! 4 Black cloth-covered wires, custom Vision Moon charm, striped pumpkin beads, needle, Just Nan Spider Bead (he's on the roof -- I guess Netty doesn't believe in exterminators!!!), and a floss listing. Stitched in DMC and Weeks hand-dyeds, we are including 3 skeins of DMC black floss (you'll need almost that much between the stitching and finishing, and we wanted your dye lots to match), and 1 ball of #12 black Perle Cotton. Also... you will receive 2 cuts 13 x 18-ish each of Weeks Tin Roof and Peoria Purple Linen, and Nan's 'Behind the Scenes' memoirs!

Complete finishing instructions, with the hand-dyed wools, actual sized templates, and all materials needed for box construction are complimented with Pam's wonderful step-by-step photographs of the original Scream House IN assembly!!! NOT included are scissors to store in Scream House, the black mourning pins, or the 5 Weeks flosses and DMCs other than the black. Needed Weeks colors are: 1268 Molasses, 1291 Basil, 1303 Charcoal, 1311 Taffeta, and
2268 Fire.
So... this sounds like the PERFECT Halloween Hideaway! The Real Estate
Listing doesn't quote square footage or age of property, but we know the
house has mature trees. There does seem to be spider and bat infestation
issues, but structurally, it is quite sound. Interior colors are trendy,
not a lot of clutter, and resident Netty Nightshade is obviously a tidy
occupant, given her carefully parked broom, her careful attention to the
Scream House's Holiday Decor, and her 'designer dress' done by Just Nan!
*** And yet, again, as I find myself sitting at my desk, writing these descriptions to you... I am overwhelmed by the talents of Pam and Nan! WHO dreams this stuff up??? WHO conveys to a finisher 800 miles away *exactly* what it needs to look like? And WHO stood and laughed with me
last Fall at a show when we started imagining all of this??? My friend Nan! Thank-You!

10 left! The reservations have shipped, Last Call!!! Gilded Dragonfly
Just Nan is releasing a Limited Edition Scissor Purse and Fob design... that I understand is almost already sold out to her participating stitch shops!!! The Silver Needle happens to be one of the lucky few to offer you this lovely design!!! (Shipping to us approx June 25th, Nan has just released these wonderful sneak peak photos to us!)
Replacing Nan's original Dragonfly Scissor Purse design, this little gem features a lovely dragonfly embellishment on the front that measures approx 1-1/2 inches in size! Surrounded by pretty pink, lavender, aqua and green silks, it's decorated with beads, pearls and Swarovski crystal embellishments. Stitched in Au Ver A Soie silk, (no DMC conversions supplied) the highlighted thread is Gilt Slyke Twist -- a gorgeous thread made of a silk base with the thinnest of gold wires twisted around that silk. The Gilt Twist is currently being produced for a special museum project, no stitcher has been able to use it since the time of Elizabeth I, so its *pretty special stuff!!!* The little purse finishes approx 4-1/2 x 2-1/2, the matching fob just 1-1/2 inches square. Nan is providing the charted leaflet, all necessary embellishments, overdyed wool (needlepages), Silk braids, snaps and interfacing (the technical stuff!), and complete finishing instructions from our very own Pam Hoops of Pamela's Final Touch! The silks are also offered in a set for this piece, including the metallic cord for finishing... so it's a 'turn-key' thing! (No exact measures yet on the fabric, so it shows as a zero-cost item in the cart until we know.) We took reservations for late June shipment. NO additional shipments later on... this is IT! When they're gone, they're gone! Just Charming!

Designed as a companion piece to Nan's retired Lady Scarlet Ladybug enameled box, Bella is a jeweled bumble bee box coated with yellow, opalescent and soft green glass. She opens to reveal a place to store your tiny stitched needle roll (really a tiny little rolled up piece of stitching!), along with a pearl lily flower button and small bee charm.Just precious... you'll fall in love with her, too! She measures a petite 3 x 3-ish and feels very heavy
in your hand. Bella's little kit contains the enameled box, graphs and instructions, finishing instructions, opalescent white Belfast linen, fusible interfacing, White Pistachio overdyed silk, Weeks Meadow Green hand-dyed wool (leaf underneath the pearl flower), snap (for the rolled stitching), the pearl button, sequins and beads, and the tiny bee charm. |
When Barnabee Met Bella BiscornuBarnabee met Bella on his quest to find the sweetest flower, and here is the meeting. A delightful two-sided design... Nan has presented it in a biscornu shape... two squares that are sewn together, tufted in the
center... so you have charming designs on both the top and bottom! Stitched on Weeks 30ct hand-dyed linen, Barnabee's side is stitched on the Lilac, and Bella's garden is stitched on the Morris Blue. There are lots of specialty stitches, pretty embellishments and charming details on each side... and of course... if you are not a pin-cushion-type of person... you can always frame these! So pretty, this is presented in a leaflet with embellishment pack and the silks (charted for either DMC or silks) are offered separately. Releases when Bella arrives -- in mid March, 2008.

I remember where I was, what was happening all sorts of things! Nan's newest band sampler, Memories is stitched on 28ct Silvery Moon Cashel Linen in 17 silk shades of pinks, corals, lavender, greens and blues -- a very springtime-feeling palette of color! Announcing... Christmas Workshop!!! We are so excited to bring to you a most delightfully creative needlework
box, straight from Just Nan's imagination to your stitching
nest!!! Christmas Workshop is a 3-3/4 inch pyramid, decorated with your
stitches on all 10 sides, that opens to reveal your workshop of needlework
tools!
Secured with an antiqued filigree dome, each side of the box, stitched on
28ct Natural Graziano Linen, features Santa's elves and Holiday
Greenery. Box bottom is stitched on 28ct Graziano Burgundy/Natural
Gingham Linen, and decorated a bit. This is the perfect place to sign and
date your heirloom piece.... and if you're a really good friend -- the
dedication to another really good friend!!! Lift the dome, and your box floats open (11-1/2 inches point to point) to showcase a gingham base of
snowflakes and bits of beads.
Each of the pyramid's points features a tool essential to your workshop.
The Weeks hand-dyed wool tree-shaped points -- garnished with the gold snowflake topper -- conceal your needles.
Next, the oval pocket -- see the scissor charm -- can hold a fun little circular Clover brand thread cutter.
The pocket that features the Just Nan peacock charm holds a needle threader. (Do you have a Clover that matches the cutter???)
The final pocket -- garnished with a gold beehive -- stores a very special piece of beeswax in the shape of a star. A thread waxer, it
is designed to strengthen and smooth your stitching threads. (Unbelievably, this little wax star will not melt in the heat and will not get 'tacky' and attract dust.) It will stay as beautiful in your workshop for years to come, as it is the day you open your package for the first time. Then... extra enchanting... is the exquisite little stuffed wool pin cushion resting in the center of your workshop box... just like the tree standing in the middle of the town square! This tiny, hand-dyed wool tree stands 2-1/2 inches tall, and is decorated with your stitches of gold beads.
As I sit at my desk writing these descriptive words to you... I'm holding
this little box... opening and closing it... turning it around... adjusting
the silk ribbons... looking at the little wax star... simply enchanted! I
am awed at the creative talents of Nan, to simply 'dream up' this whole
thing in the first place. Then, convey to Pam her concepts, and
together... bring it all to completion!
Nan designed Christmas Workshop just for The Silver Needle. During the
early design stages, we didn't have just the perfect size scissor to fit
it... but do now... so along with box prices, I'll include those
details.
Christmas Workshop is offered as almost the complete kit! (you just add floss!) Included are all of Nan's charts and stitch diagrams (yes, there are a few special stitches scattered throughout), the filigree topper, beads, snowflake, scissor, peacock and beehive charms, gold beads, and specially-made beeswax star (from Cynthia at Sheepish Designs). Die-cut boards are here -- to insure that all fits perfectly and properly. (Each side of the box is stitched and constructed independently, then sewn to the base.) All the linens are here -- both the 1/6 cut of Natural and the Burgundy gingham. Placement diagrams are included so you know where to position each piece on your fabrics.

Pamela's Final Touch has contributed the complete finishing kit with ribbons, wool for the pockets and tree, instructions and pics of the entire finishing process... there's even a ball of #12 perle in here for the decorative edging on all the sides. Nan and Pam have been coordinating this for almost a year, so that everything matches, fits, coordinates, is included and PERFECT...(because if you know either of them... only PERFECT will do!)
You will need to add some DMC flosses from your stash. The box does use quite a bit of 6 different colors of Weeks overdyed flosses. I chose not to include them in the kit, because you may already have them. Available separately are Weeks Mocha, Cocoa, Straw, Collards, Juniper and Hunter. All of my additional options listed below are *just that* -- optional. Your little box will be perfect, but as any workshop will tell you... it always could use a few more tools!!!
So... after all these words... I present to you... a simply charming
Christmas Workshop that is a tribute to your love of needlework!

Ghoulies & GhostiesShipping to us the 4th week of August, we expect a great new release of Nan's Halloween and Christmas designs! Ghoulies and Ghosties is a
colorful piece... kind of a spindly 'tree' of Halloween silliness... it's
full of bright oranges, yellows, slime green, black, white and purple. All
of Nan's favorite creatures are in this one, the little swirly ghosts, the
HUGE spider, the funky witch, it's just darling. We're planning on
finishing our shop model into a Tall Triangle Stand-up, with a big, lavish
topper. Ghoulies and Ghosties looks to finish approx 5 x 9, and is
stitched on 28ct Country French Cappuccino Linen in DMC's or an awesome
selection of silks! Taking reservations, we expect our shipment to arrive
the 23rd or 24th... so will ship reserved items that day to you!
|
2007 Christmas BiscornuThis is an exquisite ornament design finished into a little 'tuffet-like' cushion! The particular shape of this piece is called a Biscornu -- pronounced 'bis-cor-new' -- and is becoming quite the needlework rage! We started to notice this delightful shape last year, and even made one at last Fall's Camp Wannasew weekend. (They finish easily in about an hour.) Nan has designed a lovely piece... trees on one side and snowflakes on the other... and then added a Whimzi Hanger... and we're treated to an exquisite ornament! No hanger... and it can be a pin cushion. Offered as a leaflet, with accompanying embellishment pack, your Biscornu is stitched in silks and metallics and garnished with beads, glass flowers, crystal buttons, and finishes to a 3-4 inch size. The embellishment pack includes the optional ring to attach to the piece, and hangers are offered
separately. So, so pretty and unique!
|
Christmas RibbonsNan's 2007 Christmas Band Sampler, is stitched in Weeks overdyed flosses,
bits of #4 metallic Braid, and #8 Perle Cottons. The satin-y flowers, the
lacy trees, all is garnished with lots of tiny gold beads. I don't know
the design size yet, or any stitch details... so all we have at the moment
is this tiny teaser pic! Very Classic Nan... something elegant to dress your home for the Holidays! Offered as the leaflet with embellishments, this is stitched on 28ct Light Mocha Cashel Linen.
|
Copper Purple Glitter Spider FrameAnother cute Whimzi Frame option -- Nan has something like 30 different options of Whimzi Frame colors and finishes... we can't show them all here, but wanted to make you aware of the newest one! The best looking spider I've seen yet! Fits all the JN Halloween Whimzi patterns.
|
Pearl AngelA tiny little design that fits into a round frame of pearls, she's stitched on 28ct Natural/Opalescent Cashel Linen -- so sparkly, yet subtle -- she's delicate and festive! If I remember correctly, the entire frame measures a bit under 4 inches in diameter. Pearl Angel is offered as the chart with pearl and bead embellishments included, her frame is offered separately.
|
Queen's Bluebird Box
Nan has treated us to a very special project -- a tiny, triangular Ort Box, that features the patterns, colors and a new verse in her Queen of the Needle series of designs! This little box is simply indescribable... but I'm going to try! 'The Queen of the Needle plants many fine stitches, which grow into flowers however she wishes.' Decorating the 10 sides of the box are Nan's lovely stitched flowers, rabbits, birds, bees, ladybugs... so many tiny little critters and treasures! All of it is stitched on 32ct Flax Linen, in silk threads of cheerful pinks, mauves, buttermilk yellows, soft greens, blues and lavenders, and the bluebird pincushion perched on top is hand-made of overdyed wool felt! Nestled in her flower bed, her wings are decorated with white pearl beads, and she is holding a pink glass bell flower in her beak! Stitches on top and three sides, verse hidden on the bottom, bird cushion on the top, floral fabric lining throughout... this is so charming! And, there's more! The pattern contains all Nan's color pics, charts, stitch instructions and diagrams, pre-cut chipboard templates for the 3 x 3 x 3-ish triangular box (so yours will be perfectly shaped), glass seed beads and bell flower, and the gold flower button closure (which I happen to know is the same, exquisite clasp keeping your Silver Needle's 20 Flowers Scissor Case closed, too!) THEN.. you even get the COMPLETE finishing kit by Pamela's Final Touch in here!!! Pam's part includes the floral lining fabric, fleece, interfacings, clear elastic for closure loop, overdyed wool for the bird, satin ribbons, (there is a place for scissors and whatnots in here... ribbons tie them in place) and all the photos you need to finish the box and bluebird. (If you are unfamiliar with Pam's finishing kits... check them out on her page... you'll see what excellent quality they are!)
We have a silk thread package available to stitch this as well... all the
correct colors and weights... so everything will turn out perfectly!
Remember our exclusive Queen of the Needle Sewing Case that Nan taught for
us last year? This matches that, as well as The Queen of the Needle
Sampler and Nan's Queen's Heart piece. Does it look slightly familiar??? Wonder where she got that cool shape??? Queen's Bluebird is a companion to OUR Trick or Treat Halloween Ort Box Nan designed us last year!!!! So... this little confection is especially special to The Silver Needle!
An exclusive design, available only to the shops that attended our summer
wholesale trade show this summer, there have been only 945 Queen's
Bluebird Boxes produced... so our little bluebird won't be in her nest for
very long!!! Just lovely, so creative, Nan's designing talents and love of
stitching bloom on every side of this precious box!
|
Bellemeade
Just Nan's third breathtaking seasonal manor house sampler has also arrived. I would be thrilled to live at Bellemeade, Winterhaven or Silkwood Manor... but I'm not so sure I could afford the mortgage!!! Straight from Nan's creative imagination comes this exquisite study in brilliant, rich summer color, gardens full of ripe strawberries and graceful wildflowers, morning glories and ladybugs, running rabbits and a swan swimming in the pond, and stitch after special stitch!!!
A commanding piece, Bellemeade finishes approx 9-1/2 x 13 on 30ct Cameo Shell Legacy Linen. Stitched in an incredible assortment of silks and some pretty wools, the thread assortment includes enough to stitch the tiny 3 x 3 matching needle case piece, as well. (It features that pretty swan in the pond!)
Lovely borders and motifs, the verse reads While summer days are long and sweet, with blossoms ever new, I'll show to others of my time, what clever hands can do. Offered as the chart with overdyed silk, beads and gold butterfly charm; silks and linen offered separately. I just love this!!!
|
Queen's HeartA companion to Queen of the Needle's Sewing Case and Sampler... Nan has brought us a small heart-shaped medley of roses, stitched on the same 28ct Rose Milan Graziano Linen as her first two pieces in this unique set. This design measures slightly smaller than 3 x 3. It is stitched in DMC flosses (or silks left over from your first two Queen pieces!) and features a tiny crown embellishment! Cute without the frame... you'll probably want a heart-shaped mat cut for it.
|
Making FriendsJust like Frightful... this is a tiny collection of tiny pieces... they go together... but individually... they fit perfectly into their own little Just Nan Whimzi Frames!!! Are you watching that little snowman making another??? Each square of the main design tells a part of the Making Friends story! Garnished with a central snowflake embellishment, it's a challenge to see where the stitches stop and the embellishment begins! Notice the little 'take-out' design pictured on the leaflet cover? That Whimzi frame features a frosty, deep blue enamel color (#930 DMC), with a cool 3-D snowman charm attached. Perfect for any of the 4 smaller designs... you could use this little frame for Snowfaces or
Snowbonnets!
|
Pansies PleaseAll you Pansy-Lovers... this is for YOU! A lovely study in florals... stitch 4 flowers in crosses, two more in satins, and two more that are very stylized cross stitch versions. Featuring Nan's Vision charm as the central embellishment... there are lots of tiny beads -- (the square shape that picks up the light so much more effectively than the seed shape) -- this features lots of specialty stitches, as well. Finishing approx 4 x 4 on 28ct, the tiny Whimzi accessory design at the lower left measures only 2 x 2. The Pansy Whimzi frame is elegant! It's enameled with a rich brilliant lavender/purple, and features a matching hand-painted pansy
flower charm. VERY pretty... skip the stitching, (if you must!) and get the
frame for a favorite pic!
|
Daffodil Run A precious bunny-run-around scene... these Spring Runners are racing through the blooming daffodils... chasing, chasing, chasing... (or being chased by my little dogs!!!) Stitched on 32ct Flax Belfast linen in regular DMC flosses, the tiny pic measures just 2-3/4 inches square. The intricate daffodil bouquet charm in the center is a lovely miniature 5/8-inch hand-painted creation that features three yellow flowers -- so detailed! I just love the colors, very "Springy!' Daffodil Run is pictured inside a very heavy, yet delicately filigreed pewter frame. Scattered with tiny enameled flowers on the front, the back of the frame has a small easel stand-up... and it all looks perfectly wonderful here, at home, on my desk!!!
|
Queen of the NeedleThis is Nan's Sampler that matches the exquisite Queen of the Needle Sewing Case she designed and taught for The Silver Needle last summer, as part of her 15th Anniversary and Homecoming Visit back to SN! Our Queen of the Needle Needlecase is long retired, however this Queen Sampler (yes, there are going to be more pieces in this set!) features the same color palette, lots of the same charming bird and floral motifs, the same beginning verse, along with a new second verse to the Queen of the Needle Story! Luscious silk in pinks and roses, lavenders, blues, and greens, the stitches are lovely and so are the filigrees, bunnies, and other tiny details tucked in here! In my little kingdom of stitches that cross, I am Queen of the Needle and boss of the floss! Bluebirds and bouquets obey all your wishes, when you rule all the colors and command all the stitches. Stitched on 28ct Graziano Light Rose
linen, it finishes approx 6 x 14. Sooo pretty! We're taking reservations now for shipment the day they arrive!
|
Scream GirlsOK... WAY cute! Another of Nan's cute little Halloween Whimzi designs... this one complements her Crow Jackers, Moon Riders, and the four small designs that make up Frightful! (Did you know that each of those fits a Whimzi Frame?) And... if you came to the Hershey, PA Stitching Festival last year... you have a special edition -- never released JN exclusive -- Be Witchy -- and I think another retired regular Whimzi, as well, which is in my stash somewhere!)
Anyhow, Scream Girls is offered as the chart, and is stitched in DMC on 28ct Natural Linen. It's shown in a slime-lime enameled Whimzi frame, complete with white ghost with obnoxious hair! Very cute, when you begin to finish all of these, you can have a darling Halloween tree of Whimzis!
|
Snow BonnetsOh, this is a DARLING companion to Snow Faces -- it's the girl version!!! Offered as a small chart pack, stitch the four snow ladies and tuck them into one of Nan's Whimzi Frames! She's chosen a pearl white enameled frame with a glistening snowflake decoration. Cute, bright winter colors, this is a 'quick stitch' and will be cute displayed with 'the boys!'
|
Crystal RosesWow... a stunning lacy, crystal snowflake-inspired design... this is full of 5 different weights of luscious silks and metallics! Stitched on 32ct Flax Belfast it finishes approx 7 x
7. Full of pretty stitches, I really like the 'thin' lines, all the gentle curves, it's so lightweight! Offered as the leaflet with embellishments, we have a silk package available separately!
|
Royal Blossoms from Just NanAn Official 'Re-Make' of a 1995 freebie chart, this is a sweet study in lavenders, greens and cream! An exquisite bee is tending her blooms! Stitched on 28ct Raw Linen woven with opalescent
threads, its stitched in DMC flosses, and embellished with Mill Hill petite seed beads and the bee. Cute and quick, Royal Blossoms is a free chart together with linen and bee. The limited edition frame is offered separately!
|
Autumn in the Square
Wow... Nan's fourth and final Season in the Square is here, and it's luscious! (We'd had our hands on the model when she was here for Queen of the Needle, and I wished we could have just hung onto it...!)
Anyway, pretty Autumn colors in the pumpkins and vines that surround the little Falling Leaves Vision charm in the center of the garden, this finishes approx 6 x 6. Delicate, just like the other three, there are 8 squirrels in here, along with apple trees and grapes!
|
Ginger Joy
This is PRECIOUS!!! Nan's whimsical nature is showing in this delightful
piece... I love the gingerbread boy, the angel, and lacy old-worlde
Christmas tree. Stitched with regular flosses, it does call for a bit of
#4 antique gold metallic braid that adds touches of elegance.
Ginger Joy is packaged with Forest Berries embellishments, overdyed silks, red Swarovski sequins, gold star, and rose gold beads. Very different, very pretty! Very Nan!
|
Another Girls Night Out
Nan has re-done one of her favorite Red Hat Stitcher designs into a Black
Hat version!!! Her description tells us that the 'Girls' Hazel, Hilda, and
Hortense are accompanied by the Ghostly Pair of Boo and Hoo, along with
assorted and sundry spiders, toads and crows.
The girls have 'over one' icky green faces and really cool purple and orange metallic hair! Sounds perfect to me!!! Offered as the chart, you'll need the wacky metallic #4 Braid for their hair. Too Cute!
|
12 Days of Christmas Whimzis
Wow, Nan's newest releases have arrived today, and they're all just wonderful! Offered in a leaflet, 12 Days is a set of ornaments that follow the verses of the 12 Days of Christmas Song.
Stitch them together as one piece, or make a set or two of charming tree ornaments -- either way they're full of charm and color.
Each 'number' is shown on 32ct linen and finished into one of Just Nan's Whimzi Frames. Lots of pretty, rich color, you can stitch all in either DMC flosses or all the wonderful silks and metallics they call for. (The complete set, with 30+ silks and two metallics, looks to me like you could stitch multiple sets of ornaments!)
You'll need a 'fat-quarter' of Flax Linen for the set, and we have all the delightfully unique Whimzi Frames available as well -- individually (I've described those farther on -- so you can choose just your favorites), or in the set of 12. (I told Nan that the cover on 12 Days was SO beautifully done, that you could forget the stitching and just cut out the cover pics and frame those!!!)
|
|
 Whimzi Frames
Wow... there are NINE new Whimzi Frames to treat you!!! Nan has created three enameled finishes on her gold Whimzi Frames... added some darling clay embellishments. (Notice that cute little dove? He appears on our Noah Reborn Sampler!!!) and introduced a new Bronze finish perfect for Halloween pieces!
Your frame choices are now getting complicated, because there is such a great variety! The red, green and purple enamel colors complement your needlework so beautifully, and then check out the cute clay pieces on some! Each
Whimzi frame comes with on Organza gift/storage drawstring bag, and
mounting instructions, and each is the perfect size to fit into Nan's
Whimzi Show Off Frame, too!
|
Ariel
Just Nan has released her 15th angel... and this time... we have a border that surrounds Ariel, and all of her predecessors! Offered as a leaflet, Ariel is the same petite and delicate angel Nan has always designed for us.
Her border is universal to the rest of the angels, and the leaflet supplies color conversions for highlights in that border, so it will compliment the angel of your choice!!! Ariel is also another angel option for the center of Nan's Angel Stocking design!
|

Mermaid Heart
A full-sized leaflet featuring a geometric confection of colors and
stitches... mermaids and sea horses are the main theme! The embellishments
include an intricate painted mermaid charm, pearls and 4 silver sea horses
along with beads and crystals! Stitch the main piece or simply the inner heart motif.
Our silk package has arrived for this piece... absolutely STUNNING in
color...between the crisp aqua, bright raspberry, lavenders, ice blues and
a lip-puckering deep apple green is tucked a metallic that is a mixture of
all of them! We laugh in the shop -- forget the stitching -- just get the
silks to touch, and revel in the COLOR!
The smaller piece is featured inside a silver Whimzi Frame... decorated with a sea horse! (He's matte silver that has been antiqued white, and then glazed with iridescence.) If you want to stitch the smaller heart motif, but need it to look a bit on the spectacular side... get a Whimzi Show-off Frame, and the blue suede mat to switch out from the black, which comes with the frame. (Nan mentions that the blue mat looks great on the little Snowfaces, too!) Lots of options with this main pattern!

Noah's Sampler Reborn A Just Nan Exclusive Design... Just for The Silver Needle!!!
Way back in the Olden Cross Stitch Days of 1991, I needed a design for that Spring's Camp Wannasew. Nan worked in the shop two days a week... we worked together Mondays and Thursdays. Monday was 'dream-it-up-day'... and I was going to go home and 'produce' this masterpiece that week. It was going to be a Noah's Ark Sampler -- I had the verse, I knew what colors I wanted, I knew the stitches...
Thursday arrived, we worked together... and Nan (casually, yet with a *slight* touch of urgency) asked how that little Noah piece was coming along. (Nan doesn't let grass grow underneath her feet as fast as I do...) and it hadn't even begun to rain on Noah yet... so there was no Ark, no sampler, no NOTHING! Two weeks later... JN001 was born! A charming Noah's Sampler that was really quite a special thing. It was never published under the Just Nan name -- because at this time, Nan *WAS JUST* Nan!
Nan's spanking new cross-stitch software wasn't able to delete the JN001 from her database...(remember, this was back in ANCIENT TIMES) so when Just Nan was born... it began with JN002. JN001 has remained retired and the original, stitched and framed model has been lovingly displayed on my office wall at home since 1991.
In Celebration of Just Nan's 15th year in business... she has re-created our little Noah sampler... (I cried a little when she sent the images of the sampler!) Stitched on 28ct Antique Ivory Cashel Linen in 25 shades of Gentle Art Sampler Threads... our sampler measures a serious 4 x 12. It begins with the rainbow at the top... then the original verse of mine... much better and cuter animals... that cheerful ark... and lots of stitches, colors, and now... a handmade clay dove button embellishment. (They weren't doing overdyeds in 1991, much less polymer clay buttons... so this has been really fun for Nan to re-visit!)
Details in a nutshell...
Limited Edition, Offered as the complete kit of the official JN001 Noah's Sampler chart, pre-tied palette of labeled Sampler Threads (thank Mary Anne for all those little tied-on threads of matching dye lots... so you won't run out!), dove button, linen, gold needle.
The whole thing is such a 'warm-fuzzy' for Nan and me, because it really was what made her realize that her talents were appreciated, and she could create beautiful stitching designs that stitchers would love! Just Nan, Inc was born only a few months later... and our little Noah was the beginning. (I do remember when she came into work and announced that she'd finally gotten husband John involved in this whole thing. Back then, the zip-lock bags we packaged everything in, came zipped. Before you stuffed the contents, you had to UN-ZIP the baggies. THIS was John's first official Just Nan duty... and because he excelled... I am happy to report that he advanced quite well in the company!)
So, in addition to Nan's 15th Anniversary... Noah's Sampler Reborn is a tribute to Old Times, Friendships, Shared Talents, Love of Needlework and Timeless Cross Stitch Designs!!! We know you'll love it, too!

Whimzi HangersGold and Silver Glitz that adds to the functionality of Nan's little Whimzi Frames... these are decorative hanging hooks to accent your tiny bits of Whimzi stitching. Perfect as ornament hooks for your Christmas Tree... Nan really has designed these with 'all year long use' in mind. She now has so many fun little Whimzi designs, that you can have seasonal trees, and use these to hang the frames -- with a touch of class! Use the silver ones for the Moonriders and the Snowflakes. Use the gold for the Santa series... mix up the two finishes if you want, since there are now so many different frame finishes... you choose! Packaged in sets of three, each hook measures approx 1-3/4 x 3/4. (Check out the Whimzi Show-Off Frames as another alternative for the Whimzis... VERY elegant and cool!)

Whimzi Show Off Frames Wow, Just Nan has developed a wonderful, large-ish and elegant framing option for her little 2-inch Whimzi Frames. This is the COOLEST mat and frame set that transforms a small ornament-sized frame into a substantial piece that can be displayed on an easel stand, or hang nicely in a wall grouping.
The gold/silver leafed frame is an overall 7 inches in size. The back features flippy tabs to swivel out, making it easy to change the featured Whimzi and stitching. Simply remove the back board, take out your Whimzi, replace with another, replace the top Ultrasuede mat... and slip back into the Show Off Frame! The inside boards feature a deep, recessed area to nestle the Whimzi in place, so it appears to be level with the suede top mat. What a great way to transform a little stitching into an elegant framed piece -- with no effort!
Whimzi Show Offs are currently offered with the gold/silver leafed frame and a black suede mat. The frame finish seems to go well with all of Nan's Whimzis... although I'm not as crazy about the shiny silver... I think the golds look the best in these. She had the Snowfaces displayed in this at Market -- but had a dusty blue suede mat instead of the black -- and it was stunning! J.O.E. (Jolly Old Elf), and the Antique Gold Embossed Whimzi, both available separately, are featured in this pic.

Winter in the Square
The first of the four seasons in this small set... Winter features a wintry gazebo, surrounded by its wintry garden and fences. Each of the four seasons will be the same size, follow the same design format, be stitched on the same 28ct Light Mocha Linen, and feature the coolest new charm/embellishment.
I know you can't see well from the pic, but it's a tiny acrylic dome that magnifies the miniature picture underneath! It's like looking through a magnifying glass. Offered as a leaflet with the embellishment... it measures approx 4-1/2 x 4-1/2.

Snowfaces
Oh my gosh... this is a DARLING 4-way snowman scene... I love the colors, I love the design, and I love the new whitewashed Whimzi frame they're in! Nan has such a fun way with this kind of thing! Snowfaces is offered as a small pattern pack. The frame and tiny snowflake clip-on charms are sold separately, so that you can stitch more than one if you want to. Snowfaces measures a mere 2 x 2 stitched on 28ct light blue linen. The Whitewashed Antique Embossed Whimzi frame is one of the three new finishes... so pretty!

Flying Colors
Nan's newest Lessons on Linen pattern... these are designed to be taught as shop classes, if desired. Nan has designed the butterfly that is full of special stitches for interest and texture. However, in a class format, you never have enough time to complete the main project, sometimes mis-count... and sometimes ruin the main piece. The Lessons on Linen designs offer step-by step stitching guides, and a smaller companion design to the main one that offers all the same techniques and stitches the larger, main design does... but it's delivered in a more class-room-friendly manner. So... you get two for one!!! Top of Form 4 Flying Colors is stitched in a pretty palette of soft greens, lavenders and blues... and clear pinks! I think my pic looks a bit on the peachy-side... but wanted you to know that this is definitely roses and pinks! The silk package contains whole skeins of 17 different colors -- perhaps you have a stitching friend to split the pack with?

Frightful A four-patch of Halloween delight... this is a charming design that is full of bright greens, oranges and purples. One of Nan's 5 new patterns that have just arrived, your stash is definitely falling behind... as you need all of these! Frightful is designed as one piece... each section can be split and stitched individually to be inserted into Just Nan's new WhimZi frames. So we're also showing you a great little ghost clip-on charm you can use on the Whimzi frame if you'd like. (The thread pack of silks you'll need is also the same one that Nan's Moonriders pattern uses -- double use out of the same threads!!)
Offered as a leaflet, the little ghost is stitched into every scene, and the featured charm in the main design. Finishing approx 5 x 5 on 28ct, each smaller ornament measures approx 2 x 2 and fits into the optional frames. So cute... Nan has a way with Halloween stuff... great color and really cute little witch, ghost and pumpkin faces!!! Check out Moonriders, too!
